The Decision–The Literary Edition!

Do you remember the big hoopla last year surrounding WHERE Lebron James would be going? Would it be the Miami Heat? The Nets? Where would he go? It was dubbed as “The Decision” and I couldn’t turn on the tv or go on the internet without seeing something about it. People were eagerly awaiting his decision. They even held a press conference about his decision. I mean, really, it was all quite ridiculous considering all the incredibly important things going on in the world.

Anyways,  I digress, but it is related. If you are a reader of my blog, you will know that I gave a desparate call for all readers to help me with an impossible task. What is this task? My boyfriend would agree to read ONE book..the whole thing. He would also get to give me a task that I would have to do…that aspect is still pending. He accepted the challenge and I put the call out for bookworms to give me their suggestions.

After a few days of suggestions I picked 5 books from your suggestions (Darkly Dreaming DexterFever PitchFade Away: A Myron Bolitar NovelThe Maze Runner, and The Gunslinger  for him to choose from and then he narrowed it down to 3 (Dexter, Fever Pitch and Fade Away).

The waiting that has surrounded this decision has been excruciating for me and it seems as though people that have been helping me have been dying to know as well!

Well, folks, consider this the press conference to announce “The Decision.”

My boyfriend has decided to read…..

Darkly Dreaming Dexter (thank you to Lori from The Next Best Book Club for her suggestion!)
Thank you all for your suggestions! There were SO many great suggestions and I had a hard time deciding the final selections for him to pick and he had a tough time choosing between Dexter and Fever Pitch. I’m hoping that perhaps after actually reading a book he’ll realize how awesome books are and read the other suggestions!

About Jamie

Jamie is a 32 year old married lady (with a new baby!!) who is in denial that she's actually that old to be a married lady and a mom. When she's not reading you can find her doing Pilates followed by eating ice cream, belting out Hamilton (loud and offkey) and having adventures with her husband, daughter and rescue dog.

WOO! Finally a decision! I personally find this way more satisfying than the Lebron James blah blah 🙂 I hope he enjoys it, so that next time the two of you visit a bookstore he'll actually do some browsing for himself, instead of waiting exasperatedly for you to finish.

  2. Man, good luck! I hope he likes it, but if he doesn't, try not to be too hard on him. 🙂

  3. Thanks ladies! Tahleen–I won't be! I'm just happy that he is willing to try. I don't think he'll ever love books like I do and that's ok with me because he puts up with all my bookish quirks! 🙂

  4. I *love* the Dexter books! The TV show is great, but the books are my first love. DARKLY DREAMING DEXTER is the best of the three I've read. I have reviews of the first three on my blog; I really need to read the other two! I hope he enjoys them!

  5. IngridLola says:

Ha ha! The only reason I know about "The Decision" is because of my husband who is obsessed with basketball/sports.

  6. Heather R. says:

Oooh, good choice! I think I might try to convince MY boyfriend to try to read this too. I get so happy when he decides he's bored enough to pick up a book himself, haha.

Perhaps your boyfriend will enjoy the book so much, he'll do a guest review for your blog!

  7. Cool. I've been debating about reading this one for a while, but I'm excited to hear from you what your boyfriend thinks! (and what he decides for you…) Good luck!

  8. TNBBC Super Mod says:

Oh god the PRESSURE!!! He better like Dexter or he will have to answer for it! YAY for Dexter and for your boyfriend attempting to get into reading!!!

  9. I love this post. My fiancee has only read one full novel since I've been with him. He refuses to read another. The only thing I can get him to read are graphic novels. He loves Dexter so maybe I can convince him to read this too. Let us know if your bf enjoyed the book or not.

  10. The books are very different from the show after the first one, but that's what makes them interesting! The show explores routes the books didn't take, and vice versa. I love them both, though! Lindsay's a great writer; how else did I fall in love with a serial killer?? ^_^

  11. Ooh, I bet he'll have fun with this one! My fingers are crossed he'll like it and be converted to a reader! Good pick 🙂
