My Bookish Calendar: October & November

New Feature Alert: My Bookish Calendar!

I’ve been so lucky in the past few months since I started blogging to attend some incredible events– PAYA, Brooklyn Book Festival and the National Book Festival. I decided that every month or so I would lay out bookish events and signings that I plan on going to and hear what you all are going to.

Dash & Lily's Book of DaresOctober 29 —  David Levithan & Rachel Cohn signing at Doylestown Bookshop: Signing event for their new book–Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares! I hope I can get my Nick and Norah book signed!!

Rot & RuinOctober 31 — Jonathan Maberry signing at Barnes and Nobles in Willow Grove,PA — Seems like a fun signing for Halloween! And I’ve been dying to pick up Rot and Ruin since I read Jenn from Jenn’s Bookshelves review. Apparently L.A. Banks and Marie Lamba are going to be there but I haven’t read anything by either and to be honest I don’t know any of their books.

Forge (Seeds of America)November 2-- Laurie Halse Anderson signing at Children’s Book World in Haverford, PA: I can’t wait for this event! I’ve been a huge of of Laurie Halse Anderson since I read Speak in high school. I can’t wait to pick up Chains and Forge since I’m so interested in historical fiction and particularly the Revolutionary War. It doesn’t hurt that I live pretty close to Valley Forge National Park so I’m dying to meet her and get these books! She is just someone I respect tremendously so this will be a very exciting day for me!

RevolutionNovember 12 — Jennifer Donnelly signing at Barnes and Nobles in Princeton, NJ: This one is going to be epic! I still need to get my hands on Revolution though. Hopefully Steph Su and I will be meeting up for this one!

What upcoming events are you looking forward to? Have you guys met or seen any of these authors speak?

Don’t know how to find out about events near you? My resources:

Bookish Events blog — This is a side project I’m doing. It is for mostly festivals and conferences but I’ll be adding popular author tours.
Book Tour — I use this site to search upcoming author signings near me.
Goodreads events– I tend to search this every week or so to see what is near me.
Authors websites– I have found a lot of signings but going to the authors websites. Time consuming but sometimes there are signings and events on there that you can’t find on Book Tour or Goodreads events.

About Jamie

Jamie is a 28 year old married lady who is in denial that she's actually that old. When she's not reading you can find her doing Pilates followed by eating gelato, listening to music with oversized headphones and teaching her niece how to be as awesome as she is.

So jealous! I wish I lived closer to Philly! Or, I wish that more authors came to central/western PA!

  2. Christina/Book Addict says:

I really want to try and make Anderson on Nov. 2nd. I have a stupid dental appt. I will let you know if I can go. Are you going to Michelle Zink on the 28th at Borders in Exton? I plan on being there!

  3. Jess– I wish you lived closer, too!! So we could hang out and go to all these bookish things together!

Christina– I hope you can make it! I don't think I'll be able to go on the 28th. Jeeez. You would think it would be easy for us to meet up again! lol

  4. Wow, what an amazing lineup! I'm especially jealous of the second and third. Thanks for the event resources — I'm off to see what's happening near me!

  5. Kayla + Cyna says:

Ahh, that sounds so fun! Especially ennifer Donnely, she was a big deal when I lived in NY because she was from the same county, lol. But alas, nobody interesting comes to the southwest D: All we have is that Meyer woman…

  6. The Blue Bookcase says:

    Jonathan- Likewise!

Tahleen– Wooo! So exciting!! I'm glad we both get to meet her!

  10. I really want to read Revolution! I'e heard sooo many good things about it.

  11. Whoaaaaaaa so busy. This sounds like an awesome month ahead. Tara Q. and I are going to our first signing together in two weeks too. Eeek! So excited. Gotta love blogging friends.

    Here from CEP.

I LOVE this feature! I'm so envious of all the bookish events happening by you. I'm motivated to find what's going on in my own hood, now :)

  14. Anna– I'm so jealous that you and Tara get to meet up!! I feel like there are not many book bloggers in my area. I mean, if I go to NYC there are a TON! I am lucky because I have gotten to meet up with Christina from Confessions of a Bookaholic and Steph Su but that's all of us for this area!

Anastasia– Do it!! You have so many great events near you!

  15. Ahh I really wish I could see Laurie Halse Anderson! I told my friend to see her when she was in Wellesley, MA last week, but I don't think my friend was able to go. The nearest she'll be to me is 3.5 hours away, which I do not have time for.

  16. So sad Natanya! Tahleen went and saw her yesterday!
