Top Ten Fictional Crushes!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted at my other blog– Theย  Broke and the Bookish. I’m really excited about this topic as this was a fun conversation in the College Students group on Goodreads (the group from which The Broke and the Bookish sprang from). We hesistantly shared our favorite crushes until we realized that we were all just big nerds for having fictional crushes.ย  We’ve since embraced it! ๐Ÿ™‚

My top nine + one lust:

1. Mr. Darcy from Pride andย  Prejudice— Do I even have to explain this one? Swoon swoon swoon.
2.ย  Laurie from Little Women— I just loved him. SO much. Freaking Jo..look what you could have had!
3. Peeta from the Hunger Games trilogy: I didn’t like him in the Hunger Games but really loved him in Catching Fire and Mockingjay! And I’m officially Teem Peeta after finishing the series. He hadย  such a devotion and love for Katniss.. I don’t think she deserved it really!
4. Zooey from Franny and Zooey— I liked his intellect. I could just picture him perfectly in my head. A cute hipster boy.

5.ย  The Boy in the Purple Socks from Harriet the Spy: Childhood crush! I fell hard for this boy. I always felt bad for him! Nobody even knew his name..
6. Eron from Sleepless — I think it is the chivalrous gentleman thing that I liked.
7. Mr. Bingley from Pride and Prejudice: I thought he was such a sweetheart! I love Darcey but Bingley captured my attention from affair whereas Darcy was an acquired taste.
8. Rudy from The Book Thief— I think little girl Jamie would have been in love with Rudy! I just loved the relationship between he and Liesel and I just can’t quite remember having a friendship with a guy like that when I was younger.
9.ย  Gale in the Hunger Games: I only had a crush on him in The Hunger Games but a hard crush it was. I always felt bad for him having to watch her on screen with Peeta. I would have swooped right in on that one if I lived in District 12.

10. LUST:ย  Edward/Jacob from Twilight: I will admit that I had the biggest crush on Edward from Twilight when I read the first book. It was the gentleman aspect of him. I mean, I wanted to jump his bones. After the first book, I just began to like him less and less. I then began to lust over Jacob…might have had to do with the fact that Taylor Lautner is a major hunk. I feel like such a pedophile for that one.

  1. I love your list! I didn't even think about Zooey. Also, I completely share you lust for Edward. You're right – it's something about his old fashioned gentleman-like quality. Chivalry is dead, unless your a vampire from an earlier time!

  2. Hahah..best quote ever! "Chivalry is dead, unless you're a vampire from an earlier time!"

  3. I love how you are swooning over two sides of some of those love triangles. Indecision? Or just acknowledging that both options are hott? ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Anna– Indecision plays a factor for sure! lol. Although the fact that they are HOT is the real problem. With Gale and Peeta though, it was all about Gale for The Hunger Games and then I didn't like him and I loved Peeta for the other two!

Although..this seems to be a common theme for me..before I met my boyfriend of almost 4 years.. I was "casually dating" 3 guys because I couldn't decided. lol. I finally picked my bf and I'm glad he was the right choice! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. I would have been in love with Rudy as a little girl too, he reminds me of my best friend when I was little.
And of course, Darcy doesn't need an explanation, he's just that crush-worthy!

  6. But you missed out the BEST dude from P and P! I always thought Lizzie should have ended up with Colonel Fitzwilliam. Not as wet as Mr Bingley and not as arrogant as Mr Darcy, just rich and friendly ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Christina/Book Addict says:

We share some of the same literary crushes! Of course, my favorite is Darcy though!

  8. Jacob is hott. I liked him better than Edward from the get-go (pre Taylor).
    Love the list ๐Ÿ™‚
My book crushes were definitely Noah from the Notebook, Mr. Darcy, and Rhett Butler.

  9. Midnyte Reader says:

Heh, "…feel like a pedophile." I always feel that way when I watch Supernatural.

  10. I only have three: Aragorn from Lord of the Rings, Robin Hood from the Disney (fox) version, and Po from Graceling (my favorite…mmm). This was a really fun Top 10 list!

  11. Yes to Mr. Darcy (of course!) and Peeta (although what was done to him in Mockingjay was awful…). I liked Eron in Sleepless as well!

  12. Anne Bennett says:

I LOVE that picture of Mr. Darcy and can see why you put LUST next to the picture of Jacob. Ha!
This meme has just rekindled my crushes on the guys on my list. Sigh!

  13. Twenty Boy Summer and The Goose Girl are both great reads โ€“ in fact The Goose Girl is one of my favorite fairytale retellings! Shannon Hale's writing is pretty amazing. Hope you enjoy them ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. brandileigh2003 says:

The movie Jacob sure is hot!
He just made me mad manipulating Bella into kissing him though!

  15. Great list! Only Edward and Jacob made my top 10.

    Here's my Top 10 List

  16. Kayla + Cyna says:

๐Ÿ˜€ Darcy, man. He's made of win. Aww, Bingley. I didn't really crush on him, cause he seemed like more of a sweetie/brotherly type to me, and he and ane were so cute. His portrayal in the A&E P&P didn't help much with that, either, his actor only made him more of a puppy dog! ๐Ÿ˜€

I'm only on book 2 of the Hunger Games, and I really can't say I'm Team Gale or Peeta, cause I…don't have a personal preference, I guess (neither are my type), and Katniss seems so sincerely in love with both of them. I'm really curious to read Mocking_ay and see how it turns out, and more importantly, how Katniss decides.

LOL @ the pedophile comment. It's so bizarre because Lautner is gorgeous, and yet I remember being a teenager when he was like TEN and in Sharkboy and Lava Girl. That combined with seeing his school yearbook pic on a website somewhere totally killed it for me.

Edward though…personality aside, Pattinson's stupid hairdo totally ruins any lust I might have for him. SADFACE ๐Ÿ™ Actually, Twilight in general has exceptionally bad hair…am I the only one who thinks that? asper's, oh my god…I cringe.

  17. I'd have to say Mr. Knightly won my heart from all of the Jane Austen novels. ๐Ÿ™‚

And yes, Peeta was a prize during Hunger Games, but didn't you find him oh so obnoxious in Mockingjay? Ugh!

  18. Great list!! I forgot about the boy in the purple socks!!
