When Someecards Say It Best… – An Update On Wedding Planning

This Wedding Wednesday post is going to be a little different from the ones I’ve done recently with bookish centerpieces or wedding readings from literature. I haven’t done an update in a while so I figured I would…and someecards just seemed like the most fun way to do so.

We’ve been working on our invites! A co-worker and friend (Hi Liz!) of mine is doing them and I’m superrrr excited to see how they turn out. I’ll be for sure doing a vlog showing them to you all! I’ll probably be just staring at them and their prettiness when I get them. This was one thing I was really stressed about but now that the process is underway I’m feeling calm knowing that Liz has it under control!

Seriously…going through our invite list has been the freaking HARDEST THING EVER. We have so many people that we COULD invite but we can’t invite everyone but we just sit their rationalizing WHY we should invite them but our list is getting out of control. I know some people are going to feel offended but…I can’t invite everyone. Oh and let’s talk about how parents want to invite everyone that they’ve ever KNOWN. I know mine aren’t as bad as some but come onnnn.

We’re  trying to figure out where our rehearsal dinner will be and who the heck do we invite?! THIS is beyond insane…why can’t we just do rehearsal cocktails and cupcakes?! And trying to get the details down of all the things we’ll have to rehearse…CANNOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!

Ok not reallyyyy. WE will have an awesome DJ. But we are meeting with some DJ’s this weekend and I’m so stressed about it. The DJ is what keeps the party going so I want them to be good but not a crapload of money!

So for the bridesmaid dresses…I gave my girls a choice of 9 charcoal cocktail dresses in chiffon from the same designer and let them have their pick. All the dresses are REALLLY CUTE! We are ordering this week..I’m excited! That has been a major stress so I finally gave up trying to please everyone and they’ll all have different dresses!

We’ve been slowly but surely working on our registry but DANG…there are SO many things. I didn’t know one could possibly need so many gadgets for the kitchen! It’s kind of stressful because we don’t know where we will be living so it’s hard to know what to put on there depending on how much room we have!

And since they didn’t have any ecards about freaking favors, flowers or centerpieces…I’ll just say OMG…how am I supposed to decide this?! I was a little absent from the blog in the beginning of the month..but I’m honestly just SO STRESSED. I need a wedding planner! Or I just need to elope…

About Jamie

Jamie is a 32 year old married lady (with a new baby!!) who is in denial that she's actually that old to be a married lady and a mom. When she's not reading you can find her doing Pilates followed by eating ice cream, belting out Hamilton (loud and offkey) and having adventures with her husband, daughter and rescue dog.

  2. Go ahead and have your rehearsal dinner be cocktails and cupcakes! I'm pretty sure it's just the bridal party and close family invited…but really it can be whatever YOU want. One of my friends had her rehearsal dinner at her house after the "rehearsal" at the church. It was a casual cookout, everyone brought a dish and lots of margaritas were served!

Let me know if you need help with anything. Seriously. Part of my major was event planning!

You're so close, Jamie! This is an exciting time – cherish it! 🙂

teehee I know how you feel! I LOVE Planning, it is my favorite thing to do, but when it comes to planning MY wedding there are definitely days where I literally consider, just being an a committed relationship… For Rehearsal dinner, you USUALLY just invite your bridal party and parents… and I TOTALLY understand the whole guest list thing.. Between my fiance and I if we just invited Close family members/immediate family we come out to a total of 150. It is Insane!!! You will do fine and your wedding will be exactly what you wanted!

  5. I don't envy you! These little card are hilarious, though. At least your sense of humor is still intact. 😉

  6. My husband was just in a wedding party earlier this year, and they had a rehearsal cocktail party. If that's what you want, complete with cupcakes, then I say go for it! If you want an intimate sit-down dinner with just your wedding party and immediate family (which is what the rehearsal dinner traditionally is), then go with that. We did the rehearsal dinner for our wedding (but my husband's family is Serbian and they like to EAT so food was essential). But I liked the cocktail party aspect at the wedding we were just at, since more people were there and it was a nice chill evening to relax and mingle before the big day. Whatever you choose, I'm sure that it will be perfect and oh-so-right. =)

  7. I'm right there with you!. Mother of the Bride, and we are less than two months away…Invites went out last week….Hang in there. One step at a time and you'll get there!

  8. I’m right there with on that first one! Husband and I made all our invites by hand and it took WEEKS. On the bright side, we did get quite a few compliments on them.
The invite list is an absolute pain in the ass! Seriously. You have to invite people you barely know because otherwise they’d get mad. And you have to invite people you know probably won’t come. And you have a limited amount of space, but you also want to make sure it’s filled. And on and on and on…
Hah. The registry was fun to make for all of about 30 minutes tops. And then I was trying to decide what we REALLY needed and what I just wanted and what was too expensive and GAH! Surprisingly, lots of people feel perfectly fine with digging some useless thing out from the back of their closet to give to you as a wedding present instead of something ACTUALLY off your registry. I find that incredibly frustrating.

  9. Aww, yay! Wedding time! I know it seems hella stressful, but at least you’re worrying about something AWESOME, like getting married. YAY!
Where did you end up getting your bridesmaid’s dresses? I know you were having a hard time finding nice charcoal ones.

  10. YOU CAN DO IT JAMIE!! *gets out the pompoms to cheer you on* I swear, I’m so nervous about planning my wedding next year. The thought of all the things I have to do is already freaking me out, so I can totally understand where you’re coming from. I sympathize entirely, but I totally believe in you at the same time!
