Retail Therapy: The Jamie-Is-Trying-To-Push-Her-Bookish-Agenda-All-Over-The-New-Apartment edition

Retail Therapy is a feature here at The Perpetual Page-Turner book blog in which I combine my love for bookish things and shopping. Each time I’ll feature bookish accessories, bookish themed items, bookish goodies or gifts that are perfect for that bookish person in your life.
I’ve been very sporadic with this feature since I started it last August — partly due to not doing a ton of shopping/browsing because I was saving for the wedding and partly feeling like there are too many features like this lately and so maybe it’s not a good use of my time as it may be redundant. But nonetheless, I am a freaking shopoholic so I must share when I find something I love.
Typically I only showcase one thing per post but since I haven’t done it in a while…I’ll share a few that I’ve found while browsing Etsy for things for the apartment!

I found these lovelies when I was on a search for bins to put on this really cute shelving unit we got from Ikea but Will quickly vetoed them (“Don’t you already take up enough of the apartment with book things?” It’s true…I do!) but I thought they were such a cute upcycle to do with books that people are going to discard of because they are beyond repair. You can find them at THIS Etsy shop.

I was looking for cute refrigerator magnets (umm I totes am going to do the Instagram magnets with Stickygram for sure) on Etsy because our apartment is bare since we are newly moved in and I decided that naturally my priority needed to be to decorate the refrigerator with cute magnets. As I was browsing I saw these Harry Potter word magnets and got excited for all you Harry Potter fans out there! You know I’ve promised to rectify my bookish confession about having not read this series but I just HAD to share nonetheless. Maybe one day when I’m a huge HP fan after reading the series (which I better be since all of you have heckled me so much!) Found at THIS Etsy shop!

Lastly, I was looking for something small to go on the wall in our kitchen since, well, our kitchen is small so we don’t have a lot of room and I thought this was just darling! Found HERE at this Etsy shop!

What sort of bookish decorations do you have in your home?? Feel free to point me towards anything!

I am not affiliated with any of these Etsy shop owners nor am I receiving any sort of commission for this post. I simply just want to share all the bookish things I find.

About Jamie

Jamie is a 32 year old married lady (with a new baby!!) who is in denial that she's actually that old to be a married lady and a mom. When she's not reading you can find her doing Pilates followed by eating ice cream, belting out Hamilton (loud and offkey) and having adventures with her husband, daughter and rescue dog.

  1. Janelle Downey says:

What great ideas! Forget Will; I for one wouldn’t mind seeing more bookish decorating ideas!

  2. I love the lemon print!

  3. I have postcards of famous reading pictures framed in my bedroom. The lemon print is so cute!

  4. i made a huge wreath out of a book. i love it!

i also made something similar to this…

and i mod podged book pages to a canvas and then taped a heart in the middle and painted around it, so then the heart was left showing the pages and i painted read in the middle.

  5. Um, I absolutely adore everything you listed here!!!
I was looking for prints on paper a while back and I REALLY wanted one, but didn’t want to dish out the money. Yet. I still do want one!
I LOVE the HP magnets! I want them!!! Except no one ever comes over to my apartment so it’d just be me rearranging them and laughing at my own creations haha.

  6. My favorite thing ever are the posters made from the text of classic literature. The negative space forms an outline of the characters or something directly from the book. Then the background is the chapters of the work.

Here is the Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland.

  7. I LOVE shopping in general, but shopping for bookish things is DEFINITELY my favorite. I can’t wait till I have a place of my own to decorate because I will definitely be incorporating some bookish elements! My favorite thing that you included is the storage bin – so AWESOME!

  8. Okay, I see two things here that I must acquire for my home: the bookish bins and those Harry Potter magnets. I’m deeply envious. but yes, Slytherin *will* defeat Gryffindor

  9. I really enjoy these types of posts (although I think my hubby would rather me ignore them). Can I just admit this right here, right now–I NEED to acquire me a set of those amazeballs HP magnets! My life is incomplete without them. Whew! I feel better now that I got that off my chest. Read the HP books. All of them. In order. Seriously. They will change your life!

  10. Two things.

    1. I need those HP magnets! I’m not always a huge fan of word magnets, because sometimes they stick to fridge if you don’t move them around enough. I mean stick! As in, not coming off no matter how hard you pry. But HP word magnets. I must have. (Also, I hope you read HP soon. They are wonderful)

    2. Those little boxes with the books. Lauren Conrad made a craft video showing how to make those using Lemony Snicket A Series of Unfortunate Events books, and this was this HUGE backlast because she cut up all those books. Granted, she was using brand new books, but sometimes I think people get their noses out of joint way to easily. I like them.

  11. I have a tissue box holder that looks like a stack of old books on my bookshelf. 🙂 Everything that you found is so fun!!!

  12. I love the book totes. Seriously? How awesome are they. Loved this post! 🙂

  13. I love those Harry Potter words! I want them. And the bookish bins, even though I don’t know what I would do with them. But I would find a use 😉

  14. Those word magnets are adorable!
Also, I’m really glad Husband approves of my reading habits and doesn’t mind having bookish things around the house :]
