Starred & Shared (2)

I find lots of interesting and wonderful things on the interwebs that I star in my Google Reader or add to my bookmarks and most of the time there they stay. This is my attempt to share them in the same vein as Yes and Yes’s Web Time Wasters and FYA Procrastination Pro Tips.

In The Bookish World:

Β Tara from Fiction Folio reviewed Freaks Like Us — a book that wasn’t on my radar but now is thanks to her review! had an interesting post called Adults Reading YA Fiction β€” What It’s Not — responding to an article trying to explain why us readers who aren’t of the YA age read YA. Hrrmm maybe if they read YA themselves they’d understand WHY we all read YA instead of formulating reasons that they think explain it all.

Anna got super creative during last week’s Top Ten Tuesday and matched some books she loved to a Halloween costume! Fun!

Both Estelle & Magan wrote really poignant and beautiful letters to their teen selves to celebrate the Dear Teen Me book coming out soon! Their letters confirmed even more why I love these two!

In Other Parts Of Internet-land

LOVE LOVE LOVE this post on a post about the blogging world being like a dance party.

I needed to see this post this week. A bit of positive self talk goes a long way! I feel like I am having a hard time coming up with some positive things to say about myself because of how I feel about not being able to find a job. I have been rereading parts of this post all week. Show yourself some love and think about all you’ve accomplished!

A recipe for DIY dry shampoo! I live on dry shampoo being a person with bangs. It’s so bad for my hair to wash it every day so I don’t but if I don’t use dry shampoo my bangs get all wonky and gross.

25 ways to take five minutes to yourself.

Love these DIY telephone bookends! I might try it as I need some new bookends!

I always love her “Take Out Fake Out” posts and this sesame chicken one is no exception!

About Jamie

Jamie is a 30 year old married lady who is in denial that she’s actually that old. When she’s not reading you can find her doing Pilates followed by eating ice cream, listening to music with oversized headphones and having adventures with her husband and dog.

  1. I love those bookends! I’m pinning that πŸ˜‰

  2. Ooh, I like the idea of this feature =)

YA does not mean that ONLY young adults can read it, people need to understand that! I always feel like I get funny looks for looking in the YA section in shops =(

    • Thanks for the feedback Rinn! πŸ™‚

I get those looks too once people realize I’m 27. But mostly people THINK I am a YA so I don’t get toooo many looks because I look so young that I fit in haha.

  3. I like this feature! I really love the links that you shared this week, especially the telephone book ends (so cute! Also, I love how I could recycle old telephones.) and the sesame chicken under 30 minutes!

    • Thanks! Aren’t they SO cute plus gotta love recycling!! I appreciate the feedback about what kinds of things you liked! I have SO many things starred that it’s nice to know what kinds of things interest y’all!

  4. Wow! Thank you so much for linking to my blog and for sharing these other great posts. I’m really frustrated by people who look down their noses at all YA fiction, as though they’re certain it can’t be *real* literature. (But I guess you could tell that from my semi-rant!) I really appreciate the buzz. You’ve got a great blog. πŸ™‚

  5. What a fabulous post! The blogging post related blogging to dance parties was an AWESOME post! Thank you for linking to it. Stay safe and have a great weekend!

  6. I loved ALL of these posts, and I’m super excited about the dry shampoo idea. Any way that I can sleep in an extra few minutes is a win in my book! And THANK YOU for including my review and writing an awesome comment – you’re the best πŸ™‚

  7. I have bangs too, and when I don’t want to wash my hair, I still wash my bangs. it is a little weird in the shower, but it works, and that way my bangs aren’t all wonky. I will look into that dry shampoo post, though.

  8. So I totally made the sesame chicken today – well, except we made it with tofu. Next time we’re going to add less honey – it was a little too sweet for our liking. We added Sriracha and a teaspoon of mustard to balance out the sweet and it tasted pretty good! Thanks for sharing these links!

  9. These are some really cool things! Thanks for sharing. The blog = dance party post is very fun.
