Another Bookish Playlist

So last October I made a bookish playlist that was full of songs in my Itunes library that are also names of book titles. It was super fun, introduced you to some books you may not have heard of and satiated my need for making really random playlists. I mentioned that I’ve got really NORMAL playlists — “songs to make me dance” or “songs for a rainy day” but I also, because I feel I have SO MUCH MUSIC, create playlists based upon random things so that I can maybe listen to some songs I’ve neglected. It always makes the most random, kickass playlists!

Some playlists are based on  things like: Songs With A Color In Them, Songs With Fruit In Title, or Singers With Beards, etc. etc. So I was in need of a new playlist and, since I just started using Spotify this year and am needing to remake all of my playlists that I had in Itunes, I decided to make a new bookish playlist (actually two — I’ll put the other one up next week or so). And thanks to your suggestions in the comments of the LAST post, I’ll make these available on Spotify.

It ended up being a pretty chill sort of mix — perfect for while I’m blogging! Love any of these songs/bands? Do you know any songs that have “books, reading/read, or story” that you’d add?!

Jamie is a 32 year old married lady (with a new baby!!) who is in denial that she's actually that old to be a married lady and a mom. When she's not reading you can find her doing Pilates followed by eating ice cream, belting out Hamilton (loud and offkey) and having adventures with her husband, daughter and rescue dog.

  1. You’ve been coming up with the most creative posts lately! I’m so glad I subscribed. Keep it coming and thanks for sharing!

  2. This is such an awesome idea, but you’re missing a couple really good songs! The Story of Us by Taylor Swift and I Could Write a Book by Frank Sinatra.

  3. Neat idea! I’d say The Story by Brandi Carlile.

  4. Ohh, I’m listening to the playlist now. It’s great blogging music! Other songs.. hmmm. I feel like I should know a bunch with those words but I’m drawing a blank! Love the playlist! =)

  5. Ooh, such a great playlist! I love several of these artists. And I only ever knew one song by Margot & the Nuclear So-So’s; I’m excited to hear more from them! Thanks for putting this on Spotify. It’s quite handy!

The others that pop into my head that go along with this theme are “Turning Page” by Sleeping at Last, “The Story” by Brandi Carlile, and “The Book Song” by Missy Higgins (though I’m not sure she ever actually released it, as I’ve only heard a live version). I also like “Atoms” by Emmy the Great, which is kind of odd, but has a couple good lines about reading and books. 🙂

  6. Ooh, fun!! 😀 I really liked Books From Boxes by Maximo Park 🙂

  7. You always have fun, fresh posts that I enjoy! And I liked seeing quotes from the songs, too.

  8. Here’s Where The Story Ends by The Sundays

Love the line that says “I never should have said the books that you read were all I loved you for.”

  9. Two of my favorite Bon Jovi songs are “Story of my Life” and “Two Story Town”. I may be a little bias since they’re my favorite band but I do think they are really good songs. Unfortunately, not alot of people have heard of them since they’re not ones that were released on the radio, or into the mainstream population. Anyway, this is a really cute idea Jamie! Thanks for sharing it with us. 😀

  10. I am obsessed with Margot and the Nuclear So & So’s (i even have a tattoo for them.) They also have a song called “Bookworm” and a lyric that says, “i’m in a book, for you to read and then throw out…”

  11. Thanks, Jamie, because I REALLY need more music in my almost 2000 songs collection! 😉

I will definitely be checking all of these out, because you have FANTASTIC taste in music!

  12. Such a fun playlist!! I recently listened to this rap song called “Bookfiend” but I don’t think it would go with the rest of your playlist, ha.

  13. OMG I LOVE Book Club by the Arkells!!! They’re so amazing. I’ve heard them live too! They’re actually from the city right next to mine (the one where I was born :P) so that’s pretty cool for me too!

  14. How fun!!! I want to listen to these!!!

  15. I like this playlist! I only know a few of the songs, so I’m going to have to look up the rest. But I think that, random as you suggest it is, it’s a great playlist! I can’t wait to listen to it in its entirety. Thanks for sharing — you’ve given me some new music suggestions!
