Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR List

TTTlogo

Top Ten Tuesday, asĀ  always, is hosted at my other blog — The Broke & the Bookish

This week’s topic: Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR List — I’m definitely a person who tries to scatter my reading with older books, upcoming releases and further out releases so I have a mixture of things to read and blog about! As always, with my season TBR lists I only pick books I own because I am desperately trying to read the books on my shelves and this helps me at least try to tackle 10 books on my shelves instead of thinking about ones I don’t have.

(1) How To Say Goodbye In Robot by Natalie Standiford: My dear friend Carla LOVES this book and I’ve been meaning to pick it up but never have. LUCKILY my amazing Secret Santa this year, Nina, put this in my package so it’s a priority this Winter! I MUST.

(2) The Fault In Our Stars by John Green: I know. I know. JG is one of my favorite authors and I’ve yet to read this one. Truth? I’m TERRIFIED of it. TERRIFIED.

(3) Meant To Be by Lauren Morrill: I’m planning on reading this around Valentine’s Day because it seems super cute. Interestingly enough I didn’t realize I picked another Lauren Morrill book on this list until I started putting this together.

(4) The Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson: I love LHA so this is a no brainer for me.
(5) Being Sloane Jacobs by Lauren Morrill: Another Lauren Morrill on the list! This looks super cute and fun and I’m curious how the “trading places” thing will go.

(6) Maybe One Day by Melissa Kantor: I’ve been excited for this book for a long time. PLEASE BOOK GODS LET THIS ROCK MY WORLD.

(7) Split Second by Kasie West: I just finally read Pivot Point and I’m DYING to read the sequel.

(8) Panic by Lauren Oliver: Lauren always seems to hit you hard so I’m expecting big things for this one.

(9) Open Road Summer by Emory Lord: I need to read this in the Winter because it looks so fun and summery…very much NOT like PA in the winter.

(10) Don’t You Forget About Me by Kate Karyus Quinn: YEAH. This moved way up on my list after reading Another Little Piece by this author because I STILLLLL don’t have words for that book. I’m so intrigued! Funny story…I went to take this picture and my Kindle died. Ain’t nobody got time to wait for THAT so I just photoshopped the book cover in. BAM. I love technology.

So tell me…what books are you prioritizing to read this Winter? You will find me with all of these, some hot cocoa or tea and MANY MANY blankets!

  1. I have some of these on my list, too! MEANT TO BE is pretty cute. I’ve heard MAYBE ONE DAY is a major crier, and yes, you should be VERY AFRAID of THE FAULT IN OUR STARS–just letting you know! (:

  2. OMG, you picks are absolutely gorgeous. Be prepared for the tears with Maybe One Day. I think it a little piece of wonderful. So many good books that I want to just gush about. TFIOS, Meant To Be, Being Sloane Jacobs are absolutely amazing. I’m unabashedly jealous that you have Open Road Summer, and Spilt Second <3

  3. Great list of books you’ll be reading this winter! Hope you enjoy Meant to Be; I read it earlier this year and found it rather cute :) And I still haven’t gotten around to The Fault in Our Stars–maybe next year will be the year I read it?

  4. The Fault In Our Stars is one of those books that has been sitting on my TBR for a while now. I don’t think I’ll be reading it this winter. I don’t think I’m in the mindset for it. I’m terrified of it as well. Maybe in the spring or summer I’ll be ready to read it. I heard good things about it. Even one of my male coworkers was like “that’s an awesome book.” So I have to read it eventually.

  5. I’m super excited for Panic and a bunch of others. Loving your list. The Fault in Our Stars is great!

  6. Look how pretty your post is! All these books sound pretty fab to me. And I like your strategy of including a summery book to help with the winter blues. TFioS is a tough one, so save a light and fluffy book to follow up. There are some humorous moments in the book though :) Can’t wait to hear what you think.
    Happy winter reading!

  7. You’ve got so many books on your list that are definitely on my radar. I’m reading Another Little Piece soon, which I’m so excited for. I also really want to read Meant to Be. I hope you enjoy The Fault In Our Stars. I wasn’t as keen on it as other people were, but I still think it’s a good read!

  8. I totally understand being terrified of starting John Green’s books. They are like precious little bits of perfect and starting one means that you will eventually finish it – but if you wait to start it it’ll take longer to finish… right? =)

Enjoy it. I’ll be doing a re-read soon I think because I miss reading his writing.

  9. I’m a lot like you in the sense that I really tried to strike a balance between new releases and books I already own for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic, leaning more heavily toward the latter as my collection of owned, unread books is becoming a little out of control at this point. I don’t think I can express how envious I am of your ARC of The Impossible Knife of Memory. I’m such a big fan of Laurie Halse Anderson’s work and I’ll be counting the minutes until the book’s release on January 7th. It just can’t get here soon enough! Nobody writes contemporary quite like her. I can’t wait to hear what you thought of it! :D

Also, I just have to take a moment and comment on how adorable your graphics for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday are. The staging is so inventive and I love all the little snowflakes – They’re so pretty! Lovely work, Hun!

  10. Hi there,

I sort of have the same concept as you for this week’s TTT list! My list was 10 books that I really needed to read asap. :) Ooh, I still haven’t read any John Green books but I have Paper Towns on my bookshelf.

    My TTT.

  11. Melissa @ Writer Grrl Reads says:

I love your skirts! The book choices are pretty good too ;)

  12. Please please please read TFIOS!!!! Arhhh, I’m so excited for you :D Wish I got to read it for the first time again..

  13. After getting you How to Say Goodbye in Robot now I really want a copy! It sounds so cute but my TBR list is already so huge. So I refrained from buying myself one. Also I’m totally jealous that you have The Impossible Knife of Memory! I loved Wintergirls and Fever 1793 so I can’t wait to read Laurie’s next book.

  14. I just read MAYBE ONE DAY and cried the whole way through. Definitely a tear jerker. Lauren Morrill’s books are fun – easy light reading that make me smile. I also just read PANIC and sadly felt underwhelmed (I might be the only person so far…gah!) I hate loving an author so much it hurts and then reading a new book and feeling so blah about it- I just didn’t connect with the characters but loved the writing of PANIC so so so much.
I am also looking forward to THE IMPOSSIBLE KNIFE OF MEMORY so so badly. Is it out yet? LOL.

  15. I’m gonna put money on you loving Maybe One Day. It is so amazing. I read it so long ago and I’m waiting for people to talk about it with.

This is great list. I have read or want to read a lot of these myself.

    My TTT List

  16. First, let me say the photos of the books you will be reading are beautifully done.
Second (and on to the books), I am completely jealous you have a copy of Laurie Halse Anderson’s new book (but am also happy you have it because I suspect it to be amazing. And, too, I am *hoping* you review).

  17. I can’t get over how cute it is you took pictures of them all with your dresses on. I loved Meant to Be. <3

  18. I have no idea what Open Road Summer is, but I’m sold on the cover!! Yeah, def not a PA winter read. I want to read Don’t You Forget About Me. That cover is pretty awesome too. Funny though, I think you forgot to upload a graphic because I don’t see Divergent on this list anywhere!! OHhhhh…. you got owned!

  19. I’m swooning all over your TBR pile, just so you know. I ADORE The Fault in Our Stars. Yes, painful and heartbreaking but so worth it and so fantastic. JG is a master and you shouldn’t be afraid. Just be ready for the awesomeness coming your way. Lots of emotional reads this winter, no? My list is similar – for some reason, I like crying most during the winter. I think it’s probably because I’m not obligated to be among people at any time of day so full-on cry fests are legit and understandable.

    Happy Winter Reading!

  20. Being Sloane Jacobs and Panic are on my list as well! And I literally (about ten minutes ago) just bought TFIOS. It is $5.99 in hardcover on Amazon right now!!! What??? I died. So is Eleanor & Park. Anyway, you have a lot of great books on your list! I just got Don’t You Forget About Me as well. It sounds really good!

  21. Lots of good titles here. Being Sloane Jacobs is on my list too–doesn’t it just sound great?!

  22. This winter is definitely when I’m going to get to reading Lauren Morrill’s books. Can’t wait!

  23. Great list! But I think I’ve only heard about a few of these, haha. But I’ve seen The Impossible Knife of Memory and Maybe One Day on lots of lists lately, so you all have peaked my interest!

  24. Great books! I’m actually jealous of some of them!

  25. Love your pictures! So cute! :) Definitely a lot of good books on here. I’m excited about Being Sloane Jacobs!

  26. You have Split Second?! Ah I want! And I hope you LOVE Morrill’s Meant to Be! It’s my second fave book I read this year!

    My TTT

  27. I was terrified of The Fault in Our Stars, too! But I can assure you, it’s beautiful! You have nothing to be worried about! :)

  28. It’s nice to see a good mixture of books featured in your TBR list. The Fault In Our Stars is one book we should all get round to reading, particularly you who is a John Green fan in general.
I hope you enjoy all of these books… I look forward to reviews on some of the one’s that are unknown to me. :-)
    Bits & Bobs

  29. The Fault in Our Stars is so beautifully written! I’m looking forward to reading Unhinged, which is the sequel to Splintered by A.G. Howard, as well as Angelfall by Susan Ee. Hope you enjoy The Fault in Our Stars!

    Violet

  30. I still have to read The Fault in our Stars as well. It has been on my TBR list forever, but for some reason it still hasn’t made it to the top. I want to read Panic and Split Second as well. Great List!!

    Here is my TTT: http://jacquesbooknook.blogspot.com/2013/12/top-ten-tuesday-books-on-my-winter-to.html

  31. Maybe One Day was amazing. I was up until 2am devouring it. It was a seriously emotional book. To the point that I was sobbing violently. I was a COMPLETE emotional wreck. So I would recommend you spacing TFIOS and MOD FAAAAAR apart. Being Sloane Jacobs was an adorable book and I really enjoyed it.I haven’t read Panic yet but the e-ARC is currently sitting on my Kindle awaiting my powers of devouring.

I am SO excited for Split Second and The Impossible Knife of Memory. I am quite envious of those who have secured ARC’s for these two.

  32. I love how you paired the books with the bottoms of your dresses! Super cute! The Impossible Knife of Memory sounds really interesting. Right now, I’m craving peppermint mocha and some sleep as well.

  33. I can’t wait to read Open Road Summer! It seems like it has all the elements of a story that I enjoy, so I’m hoping I love the book. Maybe One Day is another book I’m highly anticipating, so I look forward to seeing what you think of it! The Fault in Our Stars is a wonderful, wonderful book, although it had me sobbing into a sofa cushion. (Not my most attractive look, I will admit!)

  34. Meant to Be is super cute and romantic. It will make a perfect Valentine’s read. I’m really looking forward to Being Sloane Jacobs as well.

  35. Being Sloane Jacobs was SO cute! I want to read Meant to Be now as well. Oh and TFiOS? Bring tissues. And chocolate. And lots and lots of blankets. But it’s beyond worth it :’)

    My TTT

  36. Reading has totally not been a priority for me lately. I’m in a major slump and I don’t know how to dig out. It sucks because it’s so cold here in Northern Nevada and there’s plenty of time for curling up under the covers with good books.

  37. I am *beyond* excited for the new Laurie Halse Anderson book! She is one of my favorites in the YA genre! And girrrrrl, when you read The Fault in Your Stars you must have a box of tissues with it. It’s beautifully painful, haha.

  38. Great list and yes, I’m sure you’ll be bawling after reading TFiOS. Can’t wait to see what you think of that one. Btw, love the pics and graphics.

  39. Wow great list and so many amazing books! I have a few of these myself but I am hoping to get to them after Christmas. Hope you get to them all :) My TTT.

  40. Awesome idea. I like putting older books on my list as well, especially because I am way behind on reviewing! I love How To Say Goodbye in Robot, and I’m glad I’m not the only one who hasn’t read The Fault In Our Stars yet, though sometimes it feels like i’m the only person left. :)
    My TTT

  41. Meant to Be is one of my favorite books that I read this year! It’s SO cute and I can’t wait to read Being Sloane Jacobs also! I’m like you, have to tackle the books I already own first… lots of fantasy and historical titles I’ve been super excited for but haven’t had the time to read! The Burning Sky, Across a Star-Swept Sea, Untold, These Broken Stars, Empress of the Seven Hills, The Boleyn Deceit…. for Winter books coming out, I can’t wait for A Mad, Wicked Folly, Lady Thief and CRESS!!! So many good books, not enough time! (That doesn’t count the library books I have too… sigh). I’m ready for hot chocolate, tea and snuggly blankets toooo :)

  42. Panic and Don’t You Forget About Me are two I’m looking forward to also (although they didn’t quite make my list) My picks are all upcoming books, but there are so many I want to go back and read as well. Great list, enjoy! Here’s my Top Ten.

  43. I love your list! The setup is so cute! The way you did the pictures are so cute and your skirts are adorable and the TTT logo you used is amazing!

  44. My winter TBR pile is all backlist this time around – I really need to get to some of the older books on my shelf! That said, I haven’t picked up THE FAULT IN OUR STARS yet either, and I felt like the only book blogger left on the planet who hadn’t! So glad I’m not alone. Great list!

  45. I can’t wait to read Split Second! I didn’t think I was going to like Pivot Point that much but it is one of my favs of 2013. The story was just so awesome and I can’t wait.
I hope you enjoy all of these great looking books!

  46. I know this is entirely not the point, but your skirt is really cute.

Moving on, excellent list! I am dying to read Split Second. I’m so glad you read/loved Pivot Point just in time to gear up for sequel fever! Both of Lauren Morrill’s books are inching their way up my TBR based on some very promising hype. Happy reading!

  47. Wait a minute!!! Did I know you hadn’t read The Fault in Our Stars?! WHAAAT.

  48. Jamiiiiiiiiiie! Your new style is so cute! And I love all of your adorable skirts!!! Did you do this over three days, or just get changed three times? LOL!!! Adorable :) Whaaat? You of all people haven’t read TFIOS? CRAZY! Before the movie, girl! Yes, Laurie Halse Anderson is a must! I have heard about BEING SLOANE JACOBS so many times today! Guess I need to check it out!!! PANIC is on my list, too. Oh, and Harper just sent me SPLIT SECOND!

  49. Ha! You are hilarious with your photoshopped book cover. Great picks. Happy reading!

  50. You haven’t read fault in our stars yet? Be prepared to have your heart ripped out. Just fair warning.

  51. I have an e-ARC of Maybe One Day. I can’t believe you haven’t read The Fault in Our Stars yet, but I haven’t read any of the other books you listed either, so… I am so, SO jealous that you have Split Second! I want that book so bad!

  52. I adore how you chose to display these reads in your TTT! I’m pretty excited to read most of these, but I think Open Road Summer definitely has to be my favorite of the ones you’ve picked out for this post. It just sounds SO GOOD!

  53. Such a pretty list! The Fault in Our Stars is good, just remember to stock up on tissues. I read Meant To Be this week and it’s super cute. It also made me want to travel to London, so prepare for some serious wanderlust! Maybe One Day sounds like it was written especially for me, so I CAN’T WAIT to get to that one. I really hope it won’t disappoint. And Split Second – I really need to re-read Pivot Point soon.

  54. I can’t wait to read Laurie Halse Anderson’s new book and Lauren Oliver’s as well. And you definitely need to get to The Fault in Our Stars. So good!

  55. Just read How to Say Goodbye in Robot for ForeverYA book club (we still use the monthly picks) and thought it was pretty good!
LOVE The Fault in Our Stars, but who doesn’t? ;) You’ll love it too.

  56. I, too, am hoping to get to Panic this winter. I am in love with Lauren Oliver’s writing, and I can’t imagine this one will disappoint. I’m hoping to get to Engines of the Broken World this winter because it sounds crazy and bizarre, and I think I’ll need winter break to give it my full attention. I also can’t wait to read This Song Will Save Your Life because of all the great things I’ve heard about it.

  57. lulufrances says:

the effort you go into for some posts is really applaudable :) i enjoy your blog, it’s really inspiring and makes me want to read even more haha :)
