Top Ten Tuesday, as always, is hosted at my other blog — The Broke & the Bookish
This week’s topic: Top Ten Books I’ve Read So Far This Year
My reading year started out a bit rocky but then I hit this AMAZING stride and was picking all the right books for me! SO YAY FOR THAT. I’m trying to make sacrifices to the book gods to please not let me get in another slump like the one I was in in the beginning of the year.
My list is a mix of old and new, fun and emotional but they all really stood out to me this year!! I decided to include a blurb of sorts from my review and I’ll link to the books below if you want to further check out my review!
To All The Boys I Loved Before by Jenny Han
Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson
Landline by Rainbow Rowell
Open Road Summer by Emery Lord
Falling Into Place by Amy Zhang
Far From You by Tess Sharpe
If I Lie by Corrinne Jackson
The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay
Life By Committee by Corey Ann Haydu (have not yet posted about this one yet!)
How To Love by Katie Cotugno
Bonus picks that need to be mentioned: The Fault In Our Stars (this is way on my top but I wanted to spot light other ones because EVERYONE knows this one), The Winner’s Curse, Saving Francesca
So tell me…have you read any of the books I mentioned? Are any on your TBR list? Tell me one book that was your favorite this year that you think I would like/should read!!
Danielle @ Love at First Page says
So glad to see you’ve included The Sea of Tranquility on your list! It’s one of the few angsty books that I absolutely love; the writing is so beautiful and Josh makes me melt. Landline and Since You’ve Been Gone are two books I picked up at BEA that I haven’t read yet; looking forward to them!
Jamie says
YES I don’t always love angsty novels but this one is just PERFECT. And omg I hope you love Landline (seriously made me think about marriage A LOT as a newlywed…is 2 years a newlywed still??) and Since You’ve Been Gone made me SO HAPPY.
Trish says
OMG! Seriously, my TBR list tripled because of you!! I love you, Jamie! Thanks for giving amazing recommendations. I’m a huge huge fan! :))
Jamie says
Aw YAY! I’m so happy you found some books to read. (Sorry about the TBR explosion haha but not sorry). And thank you for your kind words! <3

Jamie says
It was just so DIFFERENT. And like at first I was like…”Okay this is good” and then suddenly it had its claws in me and I was like “CANNOT STOP. CANNOT STOP.” I literally couldn’t have imagined going to bed not finishing.

I just read Since You’ve Been Gone at the beach and I thought it was really cute! I also really liked Open Road Summer- I am such a sucker for road trip/romance books! The Sea of Tranquility is one of those books that gutted me wide open but I absolutely adored. I also remember enjoying How to Love. I’m currently listening to Landline now and I’m really liking it! Great list Jamie!
Jamie says
I love the road trip books toooo. You’ve read Amy & Roger right?? And yes…GUTTED. Perfect word for Sea of Tranquility. I NEED more books from her.
Let me know what you think when you finish Landline! Very curious how it is with audio!!
Sash from Sash & Em says
Halfway trough LANDLINE and would have definitely included it if I had read it 48 hours prior! 🙂

ISN’T IT SO DARN GOOD??? We should chat after you finish!!
Pauline @ Fathomless Reveries says
I love your list and the graphics! 😀 Hurray for The Sea of Tranquility! I got an intense book hangover there, and I’m still going crazy over it now even if it has been quite a few weeks already. :))
My TTT
Jamie says
Thank you, Pauline! AND I KNOW. I seriously didn’t read for a few days after Sea of Tranquility. It was the book that got me out of a HUGE reading slump of MEH books and it was just perfection and deserved the proper time to settle in my brain forever!
Andrea @ Bookish says
I have A LOT of these on my TBR list, and a few on my TTT as well. I absolutely loved To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before -yeah for the sequel – and Since You’ve Been Gone! Definitely going to have to read more of those authors 🙂
Jamie says
The wait until the sequel might KILL ME. And oh my gosh…you must read more Morgan Matson. All her books are 5 stars for me so far. Amy & Roger is great and Second Chance Summer..oh man..Will made me stop reading it for a few minutes because I was sobbing so hard.
Melody says
Awesome list! I must read them all! Many of these are on my TBR list but must check out the others I’m not familiar with shortly!
Jamie says
YES you must read all of them 🙂 Read them on the treadmill while you prepare for the 5K 😛
Melody says
I totally will!! 😀

Landline is SO GOOD. Definitely different than those ones but I LOVED IT.

Jamie says
THAT BOOK. Just so real and messy and beautiful.

Great list! The only one I’ve read is How to Love which I absolutely adored but I have Falling Into Place and Since You’ve Been Gone waiting, hopefully I’ll get to both of them soon 🙂
Jamie says
I hope you do!! You really need to meet Frank from Since You’ve Been Gone. SWOON. And Falling Into Place seriously destroyed me.

The only book I’ve read is To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before but it didn’t stand out to me.
Great list though, I need to read some of these.
Jamie says
Ah hate when that happens! But it happens! Hope some of the others are better for you!
Sana // artsy musings of a bibliophile says
We share only three top ten books but I’m SURE Falling into Place would’ve been there if I was finished with it. I’m about 60% done with and man, it’s so beautiful I could cry. <3
Since You've Been Gone is like THE contemporary of 2014 and then there's Frank FREAKIN' Porter. Ha ha.
Life by Committee creeped up on me and it's such a messy book and I love messy books and I need Star's book now.
Open Road Summer is such a great road trip read, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I really want to fall in love with To All the Boys I've Ever Loved, Far From You, and Landline.
Jamie says
YES I AM SO HAPPY YOU ARE LOVING FALLING INTO PLACE!! YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
Also, I feel like we are loving the same books this year. Please alert me to any and all potential favorite books from here on out!! 😛
Angie F. says
I have read none of these! I want to read Falling into Place, Far From You, and Since You’ve Been Gone though. 😀
Here’s Mine @ Pinkindle
Jamie says
I wish I had copies of all of these that I could send you because I need you to read them, Angie!!!
Charlie Anderson says
Sadly, I haven’t read any of these books. No, not even John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars. I’m kinda behind the times with “what’s new” in books, which I *really* need to work on. BUT I did receive a copy of Since You’ve Been Gone from a giveaway at Candace’s Book Blog, and I know I’ll love it. I do want to check out Far From You and Life By Committee. I think I (may) have requested a few of your top ten books from NetGalley, so here’s to hoping!
Jamie says
It’s so hard to keep up with the new books!! I hope you enjoy Since You’ve Been Gone! I would have that be the first from my list you read this summer! 🙂
Kayla @ The Thousand Lives says
I read and loved most of these this year as well! To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before… I squealed so much as well <3 In the middle of Starbucks, no less! I really want to read the Sea of Tranquility; it's been on a lot of lists today.
Jamie says
YES squealing is like a natural reaction to that book I think!! Reading in public can be so awkward sometimes. I hope you get to Sea of Tranquility soon!!
tabithasbookblog says
I haven’t read all of the books on your list, but the ones I have read are incredible! I’m so excited to finally read Life By Committee (copy just came in from the library) and a few others!
Great list!!
Jamie says
Tabitha! YOU HAVE TO LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!! It’s such a complicated and messy book but so damn good!
Christina says
I want Landline now! I adore Rainbow and can’t wait to get my hands on it. Since You’ve Been Gone and How to Love are both fantastic!
Jamie says
I hope you love Landline like I did. GOD I JUST NEED MORE BOOKS FROM HER!

Falling into Place and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before on my TBR!

I’m really intrigued by Falling into Place and need to read it. ASAP!
Also, anytime you feel like sharing your secrets of setting up your posts, I am all ears. 🙂
Jamie says
I use Picmonkey!! That’s the secret. I’ve just played around with it A LOT. Like for years. My earlier stuff is god awful and ugly hahah
Dara says
I read your review of If I Lie and then decided to grab a copy. I finished it in just two days. I cried when I finished it. It is so touching! Thank you for the review. I’m definitely grabbing a copy of each book you mention in this list 🙂
Jamie says
THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY! Thank you for telling me that, Dara!! <33 I'm so happy you loved it too! I SOBBED. Let me know what you think of the others when you get to them (even if you don't like them!!)
Rebecca @ The Library Canary says
Love all the quotes you put in the boxes from your reviews. Such pretty writing. You should totally get to work on that novel. 🙂 I need to read a lot of these still, but I did love LBC. I thought it was so real and so good and I just was completely wrapped up in the story.
Jamie says
Thank you, Rebecca!! I kind of thought it would be nice to do a blurb and I am pleased with how it turned out! AND THANK YOU. I feel like NOT a writer at ALL. I want to write this story so bad but I feel like my writing is like a 5th grader lol. SO I FEEL BETTER.
Mel@thedailyprophecy says
I will be reading Falling into place soon. I snatched a copy from Edelweiss. Open road summer has been on my radar after seeing a lot of positive feedback from some trusted bloggers. I’m also interested in How to love. Great recommendations, I’m going to check them out 🙂

Oh I hope you love them as much as I did!!! I will be stalking you for updates 😛
Holly says
