My youngest sister, my dad, my sister Angela and I. LOVE IT.
JUNE In One Word
Everything I did pretty much was related to my sister’s wedding
5 Things About My Life In June:
1. My younger sister (Genevieve & Adela’s mom) got married!! It was stressful leading up to it because my sister is suuuuper laid back and not at all good at these sorts of things so I did a lot of THINGS as MOH to make sure everything ran smoothly. BUT it was a super fun wedding and my sister looked seriously gorgeous! And as I speak right now we have the 4 girls to take care of for a week while they are on their honeymoon! Thankfully the boys are staying with my dad for the week.
2. Will got a new job!! — I am so, so excited. My brother-in-law was able to get him in the door at his company when something opened up and HE GOT IT. It couldn’t have come at a better time and, as you all know, things have been rough for us in the past couple years so this was AWESOME NEWS. Waaaay better pay, better commute, benefits and tons of room for growth!!
3. LOTS of World Cup watching: We watch a lot of soccer in general in our household (mostly Will getting up early to watch while I blog and watch next to him) but we’ve been non-stop with the World Cup. We went to a crazy bar for the first US game and I felt like I was at a frat party getting beer thrown at me. We’ve had lots of World Cup fun so far going to different bars and watching with people.
4. My blog turned 4!!— Sometimes I’m like I ONLY HAVE BEEN DOING THIS FOR 4 YEARS and other days I’m like HOLY CRAP 4 YEARS THAT IS A LOT OF TIME. I reflected upon how book blogging has changed my life in these 4 years.
5. I signed up for a 5k! So if you heard the story of my first 5K fail, you know it did not end well. SO I signed up for another one for July as part of the YA Runs A 5K!
6 Songs That Were Most Popular On My Ipod This Month:
I put all my Monthly Rewinds In a Spotify playlist so you can listen to them here now ! I also have a June playlist filled with other AWESOME songs that wouldn’t fit on here.
1. Rollercoaster by Bleachers
2. Whispers by Passenger
3. Skin & Bone by Stu Larsen
4. Bloodlines by Mimicking Birds
5. Same Mistakes by The Echo-Friendly
6. Love In Stereo by Sky Ferreira
Follow my JUNE playlist
Top 3 Books I Read This Month:
I read 6 books this month which is more than I thought considering ALL THE THINGS I had to do for my sister’s wedding.
1. I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson — I gave a really short “Save the Date” with my thoughts. Full review to come! Seriously, if you are on the fence with checking this one out look at my thoughts!
2. Tease by Amanda Maciel — I had some issues with characterization outside the main character but this book, as a concept, was AWESOME. A book about bullying from the POV of one of the bullies. Very realistic feeling!
3. Brazen by Katherine Longshore: I am a Reign addict and this historical fiction book was a fun romp through royal life in King Henry VIII court! (review to come)
Most Popular Review This Month
Tease by Amanda Maciel was definitely very popular because it’s a bit of a difficult one to swallow so I’m not surprised it was my most popular review!
Most Popular 5 Blog Posts Overall This Month
1. How 4 Years Of Book Blogging Has Changed My Life— It was really nice to reflect on how this journey has changed my life.
2. When the well-rounded reader finds herself not so well-rounded anymore— I shared about how I felt I was always an eclectic reader and then realized, when looking at the books I’ve read in the past year or so, that maybe I’m not anymore?
3. 5 Things You Could Do To Piss Me Off As A Reader: Your comments further prove you are all my people!

Favorite Quote From A Book I Read In June
From Gayle Forman’s novella, Just One Night. SWOON.
“And the kiss feels like something completely new. But it also feels like something deeply known.”
5 Posts I Starred In My Reader That You Should Check Out
1. Kick Feedburner To The Curb: I’ve thought Feedburner was a pain in the butt for quite sometime with all its shenanigans of not showing all your followers and doing crazy things. I have been putting off switching but Hannah’s post is giving me motivation!
2. The First Step To Anything Is Show Up: I feel like I needed to hear this right now! “Stop talking about how much you want something, and just start showing up. Let your actions do the talking.”
3. How Self Aware Should Someone Be?: Some definite food for thought! Especially as someone who feels like they are pretty self aware. LOTS TO THINK ABOUT. And I love that the convo stemmed from a book!
4.The Truth About Social Media : One of those things I always try to think about but sometimes I lose sight of it and get caught up in this envious state. Always a nice reminder!
5. 5 Travel Mistakes I Keep Making Again and Again: This is one of my favorite travel blogs and her honesty is so refreshing. I loved this post because it’s nice to see even seasoned pros don’t have it together when it comes to travel!
Pick a category (or 5… or all of them) and tell me what went on in YOUR life in June!! What sort of things were noteworthy for you in May? New obsessions? Any new song recs?? Best books you read this month? Great posts I missed on your blog?

Oh my goodness, congrats on your sister’s marriage! You guys all look gorgeous!! I can’t believe my own wedding is coming up so soon… I keep freaking out that I’ve forgotten something major and there wont’ be enough time to get it done before the wedding or something. Your June sounds crazy busy! I looove Sherlock! I actually still need to finish watching season 3. As far as what I’m looking forward to in July.. my wedding! and honeymoon! I can’t wait to relax for a week after all this stress, haha. And we also bought a house (closing tomorrow!!) so we’ll be moving as well. CRAZINESS ALL AROUND. Good luck on the 5K! I’ve been trying to get back into running and went on my first in a looong time yesterday and nearly died. I got that runkeeper app so hopefully that’ll keep me more on track and motivated? Fingers crossed, haha. Also — that is AWESOME about Will’s job!! I’m job hunting currently. It sucks. Anyway, have fun with your nieces this week!

Seems like June is always the crazy wedding month! I had a wedding as well, in which I was a bridesmaid. Being the MOH would be SO much harder, though! I just helped with some things and tagged along through all of the shopping ;p Pretty easy stuff. Fun weekend.
WOW FOUR YEARS IS A LONG TIME! Congrats on persisting with it! I aspire to blog for that long, and hopefully more 🙂
Also, congrats on your husband getting a new and better job! That’s awesome. I understand the frustration of hard times…when I first met my boyfriend, he was working at McDonalds :p and now he’s got a big boy job that pays extremely well and it just makes things easier when he can at least match my income.
I went out to Buffalo Wild Wings for the US vs. Portugal soccer match. OMG. People went crazy when we scored twice. It was awesome! Such a disappointment that we tied though! And unfortunately US is out now 🙁 My boyfriend has watched the World Cup non stop since it started! He plays FIFA on his xbox like… all the time.
And I love playlists! I will go listen to yours! The song I have stuck on repeat right now is “I See Fire” by Ed Sheeran! I’ve probably listened to it 50 times in the past 24 hours… and I’m probably not exaggerating… XD

Congrats on running your 1st 5K and for signing up for another. You rock! Woohoo!
With all you had going on, I don’t know how you found time to breath, let alone read and blog.
Hugs.

Awe! Love the pic of you with your dad & sisters. So beautiful. That pulled pork grilled cheese sounds amazing. WHEN I come to visit, you must take me there 😉 Going to check out the songs you posted. I can always use a Jamie inspired playlist. Good luck on the 5k run! Running is definitely not my thing, so I admire those who go after it.
My month of June was…… busy + relaxing. How’s that? haha Took a vacation to the beach house with the fam + spent some lazy days by the pool. I’ve been enjoying this no school thing while it lasts. In another month my life will be all kinds of crazy with quitting my job & starting student teaching full time & THEN COLLEGE GRADUATION. AHHHHHHHHHH!

I started watching Chasing Life too and like it so far! I’m a fan of Leo, ’cause I know him as Cappie from GREEK haha. And his character personality wise is VERY Cappie-esque.
New obsession: My mum bought these popsicle molds and I’ve been making so many popsicles! My favorite is to mix a fruit puree that I made with strawberries and kiwis with vanilla greek yogurt and a little vanilla ice cream to sweeten it a bit. SO yummy!
New song recs: “Tenerife Sea” and “Afire Love” off of Ed Sheeran’s new album. My top 2 fave songs off of it! The whole album is BRILLIANT though.
Lucy Hale’s new album, “Road Between”! Especially the songs “Lie A Little Better” and “That’s What I Call Crazy”.
http://8tracks.com/likewhoaaemmy <– I also make mixes there 🙂

1. "Since You've Been Gone" by: Morgan Matson

4. "Legend" by: Marie Lu

Congrats to Will and to your sister! Sounds like it was a great month!

I’ve been stuck to the telly lately whenever the World Cup is on! And I’m so excited for the quarterfinals but also really nervous. I’m rooting for Germany and they’re playing against France and AHHH. And have fun on the colour run. There were so many in June where I live but I’m just so out of it and never know when anything is happening. I really regret not signing up because it seems like so much fun. Seriously, if there’s any time you could get me to run a 5 kilometers (besides when my life is in danger), it would be then.
Jayvee @ Writer For Misfits says
Congratulations on hitting a 4 Jamie! 🙂 I’m so glad to be able to talk to you at times and share some book obsessions too. Your blog has also become an inspiration to make mine better! You are awesome and I can’t wait to get that chance to meet you sometime! 🙂 4 more years and further! 🙂

Congratulations on your sister’s wedding! That’s so incredibly exciting!
And congratulations again for Will getting his new job; best of luck!
More congratulations on the blog turning 4! I’ve been blogging 8 (?) months so far and 4 years is so impressive! I love following along with your posts!
I have been watching the World Cup as well and I’ve loved keeping up with the games and how everything’s been going on.
In terms of music for the month, I haven’t been into anything in particular, but I’m reading Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour and The Hush Sound references are making me dive back into one of my favorite albums by them. Can’t wait to check out your suggestions! I absolutely adore Sherlock; Benedict Cumberbatch is amazing and Sherlock and Watson have this particular, hilarious banter in that show.
I also read Just One Day recently and I agree that there a lot of great quotes within it. This is an awesome post and I’ll be sure to check out those posts sometime too!
