Oof…pretty telling where I’ve been at lately that my MARCH rewind is happening in like mid-April. I’ve been busy busy busy and…tired. But here we go anyways…

1. I returned to the blog: YEAAAAAY. Finally some motivation came my way after quite a long break….the first time I’ve ever been away from the blog in my almost 7 years of blogging.

2. The bump got reaaaaaal — I mean, there is no denying that there is a baby in there. Plus she’s kicking like crazy now which still scares me sometimes when she does it out of nowhere. I’m 27 weeks now and besides heartburn, some pelvis pain and finding it harder to do things like turn over in bed and put my pants on…things have been good.

3. My poor car that I’ve had since college has to be replaced: It’s a 20 year old car that I’ve had since college and we were looking to replace it anyways because it just didn’t seem super safe for a baby. BUT I had to get it inspected and they said it needed 1300 bucks worth of repairs and SO MUCH NOPE. Soooooo I’m going to be buying my first car soon at 31 years of age??! TOO MUCH ADULTING IS HAPPENING.

4. Bought a few outfits for the baby: I’ve been holding off on buying clothes for her until after my shower and I go through some hand-me-downs from people but I really did want to buy her a couple of things that were my taste ANNNND they were such a good deal.

 5. Honestly my March was A LOT about getting our apartment ready for the baby: We had a relatively boring month but we were SOOOO productive. I’ve had so much energy so I’ve been trying to get things done around the apartment. LOTS of cleaning and organizing and making room. BORING but necessary…plus it helped that some of these weekends we’ve had were cold or rainy.

“Dreams are lovely. But they are just dreams. Fleeting, ephemeral. Pretty. But dreams do not come true just because you dream them. It’s hard work that makes things happen. It’s hard work that creates change.” ― Shonda Rhimes, Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person

1. Golden Chicken Lentil Soup: I love a good soup and this looks delicious. Although I’m not really a soup fan when it gets warm out so miiiight have to save this one for Fall or if there are any upcoming rainy spring days.

2. Seeing My Body With Fresh Eyes: Really enjoyed this read!

3. You Can Make Excuses Or You Can Make Progress: Little inspiration for sure!

4. DIY Baby Bookshelves I mean, relevant. Had to save it for later.

5. 5 Neutral Shoes For Spring: I was decluttering my closet and got rid of a bunch of shoes I never wear soooo I’m in the market to add a couple new pairs that I will actually wear!

1. My new lunch go-to’s: In the 5 years that we’ve been married our lunch/dinner routine has basically been that whatever we make for dinner is our lunch the next day. So that meant cooking at least 5 days a week. Recently we decided to try experimenting with having one thing for lunch and then make less meals after work by having our “leftovers” for dinner again the next night rather than for our lunch. It’s been quite a bit less stressful. With that change I have had to find THINGS to make for my lunch for the whole week — which YAY time to go through my Pinterest full of lunch ideas that I’ve never been able to use because we don’t do just “lunch” as a meal. I’m obsessed with this wrap and this pasta salad and this sandwich.

2. Pregnancy lifesavers:– LET ME TELL YOU. Sleeping while pregnant is a feat. My new bff is my pregnancy body pillow — this thing is THE BEST. My second lifesaver is my FULL PANELED LEGGINGS & JEANS. I GAVE IN. They are ugly as sin but let me tell you how comfy they are when you have a huge bump sticking out of you. I had some jeggings that still fit but it’s so not comfy to have your pants below your bump. EMBRACING THE STEVE URKEL PANTS.

3. A new shampoo & conditioner: I’ve used this Acure shampoo for the past few years but they just came out with a new kind and it smells so good and is PERFECT for my dry curly hair. It’s great to be able to alternate between these two now because the other two in their line aren’t really meant for my hair type.

Wellllll since the month is half over…..I would have said traveling up to my dad’s for my grandma’s surprise 80th bday party which was nice to see family I haven’t seen in a while, one of my bffs having her baby (she’s due April 26 so I’m excited…the first of the 4 of us to have babies in the next few months) and lots of planned dinner dates with friends.

I’ve been doing some spring cleaning while I have the energy so I want to know….what’s your best cleaning/organizing hack (or just tell me if you have a great system)??

lets-talk

Pick a category (or 5… or all of them) and tell me what went on in YOUR life this month!! What sort of things were noteworthy for you this month? New obsessions? Any new song recs?? Best books you read this month? Great posts I missed on your blog? Answer to my question of the month?

  1. When’s your baby shower? I have a few outfits for her and want to know when I should send them out 🙂
I’m a WRECK when it comes to cleaning/organizing haha. I get motivated and then 30 mins in… just don’t want to do it anymore lol. But I guess my “hack” is to focus on one area at a time, don’t overload yourself!
No new obsessions for me, really. Which is odd?? haha. I’ve been obsessed with washi tape for awhile (I have over 100 rolls, oops).
New song recs? “Sign of the Times” by: Harry Styles, “Never Too Far Gone” by: Jordan Feliz (I can’t not dance to this song), and “Unsteady” by: X Ambassadors.
Best books I read in March? The Red Queen series (Victoria Aveyard) and both of Sarah Andersen’s “Sarah Scribbles” books!
Things I’m looking forward to in May? ACOWAR FINALLY BEING OUT!! Lucifer finally being back on my tv!! My local ice cream shop HOPEFULLY opening for the season. Always and Forever, Lara Jean publishing!!

    • My shower is the first Saturday in May! 🙂 You are too kind!!!!!
Oof that’s me with cleaning….I can’t focus for too long haha.

SOOOOO excited for Always and Forever, Lara Jean!!!!

  2. Obsessions? Knitting socks. Just started and the heels are kicking my butt! But doing the #100dayproject and concentrating on a knitting rotation. Plants are the second obsession – started seedlings (way to early for Montana weather) and received some new orchids. Removing stressors from my life—so I quit my part-time job to become a full-time grandmother, house cleaner, cook and appointment maker/taker. Three more weeks of work, but already the level of stress is down.

And the Year of Yes is a great book! Loved it.

  3. What a cute bump! =) I remember at the end of my pregnancy, when he was just stuffed in there w/no more room, when he’d move, I’d get a big lump where his head or butt was sticking out. So weird, lol!

  4. So great! I love your monthly rewind posts so much.

  5. I think The Names They Gave Us is my ~favorite favorite~ of her books too. I didn’t know what I’d think of it but it was amazing.

I like your lunch idea! We do the same thing – cook dinner and have leftovers for lunch. I’m not really picky about lunch and it gets to be a huge hassle to make a million dinners each week, so maybe I should get in on that. I also love making a crockpot full of shredded taco chicken and using it for EVERYTHING in the next week’s lunches — quesadillas, tacos, salads, etc.

  6. I’ve been so out of the blog loop for EVER that I need to catch up on all your posts haha but I’m excited to hear about all your baby developments! It feels like it’s going by so quick, one minute you’re announcing your pregnancy, and the next it’s 27 WEEKS LATER haha <3

I hate cooking so much, so I'm really impressed that you've been managing to do it 5 days a week. When I AM good at adulting, my go-to lunch is this smashed chickpea salad from Smitten Kitchen: https://smittenkitchen.com/2009/01/smashed-chickpea-salad/ SO good on toast. Also this sandwich is SO SO GOOD – you can buy the beet hummus just from Trader Joe's too: http://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/esmagazine/rachel-khoo-super-veg-sandwich-9598257.html

    Hope all is wellllll

  7. What an interesting post! A cute picture of your baby bump, some good books, good music, and a couple of good recipes.

I’m taking courses online to complete my Masters degree, so I haven’t been able to read anything on my to read list. And I don’t have much extra time to look into new reads to add to my list either. I miss reading so much, but studies are much more important for now.

The pasta salad recipe you posted looks DELICIOUS. I’m not a huge fan of zucchini, but I’m definitely going to make this one. It looks so good. I love pasta salads for a quick snack, taking to work for lunch, and even eating for dinner. Thanks for this one!!

Hope the pregnancy is going well. I will continue to follow your blog. It’s so much fun! :o)
