10 Fantasy Books I’ve Added To My TBR Lately

Fantasy Books On My List To Read

I was supposed to have a Q&A with Sarah Dessen going up for today but unfortunately, time-wise, it wasn’t able to work out. I’m hoping maybe soon I’ll get the answers back and will be able to have that up eventually.

I don’t like double posting so this post was scheduled for tomorrow and I just decided to schedule for today instead and take part in Top Ten Tuesday, hosted at my other blog I take part in with some awesome ladies, instead of being a day late with it.

So, check out what fantasy books I’ve added to my TBR lately. PLEASE tell me what fantasy has gotten added to your TBR lately!

The Last Namsara

1. The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli: DRAGONSSSSSSS. And slaying. And other things. But dragons, guys.

2. Jane, Unlimited by Kristin Cashore: I’ve heard this is AMAAAAAAAZING. I have not read *hangs head in shame* her previous series but if this goes well for me I will likely binge that one.

Jane, Unlimited

3. Shimmer and Burn by Mary Taranta: “To save her sister’s life, Faris must smuggle magic into a plague-ridden neighboring kingdom

Even the darkest stars

4. Even the Darkest Stars by Heather Fawcett: a fantasy inspired loosely by the early climbers of Mt. Everest? YES. So here for an explorer/adventure type story!

Mask of Shadows

5. Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller: the main character, who has been living as a thief, auditions to become an assassin for the Queen

Reign the Earth

6. Reign the Earth by A.C. Gaughen: a girl realizes she has the power to control the earth on the same day she marries the king who hunted the Elementae to extinction.

The Belles

7. The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton: Literally one of my most anticipated books for this year but I just TECHNICALLY added it to my TBR. I’m so bad at adding things to Goodreads to keep track of my TBR.

Beasts Made Of The Night

8. Beasts Made of Night: A Nigerian influenced fantasy that I am sooo excited about

Song of the Current

9.Β  Song of the Current by Sarah Tolcser: Epic fantasy + pirates + set on the sea

Wicked like a wildfire

10. Wicked Like a Wildfire by Lana Popovic: Twin sisters + magical abilities + family curse

PS. Check out what historical reads I’ve added to my TBR lately! Or, if you don’t want a themed list, check out my New to the Queue post to see what I’ve added to my queues of things to read/watch/listen to.

About Jamie

Jamie is a 32 year old married lady (with a new baby!!) who is in denial that she's actually that old to be a married lady and a mom. When she's not reading you can find her doing Pilates followed by eating ice cream, belting out Hamilton (loud and offkey) and having adventures with her husband, daughter and rescue dog.

  1. There are some books on here that have really caught my eye! I’ve heard good things about The Belle! I hope you enjoy these books when you get around to them.

  2. These all sound so good! Song of the Current is new to me. It sounds super intriguing. I’m adding it to my Goodreads TBR list right now. Thanks for the heads-up.

  3. Oh! I don’t know about her new one, but Kristin Cashore’s Graceling and Fire are welllll worth your time. I’ve re-read them at least three times each – I read about a hundred books a year and these two are still probably on my top-10 favorites of all time list.

  4. Great list! Reign the Earth sounds really interesting – if you’re into elemental fantasy I recommend checking out N.K. Jemisin’s Broken Earth trilogy if you haven’t already, it’s amazing. =)

  5. The Belles I have on my list as well. The Last Namsara and The Mask of Shadows sound pretty great as well.

  6. Great list! I’ll have to add some of these to my TBR! I’m really excited about Song of the Current, I love pirate stories and I’m glad there are a few coming out this year! Happy reading!

  20. These all look awesome!!

  21. I love your images – like the main picture for this post. πŸ™‚ So beautiful. Is there a special program you use to create them? If so, do you mind sharing?

  22. Rachel Bishop says:

My daughters both love fantasy, it’s not my thing. But these will be great recs for their summer reading requirements. My oldest went dystopian for her book that she has to write on. She is writing about what someone is “worth” and she picked Meritropolis by Joel Ohman, it’s a perfect example of what she is writing about and also a fantastic read.
