14 Romantic Reads For Valentine’s Day

Check Out These New Romance Books For Valentine's Day

It’s confession time, okay? I used to be a book snob. It’s true. I totally used to turn my nose up to the very sorts of books I now love. When I first started reading more “chick lit”/romance/lighter reads I used to be like yeaaaaah these are my ~guilty pleasure~. UGH, self, ughhhh. You all know how I don’t believe in guilty pleasures at all but it wasn’t always so. Now I’m pretty loud and proud about whatever it is I’m into but…I used to feel ashamed for liking romance type books/storylines.

I’ve really been craving ~romantic reads~ read now and I thought it would be fun to put together a list of recently released/soon to be released romantic reads I’m planning to read sometime just in time for Valentine’s Day (or any day, obviously).

I would love love love to hear your favorite romantic reads (whether they be actual romance novels or any kind of book with a romance storyline!) in the comments!

Books To Read: The Corner of Forever and Always

The Corner of Forever and Always by Lia Riley

I love that this romance takes place at a historical amusement park in a small town in Georgia! I love less than usual type settings.

Romance Books To Read: The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory

The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory

I loooove romances where they start out as a fake couple/relationship/date and then grow into something more — this gives me The Proposal-esque vibes.

Books To Read: Christina Lauren

Roomies by Christina Lauren
Out December 2017

Just like with The Wedding Date above…I love a good faux romance turned real but this one is a marriage of convenience so even BETTER. NYC/Broadway setting also catches my eye!

Books To Read: Broken Beautiful Hearts

Broken Beautiful Hearts by Kami Garcia

This looks like such an emotional romance read! While I always love a light and fun romance, I am always super drawn to really intense ones!

Unraveled by Lauren Dane
Out January 30

This is definitely the book I’m going to grab for when I’m wanting something super hot and sexy. Love that the heroine is in a punk rock band and works at a place that’s part whiskey bar, part barbershop.  The setting sounds real cool!

Books To Read: Meet Cute

Meet Cute anthology

Ahh this looks like such a feel good collection of stories from authors I love and I’ve heard wonderful things so far!

Books To Read: Cake At Midnight

New Books To Read: Surprise Me by Sophie Kinsella

Surprise Me by Sophie Kinsella

I always can count on Sophie Kinsella when I need a good romantic read and this one sounds interesting — a husband and wife on a mission to try to keep their marriage fresh and surprise each other so things never get boring!

Books To Read: Say You'll Remember Me

Say You’ll Remember Me by Katie McGarry

I loooove romances where the couple come from totally different backgrounds (he’s a “delinquent” and she’s the wealthy governor’s daughter) and it’s a semi-forbidden romance between two opposites of sort.

The main character and the love interest were both survivors of a traumatic event in their small town 12 years before and are reunited when the main character returns for a documentary the survivors are going to be part of.

About Jamie

Jamie is a 32 year old married lady (with a new baby!!) who is in denial that she's actually that old to be a married lady and a mom. When she's not reading you can find her doing Pilates followed by eating ice cream, belting out Hamilton (loud and offkey) and having adventures with her husband, daughter and rescue dog.

Comments

  1. And my booklist keeps increasing. Thanks for the list.

  2. I highly recommend Kristan Higgins – Now That You Mention It and On Second Thought. LOVE her adult contemporary/romance. Also, anything by Rachel Higginson. Slow burn romances that are so good.

  3. Ooooooo I’ll have to check out some of these. Especially Unraveled. In February I think I’m only going to read romance (for Valentines Day of course) and books by black authors (for black history month) – bonus if it’s both. One of the ones I”m super excited about is An Extraordinary Union which is a civil war romance, and a friend of mine is obsessed with Tessa Dare so I’m going to try her out. Then I’ve pre-ordered Love over Lattes and it’s a debut that looks SO CUTE!

  4. Meet Cute is a very good book, I loved it! Some of the stories were a bit hit and miss but I suppose that’s what you expect from an anthology 🙂 Great post, loved this <3

  5. I don’t often read romance, i think last year i read 1.
Meet Cute looks interesting tho. I think i’d like that one 🙂

  6. Nice list. The Meet Cute anthology is something I want to read soon.
Haha.. I know what you mean, I was quite a chicklit snob.. But after discovering some really nice ones(especially after I started blogging), I have realised it is just like any other genre .. With its share of “good” and “bad” books.

I read Long Steady Distance by Helena Hill a couple of days ago. It is a short read, but really sweet story about two girls Emily and Sophie who are a part of the school’s run team. Sophie is the new girl and Emily helps in managing and admin tasks.
It also tackles a teen’s anxieties about coming out, especially when belonging to a conservative family.

Another book I liked was First Crush Last Love by Elizabeth McKenna. It was predictable but a nice read.. And also features a bit of passive domestic abuse which I thought was depicted well

  7. Half of these books are on my goodreads. They didn’t make my list because it would’ve been too long. I’m definitely adding Meet Cute anthology to my list. Thanks for the recs!

  8. I’m glad I found your blog. I really need to get more of a clue with modern books in the romance genre. My two favourite romantic books that I would recommend are old-school and probably aren’t typical of the romance genre, but anyway, Tully (P Simons) and Sundowners (L Lokko). Cheers.

  9. I love romance books too! Your reviews are great now I know what I will be taking a way with on my travels.

  10. This is such a great list! I want to read all of these!

  11. I am always looking for a good read! By the Book caught my eye, I might read that one next!
    xo- Kam

  12. LOVE the list, I’ve always loved reading romance novels! I am a big fan of Cecelia Ahern who has a few good ones. I will be adding the Sophie Kinsella book to my list, so thanks!

  13. I am SO VERY EXCITED for Surprise Me! Sophie Kinsella is always a great pick-me-up.

  14. Awesome list, cant believe i haven’t read any of those. will love to read

The Corner of Forever and Always by Lia Riley and
Broken Beautiful Hearts by Kami Garcia

  15. This book collections looks so great! I need to get more reading

  16. I haven’t read any of these books on your list, but I’m going to have to check them out! The Meet Cute anthology sounds like such a cute read and I’ve been hearing good things about it. For cute contemporaries, I’m always a fan of Kasie West, Huntley Fitzpatrick, Morgan Matson, and Stephanie Perkins!

  17. I’ve been loving K.A. Tucker’s books recently. And Alice Clayton’s Hudson Valley series. They are so fun and just what I want when I want a quick read story. I’m definitely adding some of these to my list!

  18. I was looking for a new romance book for valentines. I love this list. I definitely have to get meet-cute! I love short love stories!

  19. I am gonna have to bookmark this one. The covers suggest that they are all cute and perfect for the V day. I have meet cute on my TBR already.
