This post is brought to you by The Novl who so kindly sent me a copy of The Cruel Prince (out now!) and is partnering with me for this giveaway you’ll find down below!
Ever since I was little I always found myself fascinated by villains of a story — especially Disney villains. I always wanted to be the princess but there was some pull to the villains I couldn’t explain. And as an adult? I am OBSESSED with a good villain or a morally grey character or a villain origin story. I can’t help it and I don’t know what it says about me but I DO. I’m a HUFFLEPUFF DAMMIT…why am I so into villains??! But honestly a well written and convincing villain is the best.
I was talking Walking Dead with a friend recently and talked about how I’m so obsessed with Negan (Negan and also Jefferey Dean Morgan lol) and she’s like BUT HE’S SO TERRIBLE??! And I’m just…but there is just something so achingly compelling about him that I can’t get enough of and I WANT to know. And honestly? I think everyone has a little villain in them. I know I do…if I’m being honest.
That’s one of the things that drew me to one of my most anticipated reads for 2018 — The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. The book is set in a cruel Fae world with bloodthirsty, wicked royal fae and the main character is a mortal, brought to live there after the fae murdered her parents, who starts to tap into a more morally grey side of herself she never knew she had to win a place in the court. I started The Cruel Prince yesterday after Riley went to bed and woo boy I can tell it’s already going to murdery and dark and with the kind of villainy I like and all sorts of moral greyness. I dig it.
I thought it would be fun, in honor of my love for villainy and reading a book that gives me those kind of FEELS, to create a shopping guide for all the people who appreciate and embrace a good villain…and maybe even dabble in their own villainous side once in a while.
So this one’s for you — all my semi evil queens whose souls are cold and hearts are blacker than black. This list is HIGHLY inspired by my favorite Disney villains, fyi.

About The Cruel Prince
By #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black, the first book in a stunning new series about a mortal girl who finds herself caught in a web of royal faerie intrigue.
Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.
To win a place at the Court, she must defy him—and face the consequences.
In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

Oh how fun!!!! What awesome items! 🙂
Emma Wiley says
My favorite villain is a crazy one like the joker or one from a Poe story!
Kayla Whitter says
I think the best kind of villain is one that you can actually connect to – you know you should hate them, but for some reason you’re compelled by them.
Stephanie says
One of my favorite villains of all time is The Darkling from the Grisha Trilogy. I have a hard time not rooting for him.
Brittany says
I love so many villains, including Moriarty in Sherlock, Scorpius in Farscape, Loki in the MCU films and in Norse Mythology, Count Fosco in The Woman in White, Klaus in The Vampire Diaries, and Spike (“The Big Bad”) in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Brittany @ Novelly Yours Candles says
This is such a fun post!! I LOVE all of those shirts! Thank you so much for including the Villainous candle! <333

I always thought it was just me. But for me it wasn’t the villain in the fairy tales, I always like the evil vampires when I was in my teens/pre-teens: Angelus, Deacon Frost, Damon in the vampire diaries (books no tv series back then). I still love Lestat from the vampire chronicles, he’s my favourite literary character. I think this is more to do with my vampire obsession (pre-twilight era, 90s and early 00s) and not so much a villain thing but it’s good to know it’s not just me. The villain ares always more interesting aren’t they? They have all the funny lines (Unless you’re Blade)
Jordan Rose says
I love a villain that is a little deranged/extremely clever. I like strong villains that really give the ‘hero’ a run for their money. Or one that blurs the lines and makes a hero really question things.
Tizzy Brown says
I love a good villain! I’m into Loki, Malfoy and other smart types that might have a few redeeming qualities despite making questionable choices. The Cruel Prince sounds like an interesting book. My sister would love all of those products, she is a pure Slytherin.
Marie says
I like villains that I can empathize with. Queen Levana was evil for sure, but I still felt pity for her. I understood why she felt the need to do some of what she did. It did start from a good place, but it soon turned…. bad.
Kathleen P says
I love Disney villains in general, but my favorite is Maleficent!
bn100 says
no fav
Elizabeth O says
I really enjoyed this post, it was so creative to include so many villianous items. I really like the top that says “wicked laughter continues” – the book sounds really good too, must check it out 🙂
Anna @ The Bibliotaph says
I especially love the black heart earrings – I would wear those in a heartbeat.
Thanks for putting together such a fun and lovely shopping guide!
Jamie says
RIGHT? They are so cute!!
Kanishka Acharya says
The bug gif really caught me off guard XD I was like what the heck is on my screen. Anyways I am a sucker for black! And heck yeah I appreciate a lil sassy villain in me and these look perfect for appreciating it.
Jamie says
lol it totally did the same to me!!
Karla says
I just joined your giveaway! I’m a super fan of Disney!!! Would love to have the shirts about the villains 😂
Jamie says
Eee good luck! There were SO many Disney villain shirts I wanted to put on here but I’m like omg this is going to be way too long of a post!!
Julie Daniels says
Wow! What awesome merch! I especially love the Make me your Villain candle. I need one of those asap! I just finished reading the Grisha trilogy finally and I must say my opinion of the Swelling changed drastically throughout the trilogy. I hated him as a true villain for a while yet came to love him. The series wouldn’t have been what it was without him. And he was maybe the strongest character in the whole story.
Jamie says
YAS I love when the villain is pretty much the best part/strongest of a story. It’s so much more compelling to me!
Holly Lasha says
Looks like some great finds. Thank you for sharing!
Maud says
Ah ah love this post. I know quite a few people who’d love a present like the ones mentioned. Fab fab fab
Kaila Williams says
Ooooo, this sounds like something I can get right up into! I just finished re-reading Prince of Thorns a few months ago and am currently listening to King of Thorns when I can find the time. The main character in that is very dark, definitely leaning more to the villainous side of the spectrum and I LOVE that so much. It’s so refreshing to have an anti-hero every once in a while.
Jamie says
Oooh I need to check that book out!
Emily @ Falling For YA says
I really love a villian I don’t see coming. One that has a solid backstory and feels like they could be a good character… but then the author does a full transformation and suddenly there is an amazing villain. The Darkling is one of my favorite examples.
Margie aka thebumblegirl says
My favorite villains are Rumpelstiltskin and Maleficent – there’s just something about a sassy villain that makes my life complete, lol!
Iman says
Wow, I love the one about eyelashes!! Lol. It’s so cute!
Stacy says
LOVE this! My favorite is the “resting witch face” shirt! Great info! Thanks for the ideas!
Jenni LeBaron says
Same girl, same. When I was little I begged my mom for a Lion King Scar toy, while my friends played with Simba. I’ve always loved the villains best for some reason. They seem to have more layers. I’m adding this book to my to-read list. If you’d like to share reads you can find me on Goodreads!
Emma @ Miss Print says
I didin’t even think I was a villain at heart but I want all of these things. (I make jokes about warming my cold, black heart or my black nails matching my heart all the time, so maybe I am a villain?!) My favorite cartoon villain is Maleficent. Movie villain is Neff in Double Indemnity. Book villain: Eli Ever from Vicious. He is the best but also the worst.
Mike Morgan says
great conept!
Melissa says
My favorite villain is Sebastian from Mortal Instruments! He’s such an interesting character, evil but with some compassion buried deep too – he fascinates me!
Chelsea Smith says
Awesome giveaway! I would pick Vito Corleone.
Berniedette | PetiteAndToned.com says
Oooo I love this villain collection!!! I think Maleficent is my fave.

This is such a great idea for a post, I love it! I’m also a hufflepuff with a weakness for villains so I relate 😛
Christina | From Under a Palm Tree says
OH I love your style girl! I feel like I already know the answer but do you or have you ever watched Once Upon a Time? I was obsessed with that show and they do a really good job of exploring the evil queen’s story too! Also I got really excited about this book, I really want to read it! I’m currently reading the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas which is about an assassin. I thought I would be kind of weirded out because the main character is an assassin but she’s actually amazing. If you haven’t read it I would definitely recommend it. I also read A Court of Thorns and Roses by SJMaas which is also about fairies and it’s amazing.
Kristen says
One of my favorite villains is Hades! Thanks for the awesome giveaway! 😊
Staci Watkins says
Awesome giveaway! I’m definitely a sucker for villains. One of my faves would have to be the Darkling.
Vanessa says
My favorite villain is the Darkling from the grisha trilogy.
Shakeia Rieux says
My favorite is Cruella De Vil
Nina says
Malificent was the best, she owns evil!
La La in the Library says
I’ll say Severus Snape even though I don’t consider him a true villian, because many people do. I like Snape as a book character because it shows how society can turn a person’s heart to black. Thanks for the fab contest. 💜
Maura says
I’m a sucker for fictional villains. Not so much in real life. I like when karma gets them! My favourite fictional villains are many, but Loki is my all time fav I would say. Thanks for the chance, sweetie!
Aarika says
I love this post! You share so many fabulous gifts for the villainous queens out there!!! I, too, appreciate a good complex villain!
Victoria says
‘Morally grey character’ – love it! I also love characters like that! I’m a Slytherin, so I think that explains a lot 😉
xo, Victoria
