My December TBR

So if you follow me on Facebook or Twitter (come join the fun there too!) you may have seen me talk about how I realized I only read baby-related books in the month of November so I vowed to myself that I was going to reclaim my reading life in December (what little of a reading life I have!) and I’m not going to read ANY baby-related books at all. So I figure I would post what I plan to read in December…accountability and all! I have off a week around Christmas so I’m hoping to get some reading done!

I’m trying to keep it totally reasonable even though in my head I want to read like 50 billion books. Let me know if you’ve read any of these or tell me which one should be my first priority! I’m also looking to add a holiday romance to this list but haven’t decided which one! Let me know in the comments if you have a favorite!

Foolish Hearts by Emma Millss

Foolish Hearts by Emma Mills

(the pre-order price for this book is a great deal if you are wanting to buy this book!!)

“A contemporary novel about a girl whose high school production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream leads her to new friends—and maybe even new love.”

I really enjoyed her most recent book This Adventure Ends so I’m really excited for this one!

Reign the Earth

Reign The Earth by A.C. Gaughen

A girl realizes she has the power to control the earth on the same day she marries the king who hunted the Elementae to extinction.

This sounds soooo good! I haven’t read her first series (though I own it) so I don’t know what to expect but I know she’s a favorite of a lot of friends!

Girl With The Red Balloon
The Girl With The Red Balloon by Katherine Locke

“When sixteen-year-old Ellie Baum accidentally time-travels via red balloon to 1988 East Berlin, she’s caught up in a conspiracy of history and magic. She meets members of an underground guild in East Berlin who use balloons and magic to help people escape over the Wall—but even to the balloon makers, Ellie’s time travel is a mystery. When it becomes clear that someone is using dark magic to change history, Ellie must risk everything—including her only way home—to stop the process.”

This is my current read actually! Started it last month but baby sleep books got in the way.

The Girl In Times Square

The Girl in Times Square by Paullina Simons

“Living in bustling New York City, Lily Quinn has plenty of distractions and is struggling to finish college as well as pay her rent. But that all pales in comparison when Amy, her best friend and roommate, disappears without a trace.

Spencer O’Malley, a cynical NYPD detective assigned to Amy’s case, immediately captures Lily’s attention. Though he is wary and wrestling with his own demons, he, too, is irresistibly drawn to Lily.

But fate has more in store for Lily than she ever expected. As she looks deeper into the mystery surrounding Amy’s disappearance, Lily finds answers she never imagined she’d find—answers that challenge everything she knows about her own life.

Lily’s search puts her on a collision course with tragedy and love, and gives her a glimpse into the abyss that swallowed her friend . . . until she faces a final confrontation with her own life-changing destiny.”

Far From The Tree by Robin Benway

“A contemporary novel about three adopted siblings who find each other at just the right moment.”

I love Robin’s books so much so I am DELIGHTED to finally read this…I’ve been hating that I was in the newborn fog and couldn’t get to this. I’m SO SO happy it’s received such high praise and is winning awards and things!

So what should I read first?? And remember…leave me any holiday romance recs in the comments! I’m really in the mood for that type of book right now!

What I Hope To Read In September

Operative word: HOPE. We all know that I’m a bit of a mood reader and always read based on my various reading whims but I do like to tackle the month with a little bit of a plan to guide me and make my decision of what to read next easier. So this is what I’m planning on reading:

Tonight The Streets Are Ours by Leila Sales: This is a September release and I’m super excited about it because I mega loved her book This Song Will Save Your Life! I love books that include road trips and spontaneous adventures plus conversations about online vs IRL perceptions & reality.

Dreamstrider by Lindsay Smith: This is an October release which a crazy awesome sounding concept! “A high-concept, fantastical espionage novel set in a world where dreams are the ultimate form of political intelligence.” UM YES.

Daughter of Smoke and Bones by Laini Taylor: Because I am the absolute last person in the world to read this series.

A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly: I have owned this book for YEAAAARS. It’s a historical fiction novel and it has always intrigued me!

Ash & Bramble by Sarah Prineas: Another September release! Cinderella retelling YAASS.

Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman: Definitely one of my most anticipated book of this year! Wild wild west…I’m so here for this!

Walk On Earth A Stranger by Rae Carson: I’ve been so excited for this one! It’s a mishmash of fantasy and historical fiction (Gold Rush!) and I have NOT read anything like that in the history of ever so I’m stoked!

What We Saw by Aaron Hartzler: This one sounds so emotional and hardhitting…and so so relevant with all the rape cases amongst young people in the news these days + rape culture.

All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doer: VICTORY IS MINE. I was number like 600 or something on my library waiting list for this one and it is finally miiiiiine!!!! I’ve heard it’s amazing!

So tell me..have you read any of these?? What books do you know for sure you are planning to get to this month? Also, if you need some recommendations for books to read check out my Whatcha In The Mood For? series in which I rec books based on genre and mood!

May To-Be-Read List

Hi guys! Here’s what’s on my TBR list for May! I’m a mood reader so typically TBR lists aren’t something I do but I’m TRYING. I feel like I got a variety of books in the stack to suit various moods!

I’ve put it in two formats — video for those of you who like that and I’ll post a picture and a sentence for each of them for those who don’t like watching video type stuff. The video is about 6 minutes and I go into a little more detail so FUN TIMES FOR ALL.

And for those who don’t want to watch a video:

Made You Up by Francesca Zappa: A May release about a girl who has schizophrenia. Really intrigued by the prospect of an unreliable narrator as she can’t always tell real from not real.

Strange & Ever After by Susan Dennard: Last book of this trilogy and OMG I CANNOT EVEN. I have been putting it off because I don’t want it to end. I highly recommend this trilogy  if you haven’t already read it.

A Straight Line to My Heart by Bill Condon: An Aussie book I picked up on a whim!

An Ember In Ashes by Sabaa Tahir: I’m excited to see what this fantasy is all about — the Rome-like setting is what sold it for me!

A Sense of the Infinite by Hilary T. Smith: I loved Hilary’s debut novel, Wild Awake, and this looks like a good one about friendship!

Hold Me Like A Breath by Tiffany Schmidt: CRIME FAMILY FAIRYTALE RETELLING! Princess & the Pea!

Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen: New Sarah Dessen! Nuff said!

The Survival Kit by Donna Freidas: This looks saaaaaad. I can’t wait haha. It’s about a girl who loses her mom but her mom leaves a “survival kit” for life for her.

Have you read any of the books on my list for May? What books are YOU planning to read in May?
