My Bookish Calendar For February & March

Oh you guys! I AM SO STINKING EXCITED!! If you are anywhere close to the Philadelphia area you probably need to check out these events — 2 of which are taking place on the weekend so that means ROAD TRIPS ARE ENCOURAGED!!

February 18 & 19:
Breathless Reads Tour with Beth Revis, Andrea Cremer, Jessica Spotswood and Marie Lu

Thanks to the lovely people at Penguin Teen, we have TWO stops within 45 minutes of me. One is in my town at Doylestown Bookshop (the 19th) and the other one on the Saturday, the 18th, is at an indie bookstore in Collegeville, PA that I’ve never been to but is only 45 minutes away from me! I will for sure be attention both!! If you are anywhere near the area, you should really come! If not, check out the Breathless Reads Facebook page to see if the tour is coming to a city near you!

February 24th (Friday)
Lauren DeStefano Fever Book Release Party – Tour Stop At Doylestown Bookshop

I literally spit my drink out when I saw my local indie tweet this. If you’ve read my review of Wither or my review of Fever…you will know I adore this series AND I adore Lauren DeStefano. I’m so excited to finally meet her!!

March 14 (Wednesday) –Oxford Valley Barnes and Noble – Fairless Hills, PA
Ally Carter & Rachel Hawkins book signing

I haven’t read either of their books but have Ally Carter’s books on my shelf AND I saw Rachel Hawkins at another event and vowed to get her books since I found her to be hilarious and entertaining! I’ve still got a few months to rectify this!

March 29 (Thursday) – Princeton, NJ Barnes & Noble
Lissa Price Starters Tour

This is one debut I’m really excited about that’s coming out in March 2012 from Random House. It’s dystopian and it sounds so intriguing. Excited to meet Lissa and super excited to read this book!

What book events are you going to in the upcoming months??!  What book events have you BEEN to in the past few months?

My Bookish Calendar For October & November

I feel like I haven’t been to very many bookish events in a while aside from the Brooklyn Book Fest which was awesomesauce so I’m really excited about these events coming up. So, if you feel like hitting up the Philadelphia burbs for some book signings around the Philadelphia area…let me know! I’ll more than likely be going to all of these unless circumstances prevent it.

October 13 – AS King book signing in West Chester, PA: She’ll be signing for Everybody Sees The Ants which I’ve been wanting to read!

October 25: Lauren Oliver book signing in Haverford, PA: I’ve met Lauren before at the Brooklyn Book Festival last year but I’m even more excited to get to talk to her perhaps a little more. I’ve been planning on reading the ARC I got of it at BEA real soon and now I have a reason to do it even sooner! AND it is 10 days after my birthday!

November 1: Amy Garvey book signing in West Chester, PA: I’m going to get real familiar with Chester County Books and Music Company since they are having so many good events! At Harper breakfast at BEA, the publicists were raving about this book so I’m excited to read it..especially because it is a STANDALONE. Holllerrr.

November 7: Sara Shephard book signing in West Chester, PA: I’ve already been able to meet Sara (WHO IS AWESOME!) but I’m really excited to get a copy of her adult novel signed.

And the last one is on November 9th also at Chester County Books. It’s for Beth Kephart (You Are My Only) but I only see it posted on her site and not the site of the venue so I’m still checking into this one.

What are some events you are attending in October/November??

March 26th: Jennifer Murgia’s Book Release for Lemniscate at Borders Express in the Exton Mall. I really enjoyed Angel Star so I cannot wait to get my hands on this one and I’m so excited to see Jennifer again!

Are any of you planning on going to any of these? If you aren’t local, tell me what YOUR bookish calendar look like?

My Bookish Calendar: December

October and November proved to be good months for me despite the fact I couldn’t go to the Nicole Krauss signing. She is one of my favorite authors so naturally I was BUMMED!  I did, however, get to meet:

Laurie Halse Anderson – event recap and awesome video
David Levithan & Rachel Cohn — event recap
AND tomorrow I’m going to see Jennifer Donnelly!

I don’t have anything else bookish planned for the rest of November aside from the fact that I will be getting to meet up with one of my best blogging buddies–Melanie!!

So, what bookish shenanigans are planned for December?

Please Ignore Vera DietzDecember 4 — A.S. King signing in Farley’s Bookstore in New Hope, PA: I’m really excited about this one for two reasons aside from the obvious of meeting A.S. King. First, I actually WON this book the other day from Lenore over at Presenting Lenore so that means that I will be picking up another copy…for you all! Be on the lookout for a formal giveaway announcement for one lucky winner to get a signed copy of Please Ignore Vera Dietz. Secondly, I’m excited because I’ve never been to this bookstore and it’s only about 10ish minutes away from me so I’m excited to find a new and awesome bookstore.

Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy, Book 6)
December 8 – Richelle Mead at the Mercer Museum in Doylestown: I’ve never read any of her books but it’s two seconds away from my house and some other bloggers told me I should I will! Also, my sister’s boyfriend has a tween daughter who likes this author so I’m kinda going for that reason because I know she would love to go AND I have a certain blogger friend that asked nicely to get some stuff signed for of course I’d do that! 🙂

My Bookish Calendar: October & November

New Feature Alert: My Bookish Calendar!

I’ve been so lucky in the past few months since I started blogging to attend some incredible events– PAYA, Brooklyn Book Festival and the National Book Festival. I decided that every month or so I would lay out bookish events and signings that I plan on going to and hear what you all are going to.

Dash & Lily's Book of DaresOctober 29 —  David Levithan & Rachel Cohn signing at Doylestown Bookshop: Signing event for their new book–Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares! I hope I can get my Nick and Norah book signed!!

Rot & RuinOctober 31 — Jonathan Maberry signing at Barnes and Nobles in Willow Grove,PA — Seems like a fun signing for Halloween! And I’ve been dying to pick up Rot and Ruin since I read Jenn from Jenn’s Bookshelves review. Apparently L.A. Banks and Marie Lamba are going to be there but I haven’t read anything by either and to be honest I don’t know any of their books.

Forge (Seeds of America)November 2– Laurie Halse Anderson signing at Children’s Book World in Haverford, PA: I can’t wait for this event! I’ve been a huge of of Laurie Halse Anderson since I read Speak in high school. I can’t wait to pick up Chains and Forge since I’m so interested in historical fiction and particularly the Revolutionary War. It doesn’t hurt that I live pretty close to Valley Forge National Park so I’m dying to meet her and get these books! She is just someone I respect tremendously so this will be a very exciting day for me!

RevolutionNovember 12 — Jennifer Donnelly signing at Barnes and Nobles in Princeton, NJ: This one is going to be epic! I still need to get my hands on Revolution though. Hopefully Steph Su and I will be meeting up for this one!

What upcoming events are you looking forward to? Have you guys met or seen any of these authors speak?

Don’t know how to find out about events near you? My resources:

Bookish Events blog — This is a side project I’m doing. It is for mostly festivals and conferences but I’ll be adding popular author tours.
Book Tour — I use this site to search upcoming author signings near me.
Goodreads events– I tend to search this every week or so to see what is near me.
Authors websites– I have found a lot of signings but going to the authors websites. Time consuming but sometimes there are signings and events on there that you can’t find on Book Tour or Goodreads events.
