Retail Therapy Is Back!

So a long, long time ago I used to have this feature called Retail Therapy but I let it fall to the wayside like many other features I used to do — which is fine with me because I don’t want to do things I’m not passionate about anymore. So I let it go for a while but lately, as I reevaluate things for this blog in 2014, I’ve decided that I’d like to bring it back and breathe some fresh air into it. Originally it was just for bookish items and there will still be some of that but I’d like to really include anything I want or, after doing my book inspired Halloween costumes post, maybe more things based off of of books — like getting into the style of a character or things I would buy that character etc.

This edition of Retail Therapy comes right smack dab in the middle of snowstorm Hercules. LOL. I still can’t get over the fact that they named a snow storm Hercules. Anyways, I want to pine for things to keep me warm during what seems like it is going to be a KILLER winter in 2014. No seriously it’s supposed to feel like -2 out.

Cold Weather Must Haves

1. KITTEN SLIPPERS from Forever 21: I have 2 pairs of slippers already but I WANT THESE BECAUSE THEY ARE SO CUUUUUTE.
2. Hat from Modcloth: I have a couple of winter hats but I want this one because it is pretty!
3. Mittens from Urban Outfitters: Love the fingerless mittens!
4. Comfy sweater from Urban Outfitters: My most favorite thing is a warm, fuzzy or oversized sweater (or hoodies) in the winter. I WANT.
5. Boots from Charlotte Russe: I got 3 pairs of boots for Christmas but I HAVE AN OBSESSION.
6. Legwarmers from Urban Outfitters: To go with my high boots. DUH. Love legwarmers. Always have.
7. Scarf: I have a ton of scarves but I don’t really have many patterned ones. Love this!

Seriously, I’m dying to shop for cold weather stuff right now because OMG IT IS FRIGID OUT and I seriously have this feeling that 2014 is going to be snowy and cold this winter.

Are you wanting to do any purchasing of these items with me? What are some of your favorite cold weather accessories? Link me to cute things PLEASE so I can blow my Christmas money. THANKS.

Retail Therapy: The Jamie-Is-Trying-To-Push-Her-Bookish-Agenda-All-Over-The-New-Apartment edition

Retail Therapy is a feature here at The Perpetual Page-Turner book blog in which I combine my love for bookish things and shopping. Each time I’ll feature bookish accessories, bookish themed items, bookish goodies or gifts that are perfect for that bookish person in your life.
I’ve been very sporadic with this feature since I started it last August — partly due to not doing a ton of shopping/browsing because I was saving for the wedding and partly feeling like there are too many features like this lately and so maybe it’s not a good use of my time as it may be redundant. But nonetheless, I am a freaking shopoholic so I must share when I find something I love.
Typically I only showcase one thing per post but since I haven’t done it in a while…I’ll share a few that I’ve found while browsing Etsy for things for the apartment!

I found these lovelies when I was on a search for bins to put on this really cute shelving unit we got from Ikea but Will quickly vetoed them (“Don’t you already take up enough of the apartment with book things?” It’s true…I do!) but I thought they were such a cute upcycle to do with books that people are going to discard of because they are beyond repair. You can find them at THIS Etsy shop.

I was looking for cute refrigerator magnets (umm I totes am going to do the Instagram magnets with Stickygram for sure) on Etsy because our apartment is bare since we are newly moved in and I decided that naturally my priority needed to be to decorate the refrigerator with cute magnets. As I was browsing I saw these Harry Potter word magnets and got excited for all you Harry Potter fans out there! You know I’ve promised to rectify my bookish confession about having not read this series but I just HAD to share nonetheless. Maybe one day when I’m a huge HP fan after reading the series (which I better be since all of you have heckled me so much!) Found at THIS Etsy shop!

Lastly, I was looking for something small to go on the wall in our kitchen since, well, our kitchen is small so we don’t have a lot of room and I thought this was just darling! Found HERE at this Etsy shop!

What sort of bookish decorations do you have in your home?? Feel free to point me towards anything!

I am not affiliated with any of these Etsy shop owners nor am I receiving any sort of commission for this post. I simply just want to share all the bookish things I find.

Library Pulls & Cabinets For Your Home – Retail Therapy

Retail Therapy is a feature here at The Perpetual Page-Turner book blog  in which I combine my love for bookish things and shopping. Each time I’ll feature bookish accessories, bookish themed items, bookish goodies or gifts that are perfect for that bookish person in your life.

I’ve been very sporadic with this feature since I started it in August — partly due to laziness and partly feeling like there are too many features like this lately and so maybe it’s not a good use of my time as it may be redundant. But nonetheless, I am a freaking shopoholic so I must share when I find something I love.

I was cruising Anthropologie, who always seems to be good for a random bookish item, and came across this library pull for your drawers.

I’m a sucker for vintage and quirky drawer pulls and hardware and this just brings out my inner interior design bug. What a subtle way to incorporate your love for books into your decor than adding something that reminds you of those library card catalogs. What a cute way to add some bookish style to your home pretty inexpensively and subtly!

I was curious after I saw these library pulls to see if anyone sold cabinets or drawers that looked like vintage card catalogs and what do you know! Lots of people are selling drawers and cabinets that like look like an antique library card catalog. The one I found is from BBC America Shop but you could probably google “library card catalog” and find a slew of them like I did.

What do you think? Would you buy these?

Bookish Purses – Retail Therapy

Last Retail Therapy post was such a daydream post with those bookish tubs and jacuzzi but this one is so something I’m considering buying.

Today I’m featuring these bookish purses from Rebound Designs. They are all mostly made with recycled book covers that were either damaged or going to be thrown away.

I love this lovely Pride & Prejudice purse as a huge fan of the book AND because I am OBSESSED with the color yellow.

Or what about this Dracula book cover purse?

Or an Emma book purse?

I think the only downside, being a member of the “big ass bag brigade” because I need to fit books and my Nook in it, is that this purse looks a little small for what I normally use. BUT I think I may just have to get over that because these are WAY too awesome and stylish and would be such a great conversational piece I’m sure!

Check out her Etsy store for more bookish purses!

If I get one (because you know the funds for such things may be an issue with all the wedding spending), I’ll be sure to let you all know! I may just add it to my Christmas wishlist! What do you think of these?? Are you going to be hinting to your significant others that this purse is the perfect bookish gift for you?

Bookish Tubs..Yeah That’s Right. – Retail Therapy

Retail Therapy is a feature here at The Perpetual Page-Turner in which I mesh my love for all things book-related and shopping. Each time I’ll showcase bookish accessories, bookish themed items,  bookish goodies or gifts that are perfect for that bookish person in your life. From time to time I might throw in something random that I’m really wanting that might not be book- related…because I have a serious shopping habit and my boyfriend won’t support it like I know you all will :P

Most of my Retail Therapy posts have been small things – bookish buttons & pins or bookish postcards. This time I’m about to go big. This is more of an IN MY DREAMS Retail Therapy..because every good shopaholic has those “YEAH RIGHT” kind of items that they lust over. Some might fawn over luxury cars, $1.5 million dollar necklaces or one of those really expensive dogs that looks like a rat…but my friends, I am lusting like mad over these as someone who loves love loves to read in the bathub, on a raft in a pool or in a hot tub. Whether or not you are not a fan of reading in water for fear of accidentally murdering a book…I think you still can appreciate these! But leave the Nooks, Kindles and Ipads for dry land, folks!

Seriously! Seriously? Reading in the bathtub is one of my favorite things EVER. EVER!! I get the water hot, the bubbles overflowing, a glass of wine and a gooood book. This would be amazing to have.

There a lot of things you probably associate hottubs with (I instantly think of 10 Things We Did And Probably Shouldn’t Have) and I bet reading isn’t one of them. However, this is my dream come true. Water that stays hot with a click of a button (unlike in a bathtub), jets that feel like an amazing massage on my back and a situation that demands a daiquiri…ok what situation doesn’t? If this was in my house, I’d have Hot Tub Book Clubs if that idea wasn’t so creepy. ..because yeah..I feel creepy just saying it. BUT REALLY THIS IS AMAZING!!

What do you think? Should I find where these are sold and put them on wedding registry? Think Will would be ok with that? Anybody else like reading in the tub or in a pool??

Bookish Buttons – Retail Therapy (2)

Retail Therapy is a new feature here at The Perpetual Page-Turner book blog in which I combine my love for bookish things and shopping. Each time I’ll feature bookish accessories, bookish themed items,  bookish goodies or gifts that are perfect for that bookish person in your life. From time to time I might throw in something random that I’m really wanting that might not be book- related…because I have a serious shopping habit and my boyfriend won’t support it like I know you all will :P At this point I’m not sure if it will be a weekly thing or a bi-weekly or just a spontaneous thing…we will see. If you want to join me in sharing fabulous bookish goodies…feel free to link me and let me know in the comments so I can check it out!

My first Retail Therapy post featured amazing bookish postcards of Penguin classics.   This week I found some bookish buttons and pins that I thought were cute. I don’t typically have a use for buttons like this but I do find that I love putting them on my beach bag or my bag I take to the library with me.

I found all of these buttons on Cafepress. Check out all there book buttons and pins.

Now isn’t this the truth? A gift for any extreme bookworm or book blogger because we all know this is true… *looks at piles and boxes full of books* WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE DON’T RUN OUT OF BOOK SPACE?!?
Dude. Don’t judge. I wear a bib so to catch drooling.

A great button to give as a gift to all of your bookish friends who love the classics. I am proud to read dead people.

Don’t pretend you aren’t. I KNOW YOU ALL. Pretty much a safe bet as a gift to give to any bookworm. Although…it scares me when some people forget that they are in fact fictional. YOU CANNOT MARRY THEM OR PROCREATE no matter how much you love them…just as an FYI. How I do love my fictional men in literature though.

Have you loved your librarian lately? Get this gift for your librarian because it’s true. And check out all the other librarian buttons. It was hard to pick one.

Great button for Banned Books Week.
I so so so sooo wanted this to be a button but it’s only a magnet. I think Anna from Anna Reads should probably buy these as gifts for all of her book club members.

Retail Therapy (1) – New Feature Right Hurrrr

Retail Therapy is a new feature here at The Perpetual Page-Turner book blog in which I combine my love for bookish things and shopping. This first time around I’m going to showcase something that I found when I was shopping at Anthropologie this past week in Georgetown on my little vacation. This was actually what inspired me to start this feature after thinking about doing it for a few months! I have sooo many bookish goodies to share with you but it made the most sense to start with this one first.

I LOVE sending cute postcards to people so I about had a heart attack when I saw these because I know they’ll be perfect to send to all my bookish friends! They are a collection of 100 different postcards that feature a different title from Penguin’s collection of classic paperbacks. I am love with all things vintage-y and I do love me some classics so I honestly fell in love with these. I took them out of the box when I was there and the stock is very sturdy and not flimsy. I really want to figure out a way to incorporate these into my wedding next summer but we will see!  Some of the ones that I saw when I took them out of the box were Wuthering Heights, The Great Gatsby and Tender is the Night. And not going to lie…I really love the box they come in.

You can buy these bookish postcards at Anthropologie for $25. Be sure to put me on your postcard list if you buy these! :P

*EDIT* Thanks to Chachic from Chachic’s Book Nook I’ve found out that these are cheaper from the Book Depository
