12 Affordable Dresses For Spring Under $50

12 Affordable Dresses For Spring

The past 2 days it has been gloriously nice out here in Philly. I mean, we’re talking 60’s and 70’s in February. It’s kind of a tease but I will take it! Rachel and I were tweeting each other about how this beautiful weather is making us just want to be ALL THE SPRING DRESSES (and at the current moment I had 20 dresses for spring saved in my carts across several retail sites). As much as I love my sweaters and cozy clothes, I’m ready to shed them for some cute spring dresses. Ya know, once I shave my legs properly to be able to put those puppies out there for everyone to see. I’m so ready to bust out all my favorite spring dresses and add some new dresses to my closet in preparation for Spring.

I thought it would be fun to share some of the affordable Spring dresses that I’m currently eyeing and think are SUPER cute. I tend to go for florals, chambrays, lace and pastels when I’m perusing for new Spring dresses. One of my classic Spring looks, because the weather is so up and down, is to pair these kinds of dresses with either my denim jacket or my leather jacket (I love so much a dainty floral with leather) so that’s also what I look for too…something that will pair nicely with that.

Odds & Ends

Happy Sunday! Hope you all had a good week! My last week was pretty rough because so many of my close friends are going through some REALLY hard things and my heart hurts for them. Then I got a call from my dad that my uncle got in a motorcycle accident and lost his leg. My heart just HUUUURTS. Too much.

But I’ve been trying to find some joy in the little moments with my homegirl:

How I Reignited My Love For Journalling

All growing up I always kept your standard blank diary and journal. I loved the blank pages but I always did struggle with what to write so I’d write about my day and various things. Lots of doodles and randomness. It was a free-for-all…which I liked. But lately I’ve been having a hard time and just stare at the blank pages unsure of what to write and not feeling very inspired. I think maybe it’s because blogging has become that sort of outlet for me I just don’t feel excited when I have blank pages in front of me.

So when I was preparing for the new year (this post is still totally relevant any day you feel like you want to make changes and slay some goals) I decided to grab 52 Lists For Happiness and 99 Ideas to try a more guided/interactive journalling experience with prompts and such.

It’s definitely been a game-changer for me — I’m excited about journalling again in a different way. I love the inspiration and the things that I’ve begun to think about. Some of the prompts are fun and some have been integral in thinking about The Big Things in my life. I’ve LOVED it and it’s renewed my journal obsession in a way I haven’t felt in a while.

So now I’m obsessed with guided/interactive type journals with prompts and I thought it might be fun to showcase some of the ones I’m most interested in once I finish this one! So if you feel like you want a private journal-y space again but want some guided help/prompts, this list is for you! There are so many different types with different focuses for where you might be in your life right now.

A Very Villainous Post

This post is brought to you by The Novl who so kindly sent me a copy of The Cruel Prince (out now!) and is partnering with me for this giveaway you’ll find down below!

Ever since I was little I always found myself fascinated by villains of a story — especially Disney villains. I always wanted to be the princess but there was some pull to the villains I couldn’t explain. And as an adult? I am OBSESSED with a good villain or a morally grey character or a villain origin story.  I can’t help it and I don’t know what it says about me but I DO. I’m a HUFFLEPUFF DAMMIT…why am I so into villains??!  But honestly a well written and convincing villain is the best.

I was talking Walking Dead with a friend recently and talked about how I’m so obsessed with Negan (Negan and also Jefferey Dean Morgan lol) and she’s like BUT HE’S SO TERRIBLE??! And I’m just…but there is just something so achingly compelling about him that I can’t get enough of and I WANT to know. And honestly? I think everyone has a little villain in them. I know I do…if I’m being honest.

That’s one of the things that drew me to one of my most anticipated reads for 2018The Cruel Prince by Holly Black. The book is set in a cruel Fae world with bloodthirsty, wicked royal fae and the main character is a mortal, brought to live there after the fae murdered her parents, who starts to tap into a more morally grey side of herself she never knew she had to win a place in the court. I started The Cruel Prince yesterday after Riley went to bed and woo boy I can tell it’s already going to murdery and dark and with the kind of villainy I like and all sorts of moral greyness. I dig it.

I thought it would be fun, in honor of my love for villainy and reading a book that gives me those kind of FEELS, to create a shopping guide for all the people who appreciate and embrace a good villain…and maybe even dabble in their own villainous side once in a while.

So this one’s for you — all my semi evil queens whose souls are cold and hearts are blacker than black. This list is HIGHLY inspired by my favorite Disney villains, fyi.

If We Were Having Coffee

I saw a life coach I love, Ashley, do a post entitled If We Were Having Coffee and I decided to take her lead and do one myself in November 2013 because I loved it and sometimes I feel like we forget that there is a whole life behind the people that write and read blogs. I got such a great response to my initial post so I made it a  reoccurring thing for the past couple of years and do it when I feel so inclined!

Grab your coffee/beverage of your choice and meet me for a chat. Currently I am drinking a beer ( a coffee stout from a local brewery)…while watching the Superbowl.

If we were having coffee….I’d tell you that I’m currently reading The Desire Map by Danielle LaPorte (still finishing it up for my goal for January). I so want to get her beautiful planner now! I’d ask what you are reading.

If we were having coffee.…I’d tell you that my heart is so heavy right now. A person who used to be part of with 10+ years ago in high school and college is dying. Like any day now. They (I’ve known them since before they even started dating) found out that he had an aggressive cancer last year. The wife was due a month before I was and my heart ACHED…for them and just imagining going through that while having this new baby coming in a few months. And things took a turn in January and it’s any day now. I’ve lost touch with them since then and I’m finding it to be a bizarre feeling to be grieving someone who you haven’t talked to in so long but feeling it so strongly because of how important they were.

Odds & Ends

Happy Superbowl Sunday! I’m not really an NFL girl (gimme baseball, college football, soccer, basketball any day) but our Eagles are in it so gotta get behind our home team! It’s been fun watching them to be honest. We shall see how it goes. I’m just excited for the food and then This Is Us is after it and I’m probably going to die because it’s going to be so sad. SO SAD.

I Heart It

A Heart Themed Valentine's Day Gift Guide

I did a bunch of gift guides around Christmas-time and I decided that instead of doing a typical gift guide for Valentine’s Day that I would do a heart-themed gift guide (or a treat yo-self guide) for Valentine’s Day because I just love heart-shaped things and I love being festive. Even way back before I met Will in college I loved Valentine’s Day….I know everyone gets bummed out by it when single but I never did. I always treated myself to my own chocolate and did a face mask in a comfy robe or something. Or a girls night out. Or literally anything besides wallow about being single….there were plenty of other days of the year to do that haha.
