Dear Readers…

As I mentioned in my previous post, I have been taking a week or so off from the blog as I learn how to balance my new job with blogging and reading. During this short bit of time, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking regarding the blog.  No, I’m not shutting it down or anything. However, there are going to be some changes.

Firstly, I’m going to stop being so OCD about it. It’s really ok if I don’t post one day. There is no reason to stress myself about something that is meant to be fun for me.

Secondly, I’ve been thinking about all my other interests in life and how I wish I could blog about all of them. Sadly, I don’t have the time nor the content to maintain a bunch of different blogs. After thinking about this, I’ve realized that I want to start to infuse more of myself into this blog. While this will still primarily remain a book blog, I’ve decided to let myself blog about some of my other interests and happenings in my life once or twice a week. My more personal posts have always been pretty well-received so I’m hoping this will be a good change. So don’t worry, for all of you only here for the books, you’ll still get that and you can skip over the once or twice a week post that has to do with other interests of mine or about random life happenings.

All that being said, I’d like to introduce you to a few interests outside of my bookish interests that you might see me blog about on occasion–because there is so much more to me than the books I read! :)

I like to travel. If I could, I’d travel for a living and write about it. There is nothing, aside from getting new books, that exhilarates me quite as much as traveling does.
I like music. No, I don’t play any instruments and I certainly can’t sing, but this was the only music related picture I had. I have a Tumblr in which I post a “Daily Dose of Aural Excellence” that features songs, new and old, that I like.
I like food — eating it and cooking it! I’ve been trying to learn to be more domestic and my boyfriend appreciates that.

I love fashion — everything about it. I have expensive taste for some reason but don’t have the means to shop that way all the time. I love being more creative and putting together outfits. I loved pretending like I could afford the shopping on Rodeo Drive. I DID buy something. I had to. That receipt is in my scrapbook :)
And mostly importantly, I love my life. I have a wonderful boyfriend and we are planning on getting engaged this year…he is my best friend and we have so much fun together. I have an amazing family. I like living in the moment and having a good time no matter what I’m doing. I’m notorious for being spontaneous and doing ridiculous things that sometimes end up on captured on video– getting cars ridiculously stuck in a blizzard because I want to go buy a sled or buying a slip and slide and pretending my 25 year old body is still 6 years old. I’m disorganized and a world class procrastinator. I also enjoy art, architecture/design, history, trashy tv, sports, photography and HGTV addict. I’m the queen of car dancing and madame of the mixtape.

I won’t lie. I’ve thought about the potential of losing readers by making this change but I’m not really too sure I care too much. I think these changes will just add to my blog. The majority of what will be on this blog will still be about books so it’s not too drastic but I feel I need to be fair and warn my readers about these changes. Please be patient as I begin integrating them. And I have to ask, do you like book blogs that feature other content on occasion?

So readers, I want to know, aside from reading, what are things are you interested in? How do you infuse your personality into your book blog?
