December Most Wanted

Decembermostwanted

I know I always highlight upcoming releases in my Catalog Creepin’ posts but typically those are far off when the catalog just comes out. I wanted to highlight the books I’m excited about/intrigued about that I think you should be looking at, too! I change my categories at random! You can find old Most Wanted posts here.

I honestly don’t have many MUST HAVES for December — which is good for my TBR so I can read some of the other Fall releases I’ve neglected.

A Release I’ve Already Read and It NEEDS To Be On YOUR TBR LIST

13138635

My full review will be posted but you may have seen my pre-review Save the Date thoughts for These Broken Stars. This book was AWESOME and you all need to read it. Can’t wait until I can buy my finished copy! I also had Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner on the blog and learned some of how they write a book together.

A Debut Author Pick

This looks like something I’d like so I hope it lives up to its promises…of amazing. HA HA…I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s said this. It sounds cute and romantic and fun! Definitely picking this up soon!

A Contemporary YA Pick

Roomies by Sara Zarr

I was so bummed I didn’t get this at BEA but then I scored it on Netgalley and I’m planning on reading it this week. I’ve heard excellent things from people I trust and IT IS SET IN COLLEGE. This makes me veryyyyy happy!

An Adult Fiction Pick – Contemporary

Out To Lunch Stacey Ballis

This looks really cute and I’ve never heard of this author before so I always love the possibility of discovering a new to me author that I love! The MC’s best friend dies young and she’s left a last request for her best friend to have financial custody of her husband — a man with crazy business schemes. I can’t tell if it’s going to be a romance or just a friend kind of thing but I’m intrigued!

So guys, which ones have you read? Which ones are you excited for? What are some other December releases you are looking forward to or have read that I don’t have on here? And for the love of puppies, please tell me which ones I should read FIRST?

November Most Wanted

November new book releases YA

I know I always highlight upcoming releases in my Catalog Creepin’ posts but typically those are far off when the catalog just comes out. I wanted to highlight the books I’m excited about/intrigued about that I think you should be looking at, too! I change my categories at random! You can find old Most Wanted posts here.

I honestly don’t have many MUST HAVES for November– which is good for my TBR so I can read some of the other Fall releases I’ve neglected. Also, totally didn’t plan to have a Catalog Creepin’ and a Most Wanted post next to each other — I apologize to your TBR in advance.

A Contemporary Pick

The F-It List by Julie Halpern

This one is probably going to make me cry. I know it. I love all things bucket list related (and faithfully keep one of my own) and this sounds like a great friendship story. Tissues will be at my disposal!
Amazon | Goodreads

A Non-Fiction Pick

17412780

Princesses Behaving Badly sounds like such a fun read. I always have loved interesting non-fiction and this fits the bill! I love reading about badass women!
Amazon | Goodreads

A Sequel

Champion Marie Lu

If you are looking for a really fast-paced, government-twisty dystopian series, check this one out! I’ve really enjoyed it and I can’t wait to get my hands on Champion.

An Adult Fiction Pick – Contemporary

17331511

I really liked this author’s book called Backseat Saints and this one sounds really good. If you love books that take place in the South, I’d definitely check her books out!
Amazon | Goodreads

A Thriller

17520996

I rarely encounter many medical-ish thrillers in YA so I’m intrigued by this one! The MC has had a rare heart condition and has missed out on so much in life that she just aches. Her parents give her three days to prove she can handle school so she takes the plunge and does it but realizes this school is definitely not normal.

So guys, which ones have you read? Which ones are you excited for? What are some other November releases you are looking forward to or have read that I don’t have on here? And for the love of puppies, please tell me which ones I should read FIRST?

October Most Wanted

new books out October 2013I know I always highlight upcoming releases in my Catalog Creepin’ posts but typically those are far off when the catalog just comes out. I wanted to highlight the books I’m excited about/intrigued about that I think you should be looking at, too!

A Contemporary Pick

How To Love by Katie Cotugno

I’ve heard some good things and just received a finished copy of this one so I’m excited to pick it up! I typically don’t pick up teen pregnancy type books but I’ve heard this one does it really well sooo we will see!
Amazon | Goodreads

A Mystery Pick

Picture Me Gone by Meg Rosoff

I’m always looking for a good mystery type read and I hadn’t heard anything when it showed up in my mailbox but it piqued my interest a bit. I have a good feeling!
Amazon | Goodreads

An “I don’t even know what genre but it sounds awesome” pick

9780670786206_ManMadeBoy_JK.inddIt sounds like it is a mix of fantasy and paranormal and has a retelling element to it? I DON’T EVEN KNOW. It showed up, I never heard of it and then I read the summary and I saw “the son of Frankenstein’s monster and the bride” and I was like YES PLEASE. I love a unique premise that is unlike ANYTHING I’ve heard of.

2 Books From Authors I’ve Previously Loved

Reality Boy by AS King

I really loved Please Ignore Vera Dietz by AS King and this one sounds SO good as it tells the story of a boy who was, at 5 years old, thrust into the spotlight of reality tv.
Amazon | Goodreads

Across A Star Swept SeaI am obsessed with For Darkness Shows The Stars and I am SO PUMPED for this one that I almost wept a little when I got it at BEA. It’s a retelling of The Scarlet Pimpernel set in the same world as FDSTS. YEEHAW.

October Releases I’ve Read:
Just One Year by Gayle FormanOh YOU KNOW. Just my favorite author with a new book. No big deal. Check out my review of Just One Year by Gayle Forman.

March’s Most Wanted

March-YA-new-releases

I know I always highlight upcoming releases in my Catalog Creepin’ posts but typically those are far off. I wanted to highlight the releases for the month I’m most excited about (and you know..help me actually remember about them). In my “Most Wanted” posts I’ll highlight a handful I’m excited to and the categories will be at random and different probably every time depending on what I feel like.

A Contemporary Pick

I haven’t really seen much about OCD, The Dude & Me one but I’ve been so intrigued about it every since I received a copy! Sounds different!

Artificial intelligence?? YES PLEASE. I’ve heard that this is a fun and action packed one!
Amazon | Goodreads

A Paranormal Pick

13530566
You all know I’m a very sporadic paranormal reader but this came in the mail and I read the back and I was like “HOLD THE PHONES. A GENIE? DING DING DING I WILL READ THIS” Maybe it’s my love for Aladdin or maybe I’m just excited for something different but HECK YES.
Amazon | Goodreads

A Mystery

13450398

I’m so intrigued by this one. I’ve heard it is kind of intense. When I got the ARC in the mail I kind of those it was like a dystopian or paranormal or something until I read the back and it’s about a girl who gets kidnapped.

March Releases I’ve Read:
10594356Requiem by Lauren Oliver
Going Vintage by Lindsey Leavitt (so cute! Review to come!)
Requiem by Lauren Oliver (The last book in the Delirium series…here’s my review)

So guys, which ones have you read? Which ones are you excited for? What are some other March releases you are looking forward to? And for the love of puppies, please tell me which ones I should read FIRST?

February’s Most Wanted

February 2013 teen releasesI know I always highlight upcoming releases in my Catalog Creepin’ posts but typically those are far off. I wanted to highlight the releases for the month I’m most excited about (and you know..help me actually remember about them).

A Sequel

13104080

You know I loved Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi (right? You did read my review and saw my flaily hands going up?). I had heard people raving about it but I was super rolly eyes because I was having a MOMENT with the influx of SO MUCH DYSTOPIAN LIT. But I finally read it and oh my stars…it was exactly the refreshing type of dystopian story I needed. Check out my review to learn more! So naturally I’m beyond excited to read Unravel Me but I’m also scared…hence it sitting on my nightstand for the past few months waiting for me to pick it up.

A Debut

11988046

A lot of people have been loving this one and it was on all my most anticipated lists so I hope I won’t be disappointed! You know I’m pretty picky about my paranormal so I’ll be outside my comfort zone but I’ve honestly been seeing such good things and for some reason when I received my copy of it and learned more about it..it just seemed SO GOOD and INTERESTING.

A Book From An Author I’ve Read Previously

11178225

It’s no secret I loved Between Shades of Grey by Ruta Sepytus! If you love historical fiction, pick it up! Out of Easy is still historical fiction but rather Europe during WWII, Out of Easy is set during the 1950′s in New Orleans! I’m excited because I’ve heard great things from Tara at Fiction Folio who is huge Ruta fan like I am!

So guys, which ones have you read? Which ones are you excited for? And for the love of puppies, please tell me which ones I should read FIRST?

Top Ten Most Anticipated YA Reads For 2013 (Pretty Much The First Half Only)

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic (hosted over at my other blog The Broke and the Bookish) is all about our most anticipated 2013 releases!

This one KILLED ME.  KILLED. I just kept going…BUT  THIS ONE…BUT THIS ONE TOO..BUT BUT BUT…ALLL OF THE BOOKS. Check out my Catalog Creepin’ posts to see more of my anticipated 2013 book releases (both YA and adult).

1. Thousand Words by Jennifer Brown (Out May 2013): This one looks SO good & relevant giving all the problems teens face with sexting sorts of scandals.  It sounds excellent & I love the promise of some romance and a nice guy!

2. Out Of The Easy by Ruta Sepytus (Out February 2013): You all know my absolutely love for Between Shades Of Grey by Ruta Sepytus so naturally I have been absolutely dying for this one and I cried when it showed up on my doorstep. I love historical fiction and, I know if anybody can deliver for me in 2013, it’s Ruta Sepytus! This one is set in New Orleans in the 1950′s  — SO excited!

3. Golden by Jessi Kirby (Out May 2013): No secret here that I love Jessi Kirby (author of Moonglass & In Honor which I’ve read & reviewed here). Obviously this is on here! I’ll be reading anything she puts out as she is a spectacular voice in the contemporary YA world!

4. Mila 2.0 by Debra Driza (Out March 2013): This looks like a fascinating sci-fi book that I HOPE will make up for a lackluster one I read this year dealing with similar themes! I am hoping and praying to the book gods that this is a really fabulous because I’m building it up so much in my head! Hoping to start this one soon!

5. Pivot Point by Kasie West  (Out February 2013): From the description it seems like a paranormal-y, time travel/sliding doors kind of story so I’m pretty excited. ALSO I saw someone tweet about it and apparently it’s a good KISSING BOOK. Woo! Even better.

6. Invisibility by Andrea Cremer & David  Levithan (Out May 2013): UM YEAH. I am obsessed with David Levithan (did you read my review for Every Day?) and I really enjoyed Nightshade by Andrea Cremer so naturally this is HIGH up on my list because David Levithan has never failed me with any of his collab works!

7. The Lucy Variations by Sara Zarr (Out May 2013): I’m a newfound Sara Zarr fangirl after reading Sweethearts by Sara Zarr & I love books dealing with talented MC’s (especially of the musical variety). This looks EXCELLENT!

8. Isla & The Happily After by (the one & ONLY) Stephanie Perkins (supposedly May 2013): OMG OMG OMG OMG! Hello, I’m Jamie and I’m the self appointed, off the wall Stephanie Perkins fan club Prezzie who will be knocking down the door of my local bookstore when this comes out. Read my reviews of Anna and the French Kiss & Lola and the Boy Next Door and you will see some of the only times I fangirl like an absolute loon. If I made an order to this list, other than what images came up first on my computer, this would be numero UNO.

9. Dead Silence by Kimberly Derting (Book #4 in The Body Finder series — Out April 2013): This series is so addicting if you like supernatural mysteries. The Last Echo (the last book) was the BEST yet so I have high hopes considering where the ending is taking us in this one! WOO!

10. Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi (Out February 2013 — book #2 in series): I just recently read Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi so luckily I didn’t have to wait as long as others who read it long ago! THANK GOD! I’m planning on reading it this month but I’m so NERVOUS and EXCITED and MUST PREPARE MYSELF FOR FEELINGS.

11. Prodigy by Marie Lu (Out January 2013 — book #2 in series): I stinking LOVED Legend by Marie Lu! It’s such a great dystopian book and one that I have recommended countless times for people looking for something fast paced and page-turning but with an interesting society! My teen nephews DEVOURED this one as well. They are going to kill me if I don’t hurry up and read Prodigy and pass it on to them soon!

Books I’ve Already Read (Or Am Currently Reading) That Would Have Made  My Most Anticipated 2013 YA Reads List

The Madman’s Daughter by Megan Shephard (Currently reading this one now! Holla for historical fiction!)
Just One Day by Gayle Forman ( SO AMAZING. I can’t even.   Look out for my review this week! One of my fave books I read this year! ALSO, Just One Year comes out in 2013 too!)
Nobody But Us by Kristin Halbrook (Was interesting & kept my attention for sure. Not my fave but certainly not bad by any means).
Through The Ever Night by Veronica Rossi (book 2 of Under the Never Sky trilogy — OMG! SO GOOD. I was scared of the second book syndrome but ALAS…Veronica Rossi nailed this one!)
Level 2 by Lenore Appelhans (I read this one immediately upon receiving it at the S&S blogger preview party at BEA and it was one of the most unique “after-life” sort of stories I’ve read!)

AHHH I’m already thinking of some majorly awesome books that aren’t on this list but ALAS…this was so hard and I gave it my best! So TELL ME..are any of these on YOUR list? Which books are YOU excited for that aren’t on my list? Any series books that have new books coming out that I may have not picked up the first one??

Catalog Creepin’ – HarperCollins Spring/Summer 2013

Catalog Creepin’ is a feature here at The Perpetual Page-Turner that was inspired by the “Books to Pine For” feature over at Kristi’s blog and really fueled by my obsession with scouring catalogs from my favorite publishers to see what upcoming books I should be adding to my already-ready-to-topple-over To Be Read list. Each Catalog Creepin’ post will spotlight a different catalog from my favorite publishers and their imprints. I won’t be covering all publishers — just my personal favorites whether they be the big honchos or smaller publishing houses.

Firstly, SO many books that sound so interesting and something I’d be in to! Secondly, I’m sensing a theme here for me — lots of parallel world/ending up in a different life type of books. I’m very happy to see some interesting sounding contemps from HarperTeen! I feel like most of what I’d been reading from them was dystopian or science fiction! I didn’t include So Close To You’s sequel This Strange & Familiar Place as I blogged about how excited I am for it already!

Young Adult

Rush by Eve Silver (May 14th 2013)
Let me tell you something…when I was a young girl playing Super Mario Brothers and Donkey Kong, my DREAM was to always be able to jump inside a video game. I don’t know if it’s a video game that the MC goes into but this sounds pretty cool! She’s taken from her life and brought into this game to go on a mission with other teens to save these alien creatures. ALIENS! YES!

The Ward by Jordana Frankel (April 30th 2013)
This sounds like a really awesome apocalyptic-ish novel set in a Manhattan that has beyond flooded. Pollution and sicknesses abound in the Ward –the remaining part of the city — and Ren accepts a mission to find freshwater in hopes of a cure. As with many journeys in crazy worlds such as this, there are road bumps on her journey, encounters with secrets & more! I’m SO excited for this one!

Parallel by Lauren Miller (May 14th 2013)

This sounds awesome! At different points in her life Abby wakes up in a completely different version of her life — a parallel life that she switches in and out of at points whenever her parallel self makes new choices. I feel like I can’t even explain it fully so go read the description!

The End Games by T. Michael Martin (May 7th 2013)
In the catalog it describes this as “John Green meets Stephen King in this original take on the zombie apocalypse.” UM HELL YEAH! I never thought I’d be a zombie fan but totally have just started watching The Walking Dead this past weeks so YAY zombie apocalypse books!

Another Little Piece by Kate Karyus Quinn (July 11th 2013)
This sounds so mysterious and creepy! Annalise has disappeared and then reemerges — but this Annalise has no recollection of her past and realizes she’s trapped in a body that isn’t hers. I’m hoping for a very high creep factor!

You Look Different In Real Life by Jennifer Castle (June 4th 2013)
Looks so interesting! Follows 5 kids who every five years have been the stars of a reality show-esque movie about their lives. Now as teens they will be reunited for another movie but are no longer as close as they once were. I am SO excited for this one!

Wild Awake by Hilary T. Smith (Out May 28th 2013)
This one sounds incredible! 17 year old Kiri’s parents are away for 6 weeks and Kiri has her summer planned out until she receives a mysterious call from a guy who knew her sister and has some of her stuff. This one sounds like it could be one that will wreck you. I’m excited.

Honorable Mentions That I Want To Hear More About: Undercurrent by Paul E. Blackwell (sounds like a page-turner!), The Boyfriend App by Katie Sise (contemporary…looks cute!) & September Girls by Bennett Madison (Mermaids! I’m so wary of mermaids but it sounds so intriguing), Severed Heads, Broken Hearts by Robin Schneider

 Adult Fiction

The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker ( Out April 23rd 2013)
Magical realism that has elements of Jewish and Arab folk mythology mixed with historical fiction in the turn of the century New York — sounds like a magical tale to me!

No covers as of yet (will add them when available!):

The Arrivals by Melissa Marr (Out July 2nd 2013): Most people find themselves with a hangover after a night out at a bar, Chloe wakes up in The Wastelands — a place inhabited with monsters and other creature — where she finds that others have also been pulled from their lives and nobody knows why. This sounds awesome! SO awesome!

The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman (out June 18th 2013): It’s Neil Gaiman!

Turn Around Bright Eyes by Rob Sheffield (June 18th 2013): I LOVED LOVED LOVED Love Is A Mixtape and apparently this picks up where that left off. His memoirs are always so touching and if you are passionate about music — they are a must! Love is a Mixtape just wrecked me as it was the story of his relationship with his wife who passed away way too soon. I am so ready to learn the rest of his story in the aftermath of that.

Any of these on your radar? Any of these sound interesting that you’ve never heard of? Tell me which books you are looking forward to!
