17 Summer Must-Reads

books to read this summer

books to read this summer

Every time we hit mid-August, I panic. It means summer is almost over and I’m just….not okay with that as a person who LIVES for summer and spends most of the other seasons huddled under blankets. Even at 30 years old, I very distinctly see the end of summer as when it’s back to school time (hand raise if you actually miss going back to school. Me!). But HONESTLY…we still have until mid-September before summer is officially over. I feel like by THAT point it’s always FUHREEEZING here (okay full disclosure anything below like 75 is freezing to me) in Pennsylvania but I’ve been trying to remind myself that I have at least a month left of summer to soak in.

This time in August is ALSO that time in which I find myself trying to CRAM in all that summer reading while my pool is still open and the weather is still pleasant enough to sit outside in the sun. So, if you are like me and are trying to squeeeeze every last bit out of Summer that you can…I can help you with the books you absolutely should try to squeeze in before the official end of summer (you know, as if you couldn’t read them any other time).  I mean, suuuure this might be aiming high to think we can get all this summer reading done before the end of summer BUT I’ve never met a reading challenge I didn’t like.

I’ve made of mix of books I’ve already read and think are the absolutes to get to this summer and some that are on MY list of summer reads to finish before the worst day of my life the end of summer. So, don your bikini and a floppy hat (don’t forget that sunscreen!)….we’ve got some summer reading to do, friends!

Whatcha In The Mood For? (With A Special Guest!!)

book recs

It’s that time where I dole out recommendations according to what kind of mood you might be in at random — whether that be an actual mood or a specific type of book. Check out past Whatcha In the Mood For recs!

Hi guys! I looove doing my Whatcha in the Mood For posts and was thinking how fun it would be to invite a guest every once in a while and I thought who would be better for a first guest than my friend Estelle, formerly of one of my FAVORITE BLOGS EVER Rather Be Reading (all the sads!!), who I personally blame for SO many books on my TBR list and so many books I’ve read that have become favorites. She is an A+ book recommendation machine and a great friend.

This was SUPPOSED to be scheduled before I left for vacation but the morning before we left (and when I was planning to come on and schedule it) my Internet decided to not work. OF COURSE.

Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR List

TTTlogo

Top Ten Tuesday, as  always, is hosted at my other blog — The Broke & the Bookish

This week’s topic: Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR List — I’m definitely a person who tries to scatter my reading with older books, upcoming releases and further out releases so I have a mixture of things to read and blog about! As always, with my season TBR lists I only pick books I own because I am desperately trying to read the books on my shelves and this helps me at least try to tackle 10 books on my shelves instead of thinking about ones I don’t have.

(1) How To Say Goodbye In Robot by Natalie Standiford: My dear friend Carla LOVES this book and I’ve been meaning to pick it up but never have. LUCKILY my amazing Secret Santa this year, Nina, put this in my package so it’s a priority this Winter! I MUST.

(2) The Fault In Our Stars by John Green: I know. I know. JG is one of my favorite authors and I’ve yet to read this one. Truth? I’m TERRIFIED of it. TERRIFIED.

(3) Meant To Be by Lauren Morrill: I’m planning on reading this around Valentine’s Day because it seems super cute. Interestingly enough I didn’t realize I picked another Lauren Morrill book on this list until I started putting this together.

(4) The Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson: I love LHA so this is a no brainer for me.
(5) Being Sloane Jacobs by Lauren Morrill: Another Lauren Morrill on the list! This looks super cute and fun and I’m curious how the “trading places” thing will go.

(6) Maybe One Day by Melissa Kantor: I’ve been excited for this book for a long time. PLEASE BOOK GODS LET THIS ROCK MY WORLD.

(7) Split Second by Kasie West: I just finally read Pivot Point and I’m DYING to read the sequel.

(8) Panic by Lauren Oliver: Lauren always seems to hit you hard so I’m expecting big things for this one.

(9) Open Road Summer by Emory Lord: I need to read this in the Winter because it looks so fun and summery…very much NOT like PA in the winter.

(10) Don’t You Forget About Me by Kate Karyus Quinn: YEAH. This moved way up on my list after reading Another Little Piece by this author because I STILLLLL don’t have words for that book. I’m so intrigued! Funny story…I went to take this picture and my Kindle died. Ain’t nobody got time to wait for THAT so I just photoshopped the book cover in. BAM. I love technology.

So tell me…what books are you prioritizing to read this Winter? You will find me with all of these, some hot cocoa or tea and MANY MANY blankets!
