new travelogue No Baggage

No Baggage: A Minimalist Tale of Love & Wandering by Clara Bensen ( Goodreads // Amazon)

Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list:
I LOVE travelogues and used to read tons of them and saw someone on Twitter talking about it (I cannot remember whoooo I am sorry if it was you!).

What It’s About: “Donning a single green dress and a small purse with her toothbrush and credit card, Clara travels through eight countries in three weeks. The Memory Book Lara Avery

The Memory Book By Lara Avery (Amazon // Goodreads)

Publication Date – July 5th 2016

Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list:  It showed up in the mail and totally looks like a me book! I though the author’s first book was okay but I’m really interested in this one!

What It’s About: A teenage girl finds out she has a rare genetic disorder that will take away her memories and her health. So she decides to create a Memory Book to write all the most important things down for her future self  — journal entries, mementos from important things and entries from her family and friends who know her best.

Joshilyn Jackson new book Opposite of Everyone

The Opposite Of Everyone by Joshilyn Jackson ( Goodreads // Amazon)
Publication Date- February 2016

Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list:
I read Joshilyn Jackson’s Backseat Saints when it first came out and really loved it! I have yet to pick up another book from her since (WHY IDK) but when I saw she had a new one that just came out I was like YES MUST CHECK IT OUT.  She writes really good dysfunctional families/relationships with a great Southern setting.

Cloudwish by Fiona Wood

Cloudwish by Fiona Wood (Amazon // Goodreads)

Publication Date – October 2016

Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list:  OH MAN. I looooved Fiona Wood’s Wildlife and I had no idea that she had another one coming out this year here in the US (it’s already out in Australia). I saw the publisher tweet about it and I was like AHKLFHOIHALAH!!! how did I not know!?!?!

What It’s About: From The Novl’s website — “Cloudwish is a coming-of-age story of identity, feminism, immigration, and it stars a girl by the name of Vân Uoc. For Vân Uoc, fantasies fall into two categories: nourishing or pointless. Daydreaming about attending her own art opening? Nourishing. Daydreaming about Billy Gardiner, star of the rowing team who doesn’t even know she’s alive? Pointless. So what happens when Billy actually notices her? And seems to genuinely like her? Staying out of the spotlight just might be impossible. Beyond the drama of high school, Vân Uoc is also dealing with her mother’s PTSD from a traumatic emigration from Vietnam.”

A Curious Beginning Deanna Raybourn

A Curious Beginning by Deanna Raybourne ( Goodreads // Amazon)
Publication Date- September 2015

Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list:
Since becoming obsessed with this tv show I wanted some mystery recs (especially historical mystery recs) and this one was recommended to me and it looked REALLY good when I checked it out.

What It’s About: Set in 1887, Veronica plans to continue her travels and scientific pursuits after burying her aunt but before she can leave England she thwarts a plan intended to abduct her and then spends her time trying to figure out who would be plotting against her with the help of a German baron.

We Are the Ants

We Are the Ants by Shaun David Hutchison (Amazon // Goodreads)

Publication Date – January 2016

Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list:  I got a package in the mail from Riveted Lit (a new book community run by Simon & Schuster but they don’t only focus on their books) and this was in it and looked interesting and a few friends have been raving about it.

What It’s About: It’s about a boy whose family is kind of falling apart but also he’s been abducted by aliens since he was 13 and in the latest abduction they have told him the world is going to end but they’ve given him an opportunity to save the world. He’s got 144 days to make his decision of whether or not to save the world…and himself.

The Smell of Other People's Houses

The Smell of Other People’s Houses by Bonnie Sue Hitchcock ( Goodreads // Amazon)
Publication Date- February 23, 2016

Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list:
It showed up in the mail and the title definitely piqued my interest right away and then I read the summary which looked interesting plus I never see YA set in the 70’s let alone Alaska!

What It’s About:  “In Alaska, 1970, being a teenager here isn’t like being a teenager anywhere else. Ruth has a secret that she can’t hide forever. Dora wonders if she can ever truly escape where she comes from, even when good luck strikes. Alyce is trying to reconcile her desire to dance, with the life she’s always known on her family’s fishing boat. Hank and his brothers decide it’s safer to run away than to stay home—until one of them ends up in terrible danger. Four very different lives are about to become entangled.”
