Top Ten Tuesday, as  always, is hosted at my other blog — The Broke & the Bookish

This week’s topic: Top Ten Sequels I Can’t Wait To Get My Grubby Hands On — so excited for these!

FontTTT1

YA Must Have Sequels

 * Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi: If I only could get ONE of these sequels it would HANDS DOWN be this one. Tahereh Mafi, you are evil and awesome and I love you and I love this series. If you have not read it, please read my review for Shatter Me. If you read Shatter Me and need convincing to move on…read my review of Unravel Me!

* In The End by Demitria Lunetta: I liked In the After a whole lot though the first part was WAY better for me than the second just because of how the story kind of changed a bit BUT now I AM curious where this will go after what we learned. This series (can I call it a series?) is only 2 books so YAY for finishing things in two books because I just want to know.

* The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey: I really enjoyed The 5th Wave and I’m excited to get back into this world and story and see what other twisty stuff he will pull. PROBABLY going to need a reread though.

* The Treatment by Suzanne Young: I am in Edelweiss limbo here with this one and I’m dying. We read The Program for book club as part of a fun book club promo and I loved it and am dying to get my hands on The Treatment after everything that went down in The Program.

* Rhiannon by David Levithan: Sigh, Every Day by David Levithan. I freaking loved this book. I thought it was a standalone but it’s totally not. There is a companion to it told from Rhiannon’s perspective. NEED NEED NEED.

* Champion by Marie Lu: Ok, so this comes out on the day that this here list will be posting BUT as of right now my hands are ITCHING for this book. OH DEAR GOD. I can’t even contain myself at all. Definitely make sure you check out Legend by Marie Lu.

* The Blackcoat Rebellion #2 by Aimee Carter: This is bad. Book 1 (Pawn) isn’t out quite yet and I’m already dying for the sequel. If you like dystopian YA, I would recommend you have this one your list. My review will be published this month so look out for that!

YA-sequels-Anticipated

* Into the Still Blue by Veronica Rossi: This is one of my most anticipated and it showed up here this past week. DYING DYING DYING. I need to finish my other obligations first so I can get to this one. Go read Under the Never Sky — the series just gets progressively better!
* Going Rogue by Robin Benway: I thought Also Known As was SO fun. I have never read a teenage spy novel and this was great! Also Known As completely stands on its own, FYI, so you should still check it out if you don’t want to get into another series.
* Cress by Marissa Meyer: I just get more and more excited about her books. I should have said I wanted to get my grubby hands on book 4 of this. I went to the Fierce reads tour and she totally talked about the baddie she was writing in it and WANT.

So tell me…are we dying together for any of these?? What other ones are you anticipating?

Catalog Creepin’ — Random House & Imprints Fall 2013 Catalog

Catalog Creepin’ is a feature here at The Perpetual Page-Turner that was inspired by the “Books to Pine For” feature over at Kristi’s blog and really fueled by my obsession with scouring catalogs from my favorite publishers to see what upcoming books I should be adding to my already-ready-to-topple-over To Be Read list. Each Catalog Creepin’ post will spotlight a different catalog from my favorite publishers and their imprints. I won’t be covering all publishers — just my personal favorites whether they be the big honchos or smaller publishing houses.

Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan

Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan (August 27th 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

Well, obviously I haven’t met a David Levithan book I haven’t loved. You have read my reviews for Every Day, Dash & Lily, The Lover’s Dictionary and Will Grayson, Will Grayson yes? So naturally I’m anticipating this but it sounds cute — two boys are taking part in a 32 hour kissing marathon to set a Guinness n

The Waking Dark

The Walking Dark by Robin Wasserman (September 10th  2013 – Add To Goodreads)

I’m so excited!! It’s so hard to find a good horror novel in YA and this one sounds SO GOOD. A small town experiences a killing spree — 12 people dead in a matter of hours and five people are the murderers. All of them take their own life except one girl and she can’t explain why she, a seemingly normal girl like the rest of them, murdered people. I can’t wait to know what is up in this town!! Sounds evil!

Gated by Amy Christine Parker

Gated by Amy Christine Parker (August 27th 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

This one sounds interesting! A girl and her family end up fleeing to this gated community, ruled by someone named Pioneer, sort of thing after 9/11 to escape the evil in the world. They have been told the world is going to end and they must fight all the people who will try to flock there.

Tandem by Anna Jarzab

Tandem by Anna Jarzab (October 8th 2013-  Add to  Goodreads)

I have Anna Jarzab’s other books on my TBR list and I’ve heard wonderful things about her writing and plan to get to them soon! This one is science fiction and has a parallel life element so you know I’m excited because I find that so fascinating!

cc5

Loud Awake and Lost by Adele Griffin (November 12th 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

Ember is in a horrendous car accident, sustaining terrible injuries, and can’t remember a good chunk of her life leading up to that accident but nobody in her life will clue her in as to the details of where she was going or what happened. As she searches for the answers she finds her old self  falling away with the pieces she puts together. Sounds mysterious and so good!

The Midnight Dress by Karen Foxlee

The Midnight Dress by Karen Foxlee (October 8th 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

This one is an Aussie book and I believe it has already released there in this year? It sounds like a good contemporary novel mixed with a bit of a mystery. And this cover is so pretty!!

Premeditated by Josie McQuien

Premeditated by Josin L. McQuein (October 8th, 2013 – Add  To Goodreads)

Josin L. McQuein also wrote Arclight which is coming out next month and I plan to pick up soon! This one sounds SO GOOD. The MC’s cousin slit her wrists and so she reads her diary for any clues as to why she did it. She stumbles upon the answers and decides to go after the boy who made her do it.

Chasing Shadows by Swati Avasthi

ADULT

Ostrich by Matt Greene

Ostrich by Matt Greene (September 24th 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

This one said “for fans of Wonder R.J. Palacio and The Curious Incident of the Dog in Nighttime.” I haven’t read Wonder but I’ve heard amazing things and plan to read it but I LOVED The Curious Incident. I love stories about precocious kids and this sounds GREAT! The MC is 12 and he had brain surgery to stop seizures that he has been having. Everyone around him has been acting strange so he and his friend set out to find out why. Think this will be a good crossover novel!

ccadult3

At The Bottom Of Everything by Ben Dolnick (September 17th 2013 – Add to Goodreads)

Adam and Thomas had always been best friends but after “the incident” Adam ended his friendship with Thomas. Ten years later, without any contact with Thomas, Adam gets a frantic phone call from Thomas’s mom needing his help. I just love stories about friendship and I’m so curious as to what broke their friendship up.

No covers but I want:

-Chasing Chaos: My Decade In and Out of Humanitarian Aid by Jessica Alexander — I love non-fiction and this intrigues me!
- Mother, Mother by Koren Zailckas: This one really sounds intriguing and it’s narrated by members of a family torn apart by one member’s addiction to drugs that land her in the mental ward.

Which ones are you most excited for?? Any other Fall 2013 releases from Random House & their imprints that may have flown off my radar?

Asylum by Madeleine Roux

Asylum by Madeleine Roux (August 27th 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

THIS LOOKS SO CREEPY. Hidden secrets in an old mental asylum?? Plus apparently there are photos and letters integrated into it and, though I haven’t read it but it’s on my TBR list, it’s likened a bit to Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Seems like a good read for people who like creepy mystery types and maybe a little WTFery!

The Burning Sky trilogy by Sherry Thomas

The Burning Sky by Sherry Thomas (September 17th  2013 – Add To Goodreads)

I’m super new to the fantasy genre but this one sounds really good! It says for fans of Kristin Cashore & Cinda Williams Chima who I obviously need to read first now that I’m no longer afraid of fantasy anymore!

Not A Drop To Drink by Mindy McGinnis

Not A Drop To Drink by Mindy McGinnis (September 10th 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

This sounds so good! I LOVE survival type stories. One of my biggest fears in life is that the water runs out and it kind of sounds like that’s the case in this future story. The MC, Lynn, has a pond that she defends and protects — never needing to go to the outside — but signs of outsiders arriving threaten her. I think this one is going to be GREAT!

3:59 by Gretchen McNeil

3:59 by Gretchen McNeil (September 17th 2013-  Add to  Goodreads)

I just have this obsession with parallel world/lives types stories, you guys, so I’m so glad it’s becoming a THING (though let’s be honest…I’ll probs tire of it after a while). This one sounds so good and from reading Ten by Gretchen McNeil I know she does suspense well SO YAY!

The Brokenhearted by Amelia Kahaney

The Brokenhearted by Amelia Kahaney (October 8th 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

All I saw was that the girl lives in a Gotham style Chicago and becomes a superhero/bionic girl. UM YEAH. I added that ish so fast. I also saw a blurb that said The Dark Knight meets Cinder so that sounds interesting!

Hideous Love by Stephanie Hemphill

Hideous Love by Stephanie Hemphill (October 1st 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

I LOVE FRANKENSTEIN. I am so fascinated by the author of Frankenstein — Mary Shelley. Always have been. This is a free-verse novel about her love story that inspired her to write Frankenstein.

Across A Star-Swept Sea by Diana Peterfreund

Across A Star-Swept Sea by Diana Peterfreund (October 15th, 2013 – Add  To Goodreads)

OMG OMG OMG OMG! First of all, this book comes out on my birthday. YES! Secondly, you know much I LOVED For Darkness Shows the Stars by Diana Peterfreund so I am over the moon about this one. It’s set in the same world as FDSTS but different characters and on a different island….and this one is a retelling of The Scarlet Pimpernel. I honestly don’t know what else you could say about this book to make me more excited!!

How To Love by Katie Cotugno (October 1st 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

I’m not going to lie — I’m pretty much always nervous about pregnancy in teen lit but I’m giving this a chance! The MC has a whirlwind, complicated romance with a guy she’s always loved but whom she never thought had ever glanced her way. He mysteriously leaves town and she’s pregnant. Three years later, she’s handling being a mom and then the guy walks back in her life.

We Are Water by Wally Lamb - new Wally Lamb book

We Are Water by Wally Lamb (October 29th 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

I really enjoyed Wally Lamb’s The Hour I First Believed. He writes these amazingly layers stories about family and love and life and this one sounds like it is no exception. The MC has been a mother and wife for 27 years until she drops a bombshell on her family that she has fallen in love with a woman and they plan to be wed. The upcoming marriage brings up a whole host of questions and secrets and truth as everyone is trying to move forward and understand what was going all those years before.

Help for the Haunted by John Searles (September 17th 2013 – Add to Goodreads)

This sounds so good! Sylvie’s parents have an unusual occupation — they help the haunted move into a place of peace. One night they get a call in the middle of the night and they pack little Sylvie up into the car while they go meet someone at a church only to fall asleep and wake up to gunfire and the loss of her parents. The book seems to flip back and forth from that time to the present as Sylvie is a little older and living with her older sister and trying to grapple with this loss and figure out what exactly happened to her parents.

Dead Set by Richard Kadrey (October 29th 2013 – Add to Goodreads)

I’m loving ghost-related novels and this sounds so interesting! Zoe and her mom move to a new city after dad passes away. Things are hard and she finds escape in her dreams — a place where she is able to spend time with her lost brother. Something seems to be lurking in her dreams and threatening she and her brother which leads her to a used record shop where there is a portal to the dead and an offer for her to be able to make contact with her dad..but it comes with a price. Zoe struggles with how far she is willing to go and how much she is willing to give just to see her father.

No Cover & want a little more info about: Early Decision by Lacey Crawford

Which ones are you most excited for?? Any other 2013 releases from HarperCollins & their imprints that may have flown off my radar? ( I realize Divergent #3 comes out…um yeah..I’ll work on reading Divergent. I promise).

Catalog Creepin’ — Simon & Schuster Summer 2013

Catalog Creepin’ is a feature here at The Perpetual Page-Turner that was inspired by the “Books to Pine For” feature over at Kristi’s blog and really fueled by my obsession with scouring catalogs from my favorite publishers to see what upcoming books I should be adding to my already-ready-to-topple-over To Be Read list. Golden by Jessi Kirby (May 14th 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

You all know my love for Jessi Kirby’s previous works — Moonglass & In Honor — and Golden is EASILY one of my most anticipated books for 2013! I’ve already heard amaaaazing things and I am not so patiently awaiting its release. Anything she writes I will read.

13326677

OCD Love Story by Corey Ann Haydu (July 23rd 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

I’ve never really read a book about OCD so I’m interested in that perspective and it sounds like an interesting story about a girl who is obsessed (watches him, has journals full of notes) with a guy who doesn’t know she exists and it seems her obsession spirals out of control.

15805597

The book Of  Broken Hearts by Sarah Ockler (May 21st 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

I loved Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler & this one sounds fabulous! The older sisters of the MC, Jude, have taught her a lot but the most important is to stay away from the Vargas brothers — all of whom will break your heart she learns from her sisters dating past with them. She finds herself having to deal with a Vargas brother when she needs a mechanic but she vows that she won’t fall for his tricks. Until she starts to…

14999965

Linked by Imogen Howson (June 11th 2013-  Add to  Goodreads)

CLEARLY I am obsessed with these types of stories for 2013 but this SERIOUSLY looks so good. The MC starts getting these mysterious bruises and pains accompanied with horrible visions that lead her to find out she has a twin sister whom the government is trying to capture to keep quiet. I’m so excited to see if they are clones or in parallel type worlds or WHAT. I have a feeling this is going to be GOOD!

15802883

How My Summer Went Up In Flames (May 7, 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

I’ve already expressed my excitement for this on my 2013 debuts I’m most excited for post but I have to express it again! ROAD TRIP! And the girl sets her ex boyfriend’s car on fire and gets a restraining order. I would have loved that sort of revenge for some jerkface guys who cared about their cool cars!

16074739

Thorn Abbey by Nancy Ohlin (May 7th 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

A retelling of Rebecca?! Please don’t let  me down! Plus boarding school setting!

16074758

Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas (July 16th, 2013 – Add  To Goodreads)

This sounds intense and like something I definitely heard about on the news! Spring break in Aruba, the MC’s best friend is murdered and she’s stuck in Aruba being accused of brutally murdering her. She tries to figure out who murdered her friend and stumbles upon some shocking revelations and truths.

16074827

A Moment Comes by Jennifer Bradbury (June 25th 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

I love historical fiction but haven’t  really read  much lately and I was really intrigued by this one when I saw it in the catalog! Plus it  is set in India! The description in the catalog is much more intriguing than what is on  Goodreads right  now!

16074995

Over You by Amy Reed (June 25th 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

This one looks like an interesting contemp with some verrryyy interesting  friendship dynamics. It seems like maybe there are some control issues behind the typical “you can only be my bff” type stuff.

ADULT

16130324

Children of the Jacaranda Tree  by Sahar Jeligiani (June 18th 2013 – Add To Goodreads)

I really just love books set in the Middle East — partly because I feel like I know nothing culturally and historically and I like to learn! This one says for fans of The Kite Runner and I remember enjoying that quite a lot so we will see!

16130472

The Why Of Things by Elizabeth Huntley Winthrop (June 25th 2013 – Add to Goodreads)

I’m incredibly confused because the book cover calls this book The Why of Things and the Goodreads I was linked to from the catalog calls this book After The Sun Stood Still. Either way, this book sounds good! A family dealing with the crushing grief and aftermath of their teenage daughter’s suicide goes to their summer home to find themselves in the midst of another tragedy as a young man appears to have driven straight into their quarry and the family finds themselves caught up in the details of this victim’s story.

Which ones are you most excited for?? Any other 2013 releases from Simon & Schuster & their imprints that may have flown off my radar?

Catalog Creepin’ –Hachette Spring/Summer 2013

Catalog Creepin’ is a feature here at The Perpetual Page-Turner that was inspired by the “Books to Pine For” feature over at Kristi’s blog and really fueled by my obsession with scouring catalogs from my favorite publishers to see what upcoming books I should be adding to my already-ready-to-topple-over To Be Read list. I won’t be covering all publishers — just my personal favorites whether they be the big honchos or smaller publishing houses.

YOUNG ADULT

Thousand Words by Jennifer Brown (May 21st 2013)

This book sounds fantastic. The MC takes a pic of herself in the nude for her boyfriend who is going off to college — something she thought would be completely innocent between she and him. When the couple breaks up she finds that the picture has gone viral and her whole world changes when everyone she knows starts to give her the cold shoulder. Until she meets Mack.

The Lucy Variations   by Sara Zarr (May 7th 2013)

I’m a newfound Sara Zarr fan (she writes the BEST contemp stories) AND love stories about talented YA’s. I’m curious to know about the betrayal and death and how Lucy finds herself. I love books dealing with music because music is so important, healing and moving to me.

When You Were Here   by Daisy Whitney (June 2013)

I started bawling reading the summary for this one. Some of you know that my mom was diagnosed with brain cancer when I was in high school and passed away a few years later…her one wish was to see both my sister and I graduate — which she passed 2 weeks after my younger sis did. So naturally I bawled. I have to read this because I find these kinds of stories really resonate with me. PLUS travel involved? If those two things don’t make this a Jamie book..I don’t know what else could!

This Is What Happy Looks Like   by Jennifer E. Smith (April 2nd 2013)
Not going to lie — all I read is Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail. Two of my all time fave movies. Ok but then I did go back and look at the summary and I’m REALLY excited because this sounds like a wonderful romance and I love characters who are kind of opposites — he being an actor and she being a regular gal.

Rules of Summer   by Joanna Philbin (June 4, 2013)
Rory’s aunt is the housekeeper of a wealthy family and Rory stays in the house and befriends Isabel — the wild daughter of the family — and the two become good friends and find themselves in summer romances. Sounds like a book that will end up in my beach bag for sure!

Truth or Dare  by Jacqueline Green (May 14th 2013)
I always loved Truth or Dare as a teen but this Truth or Dare is dark! A game that leads to secrets become unearthed. Sounds kind of Pretty Little Liars-esque…which I LOVE..so YAY!

Icons   by Margaret Stohl  (May 7th, 2013)
I love me a good post-apocalyptic book and this one sounds SO GOOD. I’m curious about what caused everything to shut down and people to die AND why some people survived. Definitely one of my most anticipated apocalyptic type books for 2013!

ADULT

Amity & Sorrow: A Novel   by Peggy Riley (March 28th 2013)

I’m so intrigued by this one. A woman living in a polygamist cult type setting flees with her children until they are in car crash with nowhere to go. They meet a farmer who takes them in and they forge a a new life — with one sister loving her new life and the other who wants to go back. I’m always intrigued by stories having to do with cults and this sounds very excellent.

Beautiful Day: A Novel   by Elin Hilderbrand (June 25th 2013)

Now that I’m done planning my wedding I feel ready to read books about weddings. I was immediately hooked by this summary because, as a daughter who wasn’t able to have her mother at her wedding, I am so intrigued by the idea of the mother leaving a notebook with how her daughter’s wedding should go. Aside from that this sounds like drama-filled beach read with betrayal and scandal and probably pretty touching. Get in my beach bag already!

The Unknowns by Gabriel  Roth (July 2nd 2013)

I love nerd stories! The MC can’t get a girl so he starts a notebook observing girls and researching them in hopes to find ones at his school who might date him. The notebook is found and pretty much you’d guess that it was social suicide. Then the book fast forwards to Eric as he’s older and filthy rich and doesn’t have a girl problem anymore.
