So I’m in the middle of Gated by Amy Christine Parker right now and I pretty much don’t even want to put the book down to write up this post. Crazy how things become SO inconvenient while you are reading? Seriously why do I have to do things like eat or sleep when I’m reading a good book?? However, I’ll break away from it for a second to share with you something awesome!
As Lauren put it, and I think it is perfect, “I like to think of this world as ‘Dystop— JK! You’re just in a cult!’ This is a contemporary thriller that will stress you out in the best possible way.” You can check out the official synopsis here at Goodreads but you should definitely check Gated out if you haven’t already!
I’m excited to reveal the cover for Astray, the sequel to Gated, on the blog today! In addition, the paperback edition of Gated underwent a bit of a makeover and I gotta say it came out looking even more fabulous!

I am so excited to let the world see these covers! I hope you love them every bit as much as I do. It’s not every day that a girl gets to reveal not one amazing new cover, but two! I know that they are quite a departure from GATED’s original one—which by the way was awesomely creepy and made me squeal with joy when I saw it—but I think that when you see GATED’s paperback cover alongside ASTRAY’s cover you’ll understand why the decision was made to change it. The first cover, while stunning, doesn’t give a specific sense of time or genre the way that the new covers do. Moving forward, I think my brilliant Random House book cover team wanted to leave no doubt in any reader’s mind that GATED and ASTRAY are contemporary psychological thrillers. What followed was months of careful thought, discussion, and planning to get just the right feel and mood for each book. I was truly bowled over by how much work went into finding just the right images for both covers. In the end, my editor, Chelsea Eberly, had an epiphany about GATED’s cover concept and it wasn’t long after that that ASTRAY’s cover began to take shape. I am so thrilled with how well they both convey each novel, how sleek and contemporary the font designs feel, and how the girls’ bodies are visible inside the title letters. I also love how neither girl’s face is visible, giving the covers a general sense of unease that I hope people will continue to feel when they open the book and begin to read.

Oh my gosh, how did I have no idea that Gated had a sequel?! Must investigate immediately, because I absolutely loved Gated. And I cracked up at Lauren’s description, that was pretty much my exact reaction to this book!

These covers are AWESOME. I had never heard of these books before, but my attention has definitely been caught! Especially since you are having a hard time putting Gated down!

OK…those new covers are AMAZING! I wasn’t very intrigued by the first cover version of Gated but that second one is so dark and creepy but at the same time SO pretty! Between those covers and you gushing over Gated I just added it to my “to-read” pile! 🙂

I have heard of Gated and I plan to read it soon. I get what Parker means by the original cover not giving off a contemporary psychological thriller feel but the new ones totally do. I need this series more in my life now because of it.

Don’t like them. Not happy that it was changed. I wouldn’t of given the series a secong glance with those covers they are so generic.

So I Love these New covers. Gated was by far the best book i have ever read. This morning I Heard about Astray for the first time and nearly freaked out. Counting down the Days Til August 26.

I love these covers. Especially Gated, I feel like this one fits the book so much better. The first one made me think zombies… I think because it had a similar feel to that one Forest of Hands and Teeth cover. I”m so excited that there is a sequel. I didnt even know until I saw your tweet yesterday!! :0)
