So the topic for today was Top Ten Authors I’d Like To See On A Reality Show BUT we over at The Broke and Bookish, after a lot of feedback about the difficulty of the topic, decided to make it a Freebie Week. SO..since I did THAT topic over on TB&TB I decided to use a Freebie over here and talk to you about characters I’d like to trade places with for 24 hours in the event that a Freaky Friday-esque event should happen to me!
1. Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice: DARCY. Need I say more, friends?
2. Amy from Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour: I’m itching for a road trip with the windows down and the music blaring…and having Roger next to me wouldn’t hurt. I’d prefer for this 24 hours to be during a very adventurous portion of the trip.
3. Anna from Anna and the French Kiss: Yes, please, I want to go run around Paris for 24 hours (ok, more than 24 hours really). But Anna has the ins with St. Clair sooo you know…I wouldn’t deny myself a companion 😛
4. Gloria from Vixen: I love this time period and would love to, for 24 hours, explore the world of the flappers. It’d be a little dangerous with all the gangsters at the club but I think I’d manage for 24 hours. I’d love to just get all dolled up in flapper dresses and dance all night.
5. Ginny from 13 Little Blue Envelopes: I want to go on a crazy adventure where I never know what is going to happen next! Particularly with a cute guy by my side!
6. Any of the kids from the Narnia series: Ever since I was little I dreamed about a secret world in my closet. I want to go to Narnia 
for a day!
7. Bria from Wanderlove: I would love for 24 hours (ok, maybe more…you know me, I want to be a nomadic wanderer lol) to trek around South America with Rowan and Starling.
8. Carmen from Virtuosity: I’ve always wished that I could have at least some semblance of musical talent. I’d love to spend 24 hours (non-mom pressured hours) with her talent and have the opportunity to perform in front of people! I don’t think I could handle that kind of pressure for a lifetime but for 24 hours it would be cool!
9. Aria from Under the Never Sky: Ok, so for most of the novel I would NOT want to be her (well, besides during some parts when she is with Perry!) but I’d love to live in her world for 24 hours because the realms sound FASCINATING. One moment you could be in the past and the next you could be at a concert in the present. I’d love to live in a crazy virtual reality for 24 hours and then get myself back to reality!
10. Laura from Little House on the Prairie: I’m going to let you in on a dorky Jamie secret. When I was little I was obsessed with these books and, rather than playing normal things like House or School as a kid, I would try to beg my sister to play Little House on the Prairie with me. For whatever reason, I was so enthralled with life on the prairie so I’d like to give childhood Jamie 24 hours on the prairie with Ma and Pa!

This is a fantastic list! Always, always on the search for a Mr. Darcy so I would switch with Elizabeth in less than a heartbeat. Totally agree on Amy, Bria and Ginny just so we could have all those fantastic adventures in fun places (with cute boys, no less!). And YES to Aria, the entire time I was reading Under the Never Sky I kept wishing I could have access to the realms – fascinating is the perfect word to how I imagine it.

Ha! Well, I’m so much of a dork that I nmaed my daughter Laura! To be fair, it was also my great grandmother’s name, but I’m not sure I would have felt so warm and fuzzy about it if not for the Little House connection!

I LOVE your story about wanting to play Little House on the Prairie when you were little. I remember driving my sister crazy because I always wanted to play Phantom of the Opera Barbies when we were little and wouldn’t play anything else (I was obsessed with the musical and had read the little kiddie adaptation of the novel).

Some of these sound interesting. I like the idea of switching for 24 hours–I don’t know that I would like to live in any of these permanently, but it would be cool to experience them for a day. UNDER THE NEVER SKY is on my TBR list, so I appreciated this little hint of what I’ve got to look forward to. 🙂

I, too, wanted to be Laura and would convince (nay, DEMAND) my siblings play LHOTP with me almost every, single day. And, we had a set of grandparents who had a 40 acre farm, with few trees, animals, and even an old fashioned buggy and wagon! Oh the days! I also lived near where Pa & Ma eventually settled down for the remainder of their life and where Laura lived for awhile.

I love these freebie Top Ten Tuesdays! Everyone’s getting so creative. I love it! Your list is marvelous. I heartily agree with Elizabeth (Yes, PLEASE!), Anna, the Pevensies, Carmen (I haven’t actually read it yet, though it’s sitting in my library stack at this very moment, but I have always wished to play an instrument – particularly, the violin – super well. I used to be obsessed with the movie Little Secrets for that very reason), and Laura. I totally played Little House as a child! You are not alone in this. 🙂

Ahh anytime someone mentions P&P, I get the urge to watch the 2005 version! PARFAIT. I’m with you on 2 & 3. When I was reading Anna, from the very first page, I was like she’s so lucky! She gets to traipse throughout Paris!! St. Clair helped too, haha. I really wish I had a musical talent too but I’m hopeless in that department. That’s why it’s fun to sometimes live vicariously through others! Love your list, Jamie. 🙂

DARCY. Gracious. Every time I read your blog I love you more. Amy, Anna, Bria, Narnia…. AND LITTLE HOUSE. Can we just exchange friendship bracelets now?! Little House was the bomb. In third grade, my whole class had to come to school dressed as a Little House character. BEST DAY EVER.

I would so love to be Amy. Sitting next to a cute guy, listening to an awesome playlist, and traveling across the country doing whatever we pleased? Umm, yeah, that sounds freaking fantastic!
I was so jealous of Ginny when I read 13 Little Blue Envelopes. Nothing exciting like that ever happens to me! Though the adventure would have been a little frightening, it would make the absolute best story to tell for the rest of my life.
Yeah. Can I just say that I’ve been trying to crawl through closets for years? 😛

I’ll let you in on a secret as well… I was absolutely IN LOVE with the Little House series. I always wanted to be a part of that family, even when they were still in the Big Woods. I still reread the series sometimes (I have just about everything) and I still love it as much as I did then.
Also, I had a fascination with the American Girls, especially Samantha, who was my favorite. I would probably want to be her for a while, simply because it would have been pretty cool growing up in the Victorian era.
I would also want to be Hermione from Harry Potter, because she’s one of my favorite characters in the whole entire universe.
I do love your picks of Amy, Anna & Bria though – I’d definitely want to trade with them, even if it was just for 24 hours. And Elizabeth Bennet is definitely worthy of being the number one choice!

Great choices! I thought about adding Carmen to my list as well for the very same reason. I wish I was more musically inclined. I haven’t read Vixen yet, but I do love that time period.
