Oh snap…PLL Has Done It Again..A GREAT Giveaway!!

Paper Lantern Lit has done it again! They were generous enough to want to team up with me for an AWESOME giveaway of a SIGNED copy of Kate Ellison’s debut literary thriller — The Butterfly Clues— published by EgmontUSA!

Blurb: Penelope (Lo) Marin has always loved to collect beautiful things. Her dad’s consulting job means she’s grown up moving from one rundown city to the next, and she’s learned to cope by collecting (sometimes even stealing) quirky trinkets and souvenirs in each new place–possessions that allow her to feel at least some semblance of home. But in the year since her brother Oren’s death, Lo’s hoarding has blossomed into a full-blown, potentially dangerous obsession. She discovers a beautiful, antique butterfly pendant during a routine scour at a weekend flea market, and recognizes it as having been stolen from the home of a recently murdered girl known only as “Sapphire”–a girl just a few years older than Lo. As usual when Lo begins to obsess over something, she can’t get the murder out of her mind. As she attempts to piece together the mysterious “butterfly clues,” with the unlikely help of a street artist named Flynt, Lo quickly finds herself caught up in a seedy, violent underworld much closer to home than she ever imagined–a world, she’ll ultimately discover, that could hold the key to her brother’s tragic death.”

About Jamie

Jamie is a 32 year old married lady (with a new baby!!) who is in denial that she's actually that old to be a married lady and a mom. When she's not reading you can find her doing Pilates followed by eating ice cream, belting out Hamilton (loud and offkey) and having adventures with her husband, daughter and rescue dog.

  1. Brookelynn Condry says:

Sounds like this would be a great read!

  2. I have not collected anything weird or creepy…My daughters do collect spoons=)

  3. Jasmine Rose says:

I collect snowglobes. I'd love to be more interesting than that, but it's just not the case 😛

  4. Jessie Marie says:

Sounds creepy and woah cover love!

I haven't ever had any collections. My grandma tried to get me to get into coin collecting but I was never interested. My boyfriend and his grandmother collect stamps. They have LITERALLY millions of them. I never have to buy them again. : )

Probably the creepiest one, though, is my grandma who was big into collecting things, ergo trying to get me to collect coins. She had a room in her house completely devoted to those little troll dolls. You'd be surprised how downright terrifying that is to a seven year old who accidentally stumbles into a room full of little trolls all staring at her! When she passed, I inherited that collection, go figure.

  5. I've never collected anything…well anything except books, but i have one friend who, as a "junior entomologist", collects bug specimens.

  6. Cozy in Texas says:

Nothing creepy I'm afraid. I did collect rocks and minerals from various places when we were on vacation.

  7. Kyle (A Reader's Pensieve) says:

Let's see…my stepmom collects shotglasses from places she has visited (for display!) and I used to collect business cards as a child because I was nerdy like that. Nothing too interesting, I'm afraid.

That said, this book sounds really creepily interesting.

  8. Lori M. Lee says:

My brother used to collect bugs. It was quite gruesome to my young mind. But now he collects anime/game figurines, which is infinitely better lol.

  9. Tanya Patrice says:

I can't think of anything weird that people I know have collected – I collect postcards from states & countries that I've visited.

  10. readingdate says:

This book does look intriguing, and the main character sounds like a fresh voice in YA.
I think the only thing we collect in our household is media including books of course, dvd's and vinyl records. So, the vinyl is the most unusual I guess!

  11. I collected Beanie babies in my younger years…lol. Now i guess I could say I collect books, which is not too interesting.

  12. Jacqueline says:

My boyfriend collects Pez dispensers. He has drawers full of 'em. It's pretty hysterical.

Myself, I guess I collect books… and maybe nail polish…

  13. pointy star says:

My friend's cousin used to collect Lego's action figures. He had a whole bookcase dedicated to them! Then he got tired of them and gave them away…

  14. I've never collected anything weird, just polished rocks (those multi-colored ones) and beanie babies when I was little. My brother used to collect shark teeth when he was about 10 or 11. That's the weirdest thing I can come up with.

  15. Rocks that look like hearts.

  16. I used to collect lots of things, but not so much anymore. This book sounds aaaammmaazzinngg! Thanks for the giveaway!

I will admit that when I was younger I had a rather embarrassing collection of troll dolls. Yes, I have grown out of it and now put my effort towards collecting books 🙂

Oh! I just looked up and saw Jessy used to do the same. Perhaps we should start a group: Troll Addicts Anonymous?

  21. Hushed Paradox says:

My sister and I use to collect buttons. It started with my grandparents' closet in which a bunch of the coats had missiing buttons. We went on a hunt to find them but neber did, but that got us interested in collecting buttons. 🙂

  22. I like to collect stamps.

  23. Emma Baker says:

I interviewed a 7th grader on what his reading interests are, and he told me he likes to collect skulls.

I'm unsure as to what kind.

  24. Jessica M says:

Sounds like a great book! Not totally quirky or weird, but I have a snow globe collection — one from each new place that I visit. It's the one tourist-y thing I always buy myself when I go on a trip.

  25. I'm kind of boring… I collect movie ticket stubs and wedding announcements. My mom collects lighthouses. Oh, I collect Christmas ornaments! I get one for every place I travel to, and any special even that happens. I end up with 5-10 new ones a year. My tree is crammed full every December, but I LOVE it.

  26. besides Bryer horses the only other thing i collect is magnets. Every time my family or i go to a new place i buy a magnet. The requirement is that i have to have been to the place the magnet was bought.

  27. Asheley (@BookwormAsheley) says:

I have a small collection of guitar picks that have been thrown into the audience from concert shows that I've been to. I have a couple of drum sticks, set lists, and an old, dried sunflower also added to that – all of these things have come from the stage from shows. When I go, I try to aim for the front. I've been known to camp out for HOURS for that perfect spot. Not necessarily weird, but certainly fun.

  28. Asheley (@BookwormAsheley) says:

Also, unrelated, Capillya (@thatcovergirl) did a fabulous blog post once about the cover for this book…I liked it and I like her.
