This week’s topic: Top Ten Books You Wouldn’t Mind Santa Leaving Under Your Tree (aka, husband please take note!)
SIDE NOTE: Wooo for our first Christmas together as a married couple!
1. Crewel by Gennifer Albin: I wasn’t really interested in this one until I heard Gennifer talking about it at the Fierce Reads tour!
2. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson: I loved Amy & Roger but I’ve needed to prepare myself emotionally for this one. I’m ready, Santa!
3. Past Perfect by Leila Sales: This is one of those books I feel like all my closest blogging friends have loved & I NEED to read. Plus I’m super intrigued by her newest book coming out in 2013 so I’d like to read this one soon.
4. How To Say Goodbye in Robot by Natalie Standiford: This is one that Carla (of Makeshift Bookmark) has been telling me to read and I just have a feeeeeling I’m going to love it. PLUS I really want to read her newest book (which is a historical fiction) that I found when I creeped the Scholastic 2013 Spring/Summer catalog.
5. A Little Wanting Song by Cath Crowley: I need more Aussie lit in my life and this author seems very loved!
6. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn: I’ve heard people raving about this one this year and I need to know what all the fuss is about!
7. Something Like Normal by Trish Dollar: Ginger, from Greads!, has so much love for this book & really made me want to read it.
8. Night Beach by Kirsty Eager: Aussie lit! But also, I loved her book Raw Blue so I want to read something else by her!
9. Cinder by Marissa Meyer: Ok EVERYONE IN THE WORLD loves this book and I feel like I’m missing out.
10. Shadow & Bone by Leigh Bardugo: I had heard a lot about this book but didn’t really KNOW what it was about but was super interested after listening to her talk about it/getting to talk with her at the Fierce Reads tour!
Have you read any of these? If so, do you think they are Jamie books? Which ones should I beg and plead Santa for above all??

I have second chance summer sitting on my shelf and can’t get myself to read it just yet. I’m still mentally preparing. I also need to add some of those to my list. 🙂

Oh! You have soooo many good ones on your list! I LOVE Past Perfect and Something Like Normal! Shadow and Bone is one of my favs from this year! I’m listening to Gone Girl right now and OMG! The twists and turns are amazing! I hope Santa (a.k.a. your husband) is good to you this year. 🙂

Omg your list is in a Christmas Tree…amazing! Crewel is an amazing dystopian!!! I read and reviewed a few weeks ago after the Fierce Tour 🙂 And Shadow and Bone is epic as well. Fantasy but soooo unique and such a fantastic world! Love love love!

Something Like Normal is absolutely amazing, Jamie! That, Every Day and Jellicoe Road are my three top reads of the year. I suggest you start begging Santa for it and soon! Also, Ginger is always right on the money, especially when it comes to contemporary. Trust her, trust me and trust everyone who loves this book! Out of all these, I’ve read five – Second Chance Summer, Past Perfect, A Little Wanting Song, Something Like Normal, Night Beach – and have really enjoyed them’ I defintiely think you’d enjoy them; they are quite Jamie-ish! Cinder is also high up on my wishlist! Hey, maybe if we both get copies we could do a read-a-long to prepare for the release of Scarelt? Just an idea!

I really didn’t like Crewel, but a bunch of my friends loved it, so…I hope you’re in that latter group. I also wasn’t super enamored of Past Perfect. I wanted more depth from it, but it’s probably fun if you go in wanting something light and silly. Also, it’s WORLDS better than Pilgrims Don’t Wear Pink.
Cinder, Shadow & Bone, Something Like Normal = LOVE. See, I won’t just stop by and judge your choices!

Interesting list! I haven’t read any of them, and I haven’t heard of most of them either. Looks like I might have more books to add to the reading pile.

You have go to get your hands on a copy of Second Chance Summer. It’s really good! I also want to read Night Beach and Raw Blue. I’ve heard good things about both. I hope you enjoy your first Christmas as a married lady. 🙂

Some great picks! A Little Wanting song was really good, did you read her other one Graffiti Moon? That one was *amazing* I need Night Beach too! But I still have yet to read Raw Blue too.

Nice list Jamie! I loved Something Like Normal SO MUCH – it was one of the first books I read when I started reading contemporary earlier this year and I just fell SO HARD in love and I am having a big hissy-fit for Trish Doller’s next book but it isn’t even out yet. SO I WILL WAIT.
Also, I’m currently re-reading Cinder and loving it more this second time than I even did the first time. I know, I know. I can’t believe it either! Because I loved it so much the first time. But everything is just BETTER the second time with this book. I hope you get your hands on a copy this Christmas!

I’m super interested in Past Perfect, Second Chance Summer, and Something Like Normal!
I have Cinder on my shelf but still need to read it. Sigh. I think that may be one of my first books to read in 2013.
Shadow and Bone is so good!! I don’t think you’ll be disappointed! I was a tiny bit let down by Crewel but only slightly. I think I was hoping for a bit more character development and less world-explaning and more of incorporating the explanations as we go along, but I LOVED the concept and the ending was stellar! I’m hoping in the second book since it’s already set up we can just jump right in and I’ll love it even more!

I have bought one of these titles for someone this year — How to Say Goodbye in Robot. It was one of the first books I reviewed on the blog, and I have totally forgotten about it BUT I LOVED IT SO MUCH. Plus, you are right, the author’s new work looks so great. I’m thrilled to hand this off to someone.
I did pick up Second Chance Summer for one of my best friends and she adored it and wanted to know more about Morgan. That made me feel good! 🙂
I hope Santa is listening to you this year. Your Christmas stocking is going to be overflowing with great reads, I’m sure.

Oh my goodness, I loved Crewel and Shadow and Bone! And Something Like Normal was one of my most favorite contemporaries I read all year. I hope you get it and love it!! I also have not read Cinder yet. Because you’re right, everyone else has and loves it! Great list 🙂

Cinder, Something Like Normal & Second Chance Summer were all books that I absolutely loved (and I’m certain that they will be appearing on my end-of-year survey!). I really, really hope Santa brings them to you and that you find them under your tree 😉
Also, I just recently got Shadow & Bone, but have not read it yet. I sense a readalong in the making!

You will love Second Chance Summer, I think it’s right up your alley. And Something Like Normal is SO GOOD! I hope you get them both.
I admit, I liked but didn’t love Shadow and Bone, but maybe you’ll like it better, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

You must do Gone Girl as audio. It is great. I’m in the middle of it right now. Although, I (obviously) didn’t read it physically people rated the audio experience better than the physically reading it. And I have to say it has me hooked! You’re going to love it.

I am here to say that if Cinder and Shadow and Bone belong on that list. They are both wonderful books. I am hoping you are not disappointed. I myself am very curious about Crewel- I have high expectations for that on.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Crewel, Night Beach, or Cinder, but Past Perfect was adorable, A Little Wanting Song was so sweet, and Shadow and Bone was brilliant. I also loved Something Like Normal, so I certainly hope you get many of these fabulous reads this Christmas! 🙂

Great list! Some I loved and some that I haven’t heard of or read yet. I LOVED Second Chance Summer and gobbled it up last summer after Magan @ Rather Be Reading and Hannah @ So Obsessed With kept pumping it up! Although I adored Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour, this book was just even more profound and on a whole different level. Definitely need to be emotionally prepared before delving in!

How fun! I love this survey and I’m totally going to do it, but not until the end of December/first of January. Why? Because I have this silly fantasy that I’m going to be able to read 30-40 more books this year so that I can beat my numbers from last year. I know it’s a pipe dream — that’s not going to stop me from fantasizing, though!
