Catalog Creepin’ is a feature here at The Perpetual Page-Turner that was inspired by the “Books to Pine For” feature over at Kristi’s blog and really fueled by my obsession with scouring catalogs from my favorite publishers to see what upcoming books I should be adding to my already-ready-to-topple-over To Be Read list. Each Catalog Creepin’ post will spotlight a different catalog from my favorite publishers and their imprints. I won’t be covering all publishers — just my personal favorites whether they be the big honchos or smaller publishing houses.

The Summer Prince by Alaya Dawn Johnson  (March 1st 2013)

Futuristic Brazil?? Count me in!! Plus romance & a messed up government? Yep, I’m excited. I think this one looks really cool!

Revenge of the Girl With the Great Personality by Elizabeth Eulberg (March 1st 2013)

I really enjoyed Elizabeth Eulberg’s Take A Bow so I’m really excited that she has a new book out! Sounds cute & fun and who doesn’t love a good makeover story sometimes? I know I sure do!

The Last Academy by Anne Applegate (May 1st 2013)

Firstly..BOARDING SCHOOL SETTING FTW! The blurb I saw describes it as “Curtis Sittenfeld’s PREP meets THE SIXTH SENSE in this spine-tingling, unforgettable debut” which sounds pretttyyy cool!

Since You Asked…   by Maurene Goo (July 2013)
This looks fun! A Korean-American high school girl who gets to write her own column in her school newspaper and she writes all sort of ranty things that her peers love — all because she wrote a ranty piece ripping people to shreds that accidentally gets published (I always fear those sorts of things — emails, texts, etc getting sent to the wrong person or I tweet a DM to everyone.). It also seems like this book deals with her struggling with her family’s traditional Korean values. I love reading books from a different cultural tradition that me and especially with how the younger generations deal with keeping those values in the face of modern American culture.

The Boy on the Bridge   by Natalie Standiford (August 1st, 2013)
I LOVE historical fiction plus books set in other countries so this book is super exciting to me because it is set at the start of the Cold War in Russia!! The MC is an American girl who falls in love with a Russian and has to figure out if he loves her or if he’s just trying to marry her to escape to America. I’ve heard great things (and still have to read) about Natalie Standiford’s book How To Say Goodbye In Robot so I’ll definitely be reading that one while I wait for this one to come out! I AM super stoked for this one. *will update cover when it’s officially on Goodreads *

A Corner of White: Book 1 of The Colors of Madeleine   by Jaclyn Moriarty (April 1st  2013)
This is an author I’ve heard great things about but have never read. This book sounds fantastic and had me at “genre-busting” but I LOVE books like that (a la Every Day by David Levithan). It’s set in two different worlds and seems like an amazing blend of contemporary set in England and some sort of fantasy world.

Disney Hyperion Spring/Summer 2013

  The Rules for Disappearing by Ashley Elston (May 14th 2013)

I love the sounds of this one! A girl whose family is in the Witness Protection Program (something really intrigues me) and who has been a bunch of different people yet has NO idea what her father was involved in to make them have to keep picking up their lives like this. She meets a cute Louisana boy who knows she is hiding something and they realize just how dangerous it might be. SO EXCITED.

Nantucket Blue by Leila Howland (May 7th 2013)

This looks like the perfect summer read filled with tragedy, friendship lost, romance and more! Definitely going to pick this up for my beach bag when it comes out.

The Rules by Stacey Kade (April 23rd  2013)

When I first read the synopsis for this I thought it was a little reminiscent of Roswell (which I loved!). The MC was created in a lab from human and extra-terrestrial DNA. She’s supposed to blend in and make sure the people searching for her, their “project, don’t find her. She’s done just that until an incident at school when she gains the attention of the police chief’s cute son.

Which ones are you most excited for?? Any other 2013 releases from either of these publishers that may have flown off my radar?
