Top Ten Tuesday, as always, is hosted at my other blog — The Broke & the Bookish
This week’s topic: Top Ten Authors I Would Love To Co-Write A Book Together
I could only think of 7 that really jumped to my brain quickly. I’m sure if I would have let my brain go for like 10 more minutes I could have thought of more but my book and ice cream are awaiting me. Plus the dog keeps trying to nudge my hand away from the computer right now — that’s what I get for sitting on the couch while doing this. BUT IF HE SAYS IT IS TIME TO BE DONE IT IS TIME TO BE DONE.
This was so fun to think of and I’m crossing all my fingers and toes that these will happen!! :))
1. Jandy Nelson & Gayle Forman: MY WORLD WOULD EXPLODE. Like I would read it and then promptly die and I might be okay with that. They are two of my most favorite authors and their writing is just gorgeous and they always bring the FEELS hard. So together? If I wasn’t dead after the amazingness I’d have to just find a new hobby because I don’t think I could read after that.
2. Sarah J. Maas & Susan Dennard: I mean, they are doing it with their Starkillers Cycle for free online but I want a sweeping epic fantasy from them. Like a bajillion books.
3. Morgan Matson and Jessi Kirby: These bffs write some of the best contemporary YA books out there and I would LOVE to see them do a book together! They both write settings really great (Jessi with her great beach settings, Morgan with road trip settings and the way she described the Poconos in SCS) so I would LOVE to see them do a YA contemporary romance somewhere abroad where they could have a great setting. See, ladies…I’m giving you an excuse for a bestie vacay…for “research”!!
4. Tahereh Mafi and Ransom Riggs: YES YES wouldn’t it be adorbs for YA’s married darlings to write something dark and atmospheric together?! IT WOULD BE KILLER.
5. Melina Marchetta & Maggie Stiefvater: Maybe an unexpected pairing? IDK. But there is just something so beautiful and haunting behind both of their words and stories that I think they could write something really amazing together. I kind of want it to be a really dark fantasy but also maybe something magical realism?? Or anything.
6. Corey Ann Haydu and Katie Cotugno: Both of these ladies are the queens of writing really complex and messy characters/stories that will provoke so much thought in you. IT WOULD BE EPIC.
7. Courtney Summers and Trish Doller — These two would write an absolute powerhouse of a feminist novel.
So tell me…which authors would YOU love to co-write a book together???

This was such a hard one to do but I feel like you’ve come up with some really good ones. Obvs, I would be interested in reading a Maas/Dennard book that I could hold in my hands. (Please write a book about ladies being friends, you guys, I would like that the most.) But anyway. I find that I’m really into the idea of Jandy Nelson and Gayle Forman writing something together, too, and I would never have thought of that one on my own.

I also had Tahereh and Ransom At first I was thinking.. is this sort of like cheating since they are married lol? They are so hilarious together, though!! I always laugh so hard whenever they do a video together on YouTube.

I honestly don’t think my heart could handle Gaylore Forman and Jandy Nelson writing a book together. I would either drown in my own tears or my heart would actually explode from feeeling too many things, but oh man I WANTS IT.
I almost paired Morgan Matson and Jessi Kirby too. It would be the cutest book ever.
Marchetta and Stiefvater are an excellent pairing and I would like that book immediately.

I agree that Susan and Sarah NEED to write a physical book so I can stare at in on my bookshelf in all its glory! Great list!
Lois @ My Midnight Musing says
I’ve not read Gayle Forman’s books but I hear they pack an emotional punch so I can definitely see the pairing with Jandy Nelson. My emotional stability would take a hit with their book though haha.
Tahereh Mafi & Ransom Riggs was the first pairing I thought of. I mean they are the power couple of YA Literature so naturally I’d love it if they wrote a book together.
I admittedly would have never put Melina Marchetta & Maggie Stiefvater together. However, just think of how atmospheric their collaboration would be. I’m all for this pairing.
Great List 😀
