Happy Sunday! Hope you all had a good week! My week was pretty fantastic which I NEEDED considering how I’ve been struggling the past few weeks. Riley is sleeping almost back to normal so that helps everyone (which I’m probably jinxing by putting that out there), I went to my first book event since having Riley (Gayle Forman and Arvin Ahmadi which was FANTASTIC), the weather was beautiful towards the end of the week and went for Happy Hour at our favorite local brewery’s newly-opened-for-the-season beer garden and yesterday we went to Riley’s fun class, had some lunch outside soaking up the beautiful weather and then Will and I went to game 1 of the Sixer’s playoff game (and they won so woooo) while my sister watched Riley for us.

- I keep meaning to send out my first email for my brand spankin’ new newsletter but have put it on the back burner because THINGS lately but this week I’m planning to send out my first ever email so if you wanna be in the loop….subscribe here!
- I have been getting back on the audiobook train so I took advantage of the Audible deal that you get 2 free audiobooks to try them out! I don’t know if I’ll keep it because I’m not quite getting to THAT many audiobooks right now to justify the monthly price but we shall see. I typically use my library’s Overdrive program for audiobooks but this would be nice to have when they don’t have things (ie like every new YA book I want to read). My two audiobooks I got? The Woman in the Window & Before We Were Yours!
- Speaking of books, I set up a page that I update every day (well, when there are new deals I think are good) so you should bookmark it!
- This list of books based on female scientists looks awesome and I want to read so many of these!
- LOL James Comey is a closet YA fan???
- I told y’all recently I finally got with the times and now have a popsocket for my phone like all the hip people but NOW THAT I SAW THESE HARRY POTTER ONES I REALLY NEED A HUFFLEPUFF ONE!!
- I love this idea of the warm ocean mind. I know EXACTLY what he’s talking about.
- I am guilty of this as a mom. I will admit.
- SO I think I told you guys we are going to Disney with my fam in November. I’m already starting to plan some THINGS because we know I’m going to be super extra about this — making Will and Riley Disneybound with me, getting my mouse ears, getting shirts all made up for the littles, etc. SO my first order of business has been looking for some ears. Here are some of the ones I’m liking right now. I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHERE ALL YOU DISNEY PEOPLE LIKE TO GET YOURS FROM!

Jamie! Your blog looks different. Have you changed it around a bit? Or have I just not been visiting often enough? Anyway, I really do love your blog. It is such a comforting place for me because you don’t just talk about books. It makes me feel a little better about not reading 24/7. Um, excuse me, you Disney bound? I want pictures! I went to Disneyland twice and my anxiety made it really rough on me. I like the place in theory, from a distance, though. I’d love for you to write some more about your tips and tricks to make the best of visiting such a huge place (and with a baby!).
By the way, is Audible normally free? Or, does it cost money? I don’t know if I am any good with audiobooks, and I don’t think my library has an Overdrive. Any tips on how to make the most of audiobook experiences? Like, do you normally not do anything while listening? Or, are there certain things you recommend to do and stuff you kind of think are a no go?
Also: I love those Mickey Ears. Have you seen this girl on YouTube and Instagram? Her username is simply_kenna and she is a Disney fan 100%. She Disney bounds often and just likes cute things. She makes me smile, so I hope you like her content.

I have recently! Last month! Still working on it but have it functional enough for right now haha. And thank you! <3 It's been an interesting transition to go from talking books + other stuff to books + EVEN MORE OTHER STUFF haha.
I've never Disneybounded before but planning to in November when we go!!! Pics will happen for sure. Trying to get Will on board to do it too lol.
No Audible is a monthly thing for a membership where you get 1 credit per month and so you basically pay 14.95 for the audiobook rather than 30 bucks which you can also buy on there if you don't want the membership. You should def check if your library has Overdrive -- I love it! Only downfalls are the long queues for newer books and they don't have EVERYTHING. All based on what your library decides to purchase. I've requested numerous YA books and none of gotten purchased. It's a bit better on the adult fiction side though. Pretty much the only place I audiobook is in the car. I can concentrate enough on both haha. I try not to go for super literary stuff that has sentences that last pages or descriptions that go on forever (because my mind will wander) or really complicated fantasy/sci-fi because I don't want to miss things. I need something engaging and at a good pace. I used to do audibooks on the treadmill when I went to the gym and I liked that a lot!

Hi Jamie, did you redo your blog? It looks very clean and different. I am liking it a lot!
I browsed the STEM ladies post– I read Lab Girl this summer and it was great. The author is a scientist/it’s her memoir, about her time as a research scientist and it reads like a novel. Her writing is absolutely stunning! I also read The Other Einstein (which was…okay). but man do I want to read everything else on the list!!!!
Disney bound! Fun! I have only been 2x– once at 3 years old (I apparently was afraid of Mickey, cried a lot, but I did insist we go on Space Mountain FIVE TIMES.) At 10 it was still fun but I went with my mom who is NOT a rides person…should’ve gone with my dad lol! Hope you guys have a blast!

I haven’t been since I was a kid so I’m excited to do it as an adult! Riley isn’t going to remember it at all but I can’t pass up a trip that my stepdad is taking us on but I will get to see Genevieve and Adela and Brody really enjoy it!

I’ve always wanted to go back to Disney World as an adult so I could wear adorable ears 🙂 Personally, I’m partial to the black ones with the rose gold bow from Etsy although they’re all gorgeous.

I disliked the newborn stage and I still do. Merijn and I together was eh. I don't miss it. I don't miss the me I was then. But I can enjoy the moment now. Now that he is older. Sure some things are harder but seeing his personality and everything he can do, his hugs and smiles, those things are worth it to me. Now we are two peas in a pod without him crying if I leave him at his granddad for the day. So I don't think it is quite as simple as that article states though I understand the sentiment. I think with ppd you can look differently back on those days because it is basically a void.
