TO READ

Ellie and the Harp Maker by Hazel Prior

Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list: The cover really caught my eye and it sounds like a delightful story about friendship and love that you find where you aren’t look for it.

Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Publication Date- July 23, 2019
Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list: It’s a fantasy inspired by Mayan mythology which sounds like nothing I’ve ever read before!
What It’s About: Set in 1920’s Mexico, it’s about a girl, while cleaning the floors of her wealthy grandfather, finds a mysterious box in his home which she opens and accidentally sets free the spirit of the Mayan god of death who requires her help on his journey to take back his throne from his brother.

Wilder Girls by Rory Power
Publication Date: July 9th 2019
Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list: I was chatting with someone at the Random House booth during BEA about this one and it sounded SO up my alley! Boarding school + mysterious illnesses + an island = YEP
What It’s About: It’s about young girls from a boarding school that are under quarantine from a mysterious illness called the Tox which killed all their teachers one by one and then starts killing off other students. When one of the girls goes missing, her girlfriend searches into the dangerous woods beyond the school to find her and learns there is more to everything about their life, their school and the Tox than they ever knew.

How It Feels To Float by Helena Fox
Publication Date: May 2019
Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list: I vaguely remember seeing a really good review about it but haven’t heard much about it otherwise but seems like one I’d like!
What It’s About: It’s about a young girl, whose loss of her father at a young age, has impacted her mental health all these years later — something she tries to hide from everyone else. She sees her dad when she shouldn’t. She has dark feelings she tells nobody. She tries to act perfectly normal and mostly seems to keep that illusion — until what happens on the beach threatens to undo it all.
TO WATCH
Why I Added It To My To Watch Queue: I’ve always been fascinated by this historic tragedy and Will brought up that he wanted to also watch it so STARTING IT TONIGHT!
What It Is About: “Brave men and women act heroically to mitigate catastrophic damage when the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant suffers a nuclear accident on April 26, 1986.”
Why I Added It To My To Watch Queue: Everyone on Twitter is raving about it so I gotta see what it’s all about!
What It Is About: “A dry-witted woman, known only as Fleabag, has no filter as she navigates life and love in London while trying to cope with tragedy. The angry, grief-riddled woman tries to heal while rejecting anyone who tries to help her, but Fleabag continues to keep up her bravado through it all. ”

Why I Added It To My To Watch Queue: Seeing all the love it got during awards seasons + all the clips of it intrigued me!

Chernobyl was brilliant.
I do not know The Favorite but it sounds good so will look for it. Is it on Netflix? Amazon? Hulu? HBO? Showtime? I need a database that tells me where I can watch everything.

Is it planned for just 2 series or did it get cancelled? And we just finished Chernobyl — amazing minus how much I had to see of dog deaths even though I know it was real *sobs forever*
