Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list: I was reading Isla and the Happily Ever After and Isla & Josh were having a conversation about graphic memoirs and I saw an author I liked mentioned and tweeted Stephanie about it and she HIGHLY recommended this one. SO YEAH. Insta-add.

Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list: I FREAKING LOVED OPEN ROAD SUMMER so this was a no brainer. OMG WHY IS 2015 SO FAR AWAY???

Why I Added It To My To-Be-Read list: I just read her most recent book, Brazen, and really enjoyed it so I figured I MUST check this one out.
What It’s About: Set in King Henry VIII’s court, Gilt follows a young girl who is thrust into this world when she joins her best friend Catherine Howard there. She finds romance, secrets and scandalous affairs…all while she watches her best friend rise and fall as Queen.
Why I Added It To My Netflix Queue: After seeing my top 10 favorite movies of all time list, another blogger suggested I take a look at her list of favorite indie movies and this and a couple others were added to my Netflix!
What It Is About: “After staging an unsuccessful suicide to get her boyfriend’s attention, a struggling playwright moves back home to live with her mother, her mother’s boyfriend and a handsome lodger who sings with a Backstreet Boys cover band.”
Love Me If You Dare
Why I Added It To My Netflix Queue: A reader suggested, on my top 10 favorite movies list, that I might like this. Always looking for good French films to watch!
What It Is About: “Ever since they were kids, Sophie (Marion Cotillard) and Julien (Guillaume Canet) have gotten their kicks out of a game where they continuously attempt to one-up the other with a chain of extreme pranks. Why I Added It To My Netflix Queue: I’ve always been fascinated by this time period (and history in general) and I’ve gotten into Reign when that show started, then read Brazen and now I’m like OKAY I need way to get my history fix and this show is supposedly real good!
What It Is About: “All the splendor and scandal of England’s 16th-century royal court comes to life in this series that follows notorious Tudor monarch Henry VIII. The king often lets his passions rule, making for one of the most tumultuous periods of the throne.”
Bleachers – Strange Desires
Why I Added It To My Musical Rotation: I’ve mentioned Bleachers a couple times in my Monthly Rewinds (last month & in February) because I’ve REALLY been digging their singles they’ve been putting out. FINALLY THE FULL ALBUM JUST CAME OUT. I’ve listened to it once and I’m feeling like this is going to be on repeat for a while. (If you didn’t know..Bleachers is the guy from the band FUN’s other project). Favorite songs: I Wanna Get Better, Rollercoaster, Wild Heart, Shadow
Trampled by Turtles –Wild Animals
Why I Added It To My Musical Rotation: I came across the song Are You Behind The Shining Star and became obessed. Was happy to see there was a full album available. From my first listen I’m really digging it!
Bombay Bicycle Club – So Long, See You Tomorrow
Why I Added It To My Musical Rotation: I’ve been a fan of them and have been waiting for the new album!

The Tudors came out when I was deep into my Tudors fiction kick, reading my way through Henry VIII’s wives (using the list on this page: http://literatehousewife.com/2007/08/philippa-gregory-in-chronological-order/). I only made it through 2 seasons though.

I think it started playing with the history too much just for the sake of sensationalism. Which of course it’s a show so that’s to be expected, but there were also a couple of scenes that sort of made my stomach turn (sex or gore). So during the break between seasons I guess I just lost interest. I might try it again though, once you watch let me know if you think its worth finishing.

Blankets is AMAZING! I read it for a YA lit course many years ago and gobbled the whole thing up in a day (and it’s a CHUNKY read!) I’ve read both of his other books too (Habibi and Goodbye Chunky Rice), which are very different but still pretty good. I hope you like it!
Open Road Summer is sitting on my bedside table at the moment, and I think I’m going to take it on holidays with me next month. I’m SO looking forward to it, especially after hearing/reading so much blogger love for the book! Her new one looks even better … hope it’ll be good too!

The Tudors is awesome but keep in mind on TV Henry is sexy, smart and drool worthy… In history he was fit and great eye candy then he got injured at a josting tournament and became fat and got syphilis or Gonorrhea from sleeping around… fun facts! Lol.

Bleachers is FANTASTIC! I have had Strange Desire on repeat since Tuesday and the whole album is just wonderful. They’re also amazing live! 🙂

I read a lot of comics and Blankets is one of those titles that everyone recommends. When I eventually read it, I was a bit underwhelmed, I have to say. I’m still a little bit gutted!

BLEACHERS’ ALBUM IS AMAZING. If you ever get the chance to see them live, DO IT. I saw them a few weeks ago. It was their first full-length performance and it was honestly one of the best shows I’ve seen in my life.

All the Tudor-era stuff is so interesting to me too! I definitely want to read Brazen. One new book I’ve added to my queue is Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins- getting ready for the readalong since I’ve never read these books. A tv show is the Sailor Moon Crystal remake- I loved the original. And music? Not much new, but I started listening to Awolnation and Capital Cities albums that I had, as well as a few Panic! at the Disco ones as well.

I’ve read Tarnish by Katherine Longshore, but I haven’t read Gilt! And Brazen is sitting on my shelf, staring at me. O_O Also, I’m diggin’ Bleachers! I love The Format and fun. so it’s just a natural progression from there.

The Tudors is one of my favorite TV shows. It’s what got me into royal history and one of the reasons I checked out Reign, which I love as well. It’s not completely accurate, but oh the drama!

Great list! interested in the movies you mentioned, especially girl most likely. A song I recently started obsessing over is Chandelier by Sia. The video clip is just amazing (and a bit creepy) and the song is on replay in my head.

I LOVE The Tudors TV show. Jonathan is a very nice man to look at, haha. And Natalie Dormer is also stunning. She made me obsessed with Anne Boleyn 🙂 The first two seasons are the best. I’m still stuck in the third, but I hope to finish the series this summer. I already listened to the albums from First aid kit, but their new one is amazing <3 I absolutely love Stay gold!

Oh Blankets…. I had a bad experience with it. I had an argument with a librarian about it when I was in college- they had it shelved with the little kids picture books and graphic novels and I said it shouldn’t be there that it was too mature. She told me I was censoring. I told her she obviously hadn’t read it or she wouldn’t have it where 6 and 7 year olds were getting their books.
Looks like a good list though! Have you read Outlander? That is my “new to me” book for this month 🙂
