Whew it’s been a while since I did a From My Quote Notebook post and plucked a random quote from my quote notebook. So my goal with this? To share a quote from my quote notebook at random (aka whatever quote I’m FEELING for that day) and hopefully introduce you to some new books as I know sometimes I see a quote from a book and it makes me VERY interested in reading it or at least checking it out!
This time around we have:

Falling Into Place by Amy Zhang Oh guyssss. This book wrecked me. EMOTIONAL CHAOS. I know it was a hard one for some people because pretty much every character seems awful and the storytelling is different but this story, the way it was told and beautiful writing hooked me. I just remember sobbing after I read it. The quote I shared encapsulates a lot of the ~theme~ of the book: people being able to change or not change and all that comes with that — the person you expect yourself to be because of how you’ve been as well as how everyone ELSE sees you because of how you’ve lived vs the person you want to be. You meet characters who have become something that they probably would have never imagined themselves being and you would think it would be simple for them to just change and stop being awful human beings but sometimes you don’t realize how deep you are in and when you do change seems impossible. It was such a beautiful novel that really dissected characters slowly but surely and showed the complexity of people and motives etc.
Anyways, I just loved this quote and it’s always a good reminder for me. My story isn’t over so every day there is the possibility for a multitude of changes and detours and second chances.

This is so beautiful. I tried to keep a quote notebook for a while but would always forget to write the quotes I love down when I’m caught up in a story! Such a wonderful post!! xx

A lot of times I will either just dogear them (I KNOW I AM THE WORST HAHA) or take a picture of them to remind myself to go back so I didn’t have to stop during reading.

I love the quote! The book is still sitting on my TBR list.

It was such a good one for me!!

Love that quote!! I wish I started a quote notebook sooner than I did. I never thought I’d get SO into books– I assumed dog ears were enough. haha One of these days I need to go through all my books and write down what I dog-eared!
Jamie says
I started it in high school but mostly that was for all those random quotes I would find on the internet that were like angsty about love but then I slowly started adding from books or movies and then when I joined Goodreads in 2008 it became pretty much all books or just like inspirational ones. I love doing it though I sometimes I go through phases where I forget and then I’m kicking myself because I KNOW there were such good quotes in however many books I read and didn’t keep track of. BUT dogearring is how I keep track so I don’t have to stop (yay for us dogearrers I still think WE are living life right and not committing a crime) or I will take a picture of it and then go back and add it.

Love this quote!! That book definitely had a lot of quotable lines… even if it wasn’t my fave book ever. Definitely saw the potential though and can’t wait to read her new book coming out this week!!
Jamie says
The writing was just sooo gorgeous in this one. Just lines that hit you hard! I plan on reading her new one soon though I’ve seen even more mixed reviews on that one so I’m a lil nervous considering how much I loved this book!

Great quote. Definitely one to live by. I don’t have a dedicated quote notebook. I try to add quotes to my book reviews on my blog so I have a record but I also write them down in my journal.
Jamie says
I always mean to add quotes to my reviews but always forget lol. I really should because I really love when others do it! I like seeing a glimpse into the text.
