Time for a new From My Quote Notebook post in which I pluck a random quote from my quote notebook. So my goal with this? To share a quote from my quote notebook at random (aka whatever quote I’m FEELING for that day) and hopefully introduce you to some new books as I know sometimes I see a quote from a book and it makes me VERY interested in reading it or at least checking it out!

So this isn’t from an actual book. I ~believe~ it was a quote from a commencement speech she did? I really should keep better track of stuff when I write them down. I have SO many JK Rowling quotes jotted down in my quote notebook. It’s funny considering I’ve just now in the past year read the series for the first time (I’m reading Deathly Hallows soon) but her words have been inspiring me for a lot longer than that!
This quote reminds me so much, in the face of hard and scary things that I might try to resist because I fear failure, that ultimately not doing anything at all can be failure too. Risk is good. Failure is good. It’s not always easy. It’s not always the outcome you want but it sure beats living a life wherein you pick only the easy thing which may never even bring you much at all. Sometimes I get into “too cautious” mode where I want to minimize the risk of failure to the extreme and, sure, I might not fail but I also can stay stagnant and not feel that feeling of your life getting bigger….that feeling of expanse within you.

I completely agree with you on this quote, it’s so very accurate. Too often I avoid doing something altogether because I’m scared of failure of disappointment and doing nothing is far worse an outcome than failing or not doing well at it. It’s not easy being brave and doing new things but it’s normally worth it when you do. Thanks for the quote to remind me of this fact.
Also, side note, how on earth did you manage to avoid the HP books for so long? It’s impressive! I hope you enjoy Deathly Hallows 🙂

I love this quote! I definitely need to keep this in mind, I’m so afraid of failing sometimes. But failing doesn’t have to be that scary, nor is it the worst thing that could ever happen.
