Top Ten Tuesday, as always, is hosted at my other blog — The Broke & the Bookish
This week’s topic: Top Ten Books I Wouldn’t Mind Santa Bringing Me This Christmas!
I decided to go with some books that are out (rather than a wishlist of books not out yet which could be fun!) & that are on my wishlist and I’m wanting to buy!
Every Breath by Ellie Marney: This has been one that everyone has been RAVING about in the second half of this year (or at least that’s when I noticed it). Truthfully I hadn’t even heard a peep about it before and then it just EXPLODED with love. So yeah, Santa…WANT! Sherlock-esque? YES PLS.
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness: I have yet to read Patrick Ness and, from what it seems, his books would so be my jam!
Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta: I’ve loved the Marchetta contemporary I’ve read (Jellicoe Road, Saving Francesca, & The Piper’s Son). Now I’m ready to give her fantasy a shot now that I’m a card carrying member of the fantasy lovers club!
The Catastrophic History of You & Me by Jess Rothenberg: I’ve always been so curious about this one and it’s gotten rave reviews from friends I trust. Plus it’s been on my TBR for a while so if Santa brought it I would have a much higher chance of reading it!
Wait For You by J. Lynn: So interestingly enough I have the NEXT two books of this series but not the first one. So Santa…if you could bring me this one that would be awesome so I could promptly start this series!
Pointe by Brandy Colbert: This 2014 release is one that a lot of people I trust have RAVED about. I really need to get to it!! (Edit: a friend purchased this for me and it came in the mail. WAY TO GO SANTA!)
The Chance You Won’t Return by Annie Cardi: My friend Ginger loves this one and we typically have similar taste with contemporary YA!
Steal the North by Heather Brittain Bergstorm: I had this one on my TBR list on Goodreads and then Estelle said really excellent things about it so NEEEEED.
Forever, Interrupted by Taylor Jenkins Reid: I read and loved After I Do by this author and now I really would like to read her debut novel!
How To Tell Toledo From The Night Sky by Lydia Netzer: I added this one to my TBR because of Estelle and also because Trish Doller, one of my favorite authors, listed it as one of her faves of 2014 and I tend to love books she loves!
So tell me…have you read any of these books? What did you think? Tell me ONE book you REALLY would be delighted to see under your tree (if you celebrate Christmas) or just the #1 book on your wishlist!

Dying that you have FINNIKIN on your list – I have FROI! And we both have POINTE. Book twins forevvvvvva and also yesssss to THE CHANCE YOU WON’T RETURN – that book hurts so good.
Sarah @ What Sarah Read says
Great list! I can’t believe I haven’t read ANY of the titles on your wishlist, although I do OWN Finnikin and The Chance You Won’t Return! Hopefully I can get to those soon. I am loving your bookish Christmas tree as well!
Trina says
I’m not doing a list this week because there was only one book on my Christmas wish list (Outlander) and I just broke down and bought it for myself. I’m being good and letting it stay under the tree til Christmas though.
A Monster Calls, yes yes, a million times yes. One of the most powerful books I read this year and I think you’ll love it. I kind of want to say more, but I don’t even want to influence you one bit. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
Gaby @ Bookish Broads says
Love that tree graphic, love those choices!! Beautiful list, my dear!
Brandyn says
Ditto – Love the tree graphic! Do you mind if I ask – what program do you use for your graphics? I’ve attempted Photoshop and just get overwhelmed.
Bree says
Glad to see Ellie Marney on your list – Every Breath and Every Word are AMAZING and I can’t wait for the third book to come out next year. Finnikin is just as heart-wrenching as Melina’s contemporaries and the world building is really good. She will make you feel things for characters that you didn’t think would be possible. Hope you get a chance to try them both soon.
Nicole The Reading Rebel says
Wait for you is on my list also. I plan to start the series next year. LOVE JLA writing.
Kayla (The Bookish Owl) says
I really want to read Pointe and Finnikin of the Rock. I’ve heard great reviews of both books and they sound fantastic. Also, your Christmas Tree is so cute, awwww!
Great list and Merry Christmas! 🙂

I’ve read A Monster Calls and it absolutely broke my heart. It was stunning and so powerful. I’ve had a copy of Pointe for a while now but I’m yet to get around to it. Hopefully soon. I hope that you enjoy these books when you do get your hands on a copy! Merry Christmas Jamie!
Hollie says
I have A Monster Calls and Wait For You, I still need to read both of them though! I’ve heard The Catastrophic History of You & Me is really good too. Happy Christmas!
Leah says
STEAL THE NORTH. YES. READ IT. LOVE IT.
I pushed it hard on both Estelle AND Cassie! E ended up loving it and C ordered it but hasn’t read it yet (though she just finished another book I pushed so she gets a pass :D)
April @ Between the Pages says
Great list. I haven’t heard of a lot on your list, but I’ll be checking a few out.

I have read the entire Finnikan of the Rock trilogy and LOVED IT so much! I think I read all three in a week or two. Def recommend! How did you get so great at book reviews? Do you have a lit degree? I am such a huge fan of your blog!!!
Lianne @ caffeinatedlife.net says
Great list! I’ve been meaning to check out some Patrick Ness–maybe in 2015? Hope some of these books find their way under your Christmas tree in a few days! 🙂

One of my blogger friends got me A Monster Calls for christmas signed and dedicated! I’m really excited to be getting/reading Wait For You in 2015 even if Santa doesn’t bring it to me – I’ve heard nothing but great things.
Lindsey says
I read How to Tell Toledo from the Night Sky and did not like it at all. I thought it had some interesting pieces but overall was boring and didn’t go anywhere.
Kami says
I love the book tree! How did you do that?
Krista says
Finnikin of the Rock was my first fantasy adventure and i fell in love and have never looked back. I have also reas a monster calls…it was good but i wasn’t necessarily floored by it.
Lydia says
I really, really want to read How to Tell Toledo from the Night Sky!! Rebecca and Jeff of the BookRiot Podcast have been raving about it since it came out. Fingers crossed that Santa brings it for both of us!
Danica Page@Taking it One Page at a Time says
Nearly all of these are on my tbr list as well. But I have read Wait for Me. It’s one of my all-time favorites. You have to get your hands on it asap.
I hope you get a ton of great books for Christmas. Here’s my wishlist.
I still have a $30 giveaway to Amazon going so maybe I can help you get some of these books.

I’ve heard amazing things about A Monster Calls–I really want to read it! And I have Finnikin of the Rock on my TBR pile–I hope to get to it soon in the new year. I am begging Santa for The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater. I already read it but don’t own a copy, and it was my favorite book of 2014 so I simply have to own it. 🙂
Kristilyn (Reading In Winter) says
A Monster Calls is so, so good! One of my favourites! And The Catastrophic History of You and Me is fabulous, too. Hope you get some of the books on your list!
Christie says
Definitely read A Monster Calls – but don’t stop there. Ness’s Chaos Walking Series is brilliant…and so is More Than This.
Renée says
I LOVED Wait for You. Jennifer L. Armentrout is one of my favorite authors!! And I’ve got Finnikin of the Rock, sitting on my bookshelf, just waiting to be read. I’ve never read Marchetta before, so I’m super-excited to see what everyone raves about.
I hope you got the books on your list!

I just want to warn people that I placed an order from Cara on December 28, it was shipped on Jan 10 and now it’s March 15 and I still haven’t received the necklace nor heard from Cara after I’ve sent two emails. Maybe her Etsy shop went under but I’m still disappointed because I loved all the introductions to great Etsy shops Jamie had and I will continue to shop other Etsy stores.
Tammy says
Sorry this showed up on this post. It was supposed to be on December 21st post.
