Linking up with Top Ten Tuesday, hosted over at my other blog The Broke and Bookish, to talk about tv today!
As I wait with bated breath with some of my shows to come back (Poldark, The Walking Dead, How To Get Away With Murder, Grey’s) I’m always scoping out new shows that I might want to add to my Fall lineup — especially after some of my previous Fall shows got cancelled/ended/got pushed back.
Here are the new shows out this Fall that I have my eye on:
1. This Is Us:
I’ve heard that this is going to be good for fans of the show Parenthood (which was one of my faves!!) so I absolutely will be watching.
2. Designated Survivor:
As a fan of 24, I feel like I’m always going to want to watch things Kiefer is in in hopes that it will be Jack Bauer-ish. This looks like it could be interesting considering Kiefer Sutherland plays a secretary of housing and urban development who becomes next in line to be president when a bomb kills everyone at the State of the Union address.
3. The Crown
I’m so excited for this Netflix series! A DRAMA ABOUT QUEEN ELIZABETH II’s!!!!!!! Cannot even contain myself. It’s not out until November but hey that’s still Fall tv! (Sidenote if you want more upcoming royal shows — Victoria is premiering January 2017 on PBS and I’m excited).
4. Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life
I could cry just thinking about this. Gilmore Girls is one of my all time favorite shows ever and I’m stoked for this. I remember in between seasons my college roommate and I would just constantly binge watch all the seasons of this show and be hermits together instead of go hang out with other people. I have such good memories of watching this show with her and I am hoping we can make it work to watch it together. I AM JUST GOING TO SOB THE WHOLE TIME I KNOW IT.
5. Still Star-Crossed
When I first heard about this I was like “OMG! But this could be awful” and then I realized it’s part of Shondaland and I’m like OKAY WHEW WE SHALL BE ALRIGHT. It takes place in the aftermath of Romeo and Juliet’s death and looks great.
6. Conviction
I love legal dramas so I will definitely be checking this one out — a young attorney and daughter of a former US president is blackmailed to lead the new Conviction Integrity Unit and looks into people who may have been wrongly convicted of a crime.
7. Frequency
The trailer makes this look soooo good — time travel and mystery and murder!
8. Westworld
This sci-fi thriller tells the story of a futuristic theme park called Westworld! Apparently this is going to be the next big HBO show and it does look pretty cool!!
9. No Tomorrow
This looks really cute and fun — more lighthearted than my typical fare.
10. Luke Cage
I loved getting to know Luke Cage in Jessica Jones so Netflix has me 10000% into this new series!
11. The Good Girls Revolt
Yas girl power & ladies fighting the man! Thank goodness I have Amazon Prime because I am all about the newsroom setting in 1969 + woman demanding fairness in the workplace. You can watch the first episode on Amazon Prime and the rest will be aired late October.
12. Queen Sugar
I didn’t realize OWN had original series but I love me a good family drama and this looks so compelling!
So we shall see which ones end up added to my Fall lineup! I have high hopes for many but probably not enough time to watch all of these but these are the ones that have really caught my eye!
So tell me…what new fall 2016 shows are on your radar??
Pin it for later:

Rissi says
YES! So many of these are on my list this week too. Cannot wait – and how did I forget “The Crown”? Looks like a wonderful series (and of course, Gilmore Girls will be epic). This was the first time I watched “No Tomorrow,” and I agree. It looks cute. Fabulous list, Jamie.
Jamie says
Hopefully we have some good fall tv in store for us!!!
Chrissi Reads says
The Crown looks amazing! Totally my sort of show. Thanks for the recommendations.
Jamie says
Right?? I am SO excited!!!
Lindsey @ Lindsey Reads says
Ah so many interesting new shows to check out! Gilmore Girls for sure is my number one! Though Still Star-Crossed and The Crown will be at the top of my to-watch list as well 🙂
Jamie says
SO MANY. I’m getting nervous…like what if they are ALL really good??? I’m screwed bc I don’t have that much time to add 10 new shows lol
Emmah says
I’m looking forward to This Is Us, as well!
I hadn’t heard of The Crown, but I’m definitely going to check out that trailer later 🙂
I’M SO EXCITED FOR THE GILMORE GIRLS REVIVAL, AHH!! I just finished my rewatch of the series and omg. It’s one of my all time favorite shows too, and definitely a comfort one for me.
I’m excited for Conviction! But that mostly has to do with Hayley Atwell playing the lead haha. I’ll basically follow her anywhere! She’s AMAZING (and I’m still sad Agent Carter got canceled)!
SO many are on my radar haha. But I’m going to look into (I think it’s SyFy’s) Incorporated! I love Sean Teale (he played Conde on Reign), so I’m curious to see how he’ll be on this!
Side note: Do you have WhatsApp? If so, we should switch numbers (I don’t have service at my house, or I’d propose we text)!
Jamie says
Hehe I thought of you when I saw Hayley Atwell bc I know you loved Agent Carter!
Will check out Incorporated!
And no I don’t have WhatsApp! 🙁
Catherine says
I hadn’t heard of Still Star-Crossed, but it looks really good. The actress cast as Rosaline is quite stunning.
Westworld was already on my list, and seeing Luke Cage up there reminds me that I need to finish Daredevil and then get to work on Jessica Jones. :/
Jamie says
She really is!!
I still haven’t watched Daredevil yet and really need to! Super loved JJ so I hope you love that!
Lauren says
Conviction and Westworld seem pretty interesting 🙂
Jamie says
I’m hoping they are as good as their premises!!
Jennifer @ YA Book Nerd says
How could I forget Gilmore Girls?
And the Crown looks really good too!
Jamie says
I feel like my brain is still exploding that this GG revival is actually happening!!
Judy Hudgins says
looks like a lot of good knitting time coming up this fall!
Jamie says
Ah I’m taking it that you knit during tv time? I need a hobby like that that I can do while I watch! Sometimes I take that time to go through my email or respond to comments depending on how much the show requires I concentrate but that’s not nearly as fun haha
Andi says
JACK BAUER as President (because lets face it, Kiefer will ALWAYS be Jack Bauer)! I seriously can not wait for that show. That is the only really high priority on my fall TV list.
Jamie says
He really always WILL be Jack Bauer. I don’t think I can even watch the 24 reboot that is happening without him. What’s the point??? BUT Designated Survivor look SO SO GOOD. Can’t wait to chat all about it with you when it premieres!!
Heather Currie says
Didn’t know about Crown, but now I can’t wait for it!!!!!! Also, when is Gilmour Girls coming out! Need it NOW! lol
Jamie says
Right?? It looks AWESOME!! And same…the excitement for new GG is unreal.
Lynn says
Great list! I have to be honest, I wasn’t aware most of these shows were coming out. I’ve been slacking on that part but some really look amazing! Still Star-Crossed looks awesome! Can’t wait!
Jamie says
It really does look awesome!! Hope you found some potential new shows from the list 🙂
giovanna says
I can’t wait to watch This Is Us!! It sounds like it’s going to be a good one! 😀
My Top Ten Tuesday!
Jamie says
It really does!!
La La in the Library says
I loved and adored Parenthood and was so sad when it was cancelled! Thanks for sharing This Is Us. 🙂
Jamie says
SAME. That show really could have lasted more time. HATE that it was cancelled!! Fingers crossed This Is Us fills the void!
Nicole @ Nicole's Novel Reads says
I am super pumped for Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life! I have been marathoning Gilmore Girls to prepare for the revival. Lovely list and now I have to check out some of these new TV shows.
Jamie says
Hope you find some new shows to watch!!
I need to do a re-watch before the revival. TRYING to get Will into the idea of watching for the first time during my rewatch!
Yasmine @ Swissbookworm says
Gilmore Girls, Frequency and No Tomorrow are also on my radar! 🙂
Jamie says
Here’s to hoping they all live up to how awesome they all seem like they will be!!
Jessica says
I thought the same as you about Still Star-Crossed. But Shonda won’t lead us astray. Trust in Shondaland. Is that a mantra? It should be.
Jamie says
TRUST IN SHONDALAND. I endorse this mantra!!!
Jessica @ a GREAT read says
Ooh nice! Some new to me ones here. Seeing a lot of Still Star Crossed! Was this some sort of spinoff from that other show called Star Crossed? Been seeing that one in today’s topic too! Feeling so lost! LOL! Great picks!
Here’s my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Jamie says
I don’t think they are related though I’m not really sure what the other Star Crossed was about! But I do think they are totally different!
Lisa says
I write often on the Royal Family, so I’ll be watching the new show on the Queen. Hope it’s not as awful as the last one was–lol. I haven’t had actual tv in years but DO want to binge watch Gilmore Girls since somehow I totally missed it. The new one sounds worth it. I can get Netflix.
Jamie says
I feel like I’ve had good success with Netflix shows so let’s hope this one isn’t awful!!!
roro says
Gilmore Girls, Luke Gage and Frequency. I loved Gilmore girls growing , i’m ecstatic. Luke Cage is a close second. I’ve been reading the marvel now Luke Cage and Iron Fist run and older runs to get a feel of the character. Frequency is as last but still exited for it. It’s based on movie from 2000 and I’m interested how they’ll handle it .
I can’t wait for the new tv season
Jamie says
I saw that it was based on a movie and was curious if the original movie was good as I never saw it!
And oh man SAME re: loving Gilmore Girls growing up. I have so many great memories of growing up with that show!
Nicole @ Reading Books With Coffee says
Still Star-Crossed sounds really good, and if Shondaland is involved, then I know it’s going to be entertaining and dramatic and fun to watch. Great list!
Jamie says
Shondaland never lets us down!!
Crini says
So excited about This is Us!! It’s about time we get another family drama like Parenthood. I really hope it’s good.
Westworld is probably my most anticipated of the bunch. Sounds right up my alley.
And I’m excited about Conviction because of Haley Atwell (even though I’m sad that it meant the end for Agent Carter)
Also have on my list (without expecting too much):
Man With a Plan
Timeless
Lethal Weapon
Van Helsing
Jamie says
SAME. I miss Parenthood so much. Such a shame it was cancelled…I feel like it had plenty more good seasons left in it. The ending was great though if it had to end. SIGH.
Must check out all the others on your list! The only one I really had on my radar was Van Helsing!
kristen says
i am not really one for tv, but This Is Us looks SO good. i tried to get into parenthood, but we only had one tv at the time and KC kept making fun of it when i watched it haha. but this one looks good. i saw a trailer for a funny show with kristen bell in it, can’t remember what it’s called. still star crossed and the crown look SO GOOD. also, gilmore girls, duh.
Serena says
I haven’t even read the book yet but I’m really looking forward to Still Star-Crossed! And I currently have 5.5 seasons of Gilmore Girls to binge on before November!
Deyse @ Bound With Words says
This Is Us is in my Fall list too! I have been hearing amazing things about it, can’t wait to get some time and watch it.
And YES The Crown looks so good, I haven’t heard about Victoria, but now I’m putting on my list too!
I FINALLY binge watched Gilmore Girls this summer (before I’d only watched sparse episodes, since when it was on I wasn’t into tv shows yet) and yes, can’t contain the excitement!!!
OH MY GOD I HADN’T HEARD OF STILL STAR-CROSSED, HOW DID A SHONDALAND SERIES FLEW OUT OF MY RADAR, I’M SCANDALIZED WITH MYSELF RN!
Okay, so many of these went to my Fall line up haha
If I may recommend one that wasn’t in your list and that I just watched the pilot today (and it was amazing) is Speechless, is a family centered sitcom and it’s sooooooooooo good, funny and heartfelt and I’m completely hooked right from the first episode, so yeah, just sayin’ pretty good stuff.
