READATHON!!

Time for Readathon. I have been so psyched for it for a while. And then this week happened and I had some personal issues that I had to take care of and I thought I wouldn’t be able to do this because of a lack of focus and being upset. However, things got better, and here I am!! I’m not sure if I will be doing the whole 24 hours like I planned to just because I might have to tend to some things but hopefully I’ll get to read alot. I’ve also signed up for 3 hours of cheering so I’ll be busy! I’m planning on starting with Catching Fire (as I’ve managed to not finish it yet AND I’m not a morning person and I didn’t get sleep last night so I need something really easy and that I KNOW will keep my attention so I don’t fall back asleep). Then I’ll be reading Never Let Me Go and then hopefully Mockingjay or maybe The Handmaid’s Tale! I’m not setting any goals. Just to do what I can and have fun doing my FIRST EVER Readathon.

HOUR 4:  Little disappointed with my progress going into hour 4! I thought I would have finished Catching Fire but, as always, Twitter and blogs distract me from the task at hand. I think I’m going to go read somewhere else and leave the computer behind.

Hour 6

Heading into hour 6, I have to say I’m pretty disappointed in my performance thus far BUT at least I’m spending time reading. I’ve overcome my Twitter/blog distraction only to stop for a lunch break and then it turns into an hour break of me talking on the phone. I’ve been reading outside because it is BEAUTIFUL outside. Seriously. Gorgeous weather and plenty of sunshine. Exactly what I needed!

Hour 8: Heading into hour 8 and I just finished Catching Fire! I’ve loved reading outside but I did get distracted by my sister and her bf dropping by to get something and THEN there was this HUGE spider in the house and we had to kill it.  Not happy about my progress BUT I’ve got all night. Hopefully next Readathon I won’t have a huge crisis the days leading up to readathon so I can get everything to together and be mentally prepared! Always a learning curve as well!  I’ve read 391 pages so far! Time to go stretch, cheer and figure out what I want to start next! I’m thinking Never Let Me Go but I haven’t decided!

Hour 14: I haven’t updated in forever but I’m still going strong! I literally had to leave my computer in another room for a LONG time. It was getting in the way of actually reading! I also made some dinner because I didn’t have the time pre-readathon to prepare any and I wasn’t feeling the frozen dinner.

Hour 16: You are a BITCH, hour 16! You spawn from Satan! I was all perky and optimistic about my insomniac  tendancies carrying me through the whole 24 hours and now I’ve hit a wall! My eyes want to shut! They are begging me  and promising me really excellent sleep if I just give in…which that, excellent sleep, is something I don’t often get! Tempting.  Come on Mockingjay..pick up the pace!  It  also might help if I SAT UP! lol  Since I last updated, I have gone through my cheer list and read 75 pages of Mockingjay! Let’s hope I don’t give into the sweet nothings that my eyes are whispering to me!

Hour 19: Still going..but barely! My reading has slowed down a little bit. I really should have gotten more than four hours of sleep last night to be able to stay up all night! That and I should have been prepared with some candy and energy drinks! Rookie mistakes! Next time. I’m going to keep reading but I’ve set my alarm in the event I fall asleep…so this will probably  be my last update. I may or may not stay up but the computer is going off either way! I’ll post in the morning if I keep reading.

Hour 23: I conceded and took a little sleep break from 2:30am  EST to  6am and woke up to finish strong until 8. I truly believe that if I would have had a good sleep the night before that I could have stuck it out.  But, such is life. I’m ok with what I finished. It’s more than I would have if I didn’t participate! And I had fun chatting it up with everyone and just doing something TOGETHER as a community! Will definitely be participating again..but with a better game plan! Time to go finish reading!

Hour  24: I’m really awake right now but let me tell you..as soon as that  clock strikes 8am..I have a date with my bed at least for an hour until I have to get ready for church. When it is all said and done I think I will have done about 15-16 hours of reading when you take out my 4 hour nap at 2am, cheering, food breaks and being distracted on Twitter! The reading got SLOW towards the end! It’s been a blast!!
