Top Ten Tuesday, as always, is hosted at my other blog — The Broke & the Bookish
This week’s topic: Top Ten Things On My Bookish Bucket List…this could have easily been a list of like 50 things.
1. Meet Morgan Matson & Trish Doller: I have literally met mostly every single one of my fave authors (Gayle, Rainbow, John Green, Laurie Halse Anderson, Stephanie Perkins, Tahereh Mafi, Veronica Rossi, etc. etc.) but I have NOT yet met these two and it has to happen because they have written some of my ABSOLUTE favorite books!
2. Finish the HP series: You all know I FINALLYYY read book 1 and I blogged about that experience with my #HPvirgin tweets but I really, really need to finish the series.
3. Really work on the story I’ve been toying with: I never ever ever have had the desire to write a book ever — except for maybe when I was a wee one. But, as I admitted to you guys, I have this really, really personal story that just came to me. A “what if” from something in my life that didn’t actually happen. I just keep putting it off and I really shouldn’t because I keep thinking about it. I cry every time I start to work on it so it makes it difficult? But, even if it never goes anywhere, I at least want to give it some attention.
4. Start a Little Free Library: This is more a $$ and location issue for right now but I’d really love to start one of these.
5. Get blurbed: This is just a random thing that I know will probs never happen because the things I write in my reviews are not very eloquent like a lot of other bloggers but oh my goodness would I love to be blurbed in a book!
6. Visit 5 libraries in 5 different countries: I love travel & I really, really want to make it a point to visit other libraries in different countries. With this, I also OBVIOUSLY want to visit bookstores everywhere I go and definitely buy some books whilst abroad! (BC omg some of those covers!)
7. Read at least 3 of the 700+ page chunksters on my shelf: I’ve admitted to the fact that blogging has made me shy away from SUPER chunky books but I’d really like to clear some of those out and stop being afraid of them.
8. Have a designated reading room/library when Will and I buy a house: It doesn’t have to be big but I just want a little space to show off my bookishness and to really be able to enjoy it in all its glory. My friend Anna’s new reading room is making me all sorts of JEALOUS.
9. Go on a bookish tour: I definitely want to go to Prince Edward Island and do the Anne of Green Gables tour or some of the literary tours in England.
10. Plan a getaway with my bookish besties: We’ve all been talking about it and I had the most amazing time in Chicago hanging with some of them and I just really need to have a fun getaway with my book pals that is outside of a conference or book event!
BONUS: Get Will to read 1 book — I’ve already talked about why being married to a non-reader isn’t as bad as you may think BUT that doesn’t mean I don’t want him to give reading a chance. I WILL get him to read a book one day!

You’ve listed some good ones! It would be so cool to be blurbed in a book! And having a reading room/library made my list, too! Ever since I was little I’ve always wanted a cozy room filled with books where I could sit and read all day long. 🙂

It would be lovely to go to the places I’ve read about. Walking down the streets of Bath like Catherine in Jane Austen’s Northanger Abbey, visit the Hogwarts Castle, see where Anne and Diana played on PEI.
Great list – I hope you get to cross as many of these off as possible.

What a great list! I am having a little getaway with two of my bookish friends in April. I can’t wait to discuss all things bookish and just generally be with them. I’d love to get blurbed as well, but I don’t think I’m eloquent enough! Ha.

I found out about Little Free Libraries about 2 years ago and would love to start one too! A friend of mine’s husband is an architect and has agreed to design it for us when we get going on it Such a nice idea.

I love the idea of visiting 5 libraries in 5 different countries – that is beyond cool. I hope you get to accomplish it one day! I didn’t have anything like that on my TTT, but I might have to steal that idea. That and a bookish tour – I think the English country side would be absolutely breathtaking. In the summer months anyway.
I don’t have an issue with Joe being a non-reader, but being a non-reader of my recommendations. He reads graphic novels, but I keep trying to push some books that I’ve read and enjoyed that I think he’d like too. I’ve sparked a little interest a few of them, but nothing has stuck yet 🙁

Haha, get my husband to read a book was on my list too. I don’t mind that he’s not a reader, but I do want to find him at least one book that he will love so that he understands why I love reading so much. We will find one! Being blurbed would be so amazing. I think I would just cry if that ever happened to me.

Ahhhh! I’ve wanted to start a Little Free Library ever since I heard of them! It’s such an amazing idea. And I’m totally with you on the designated reading room / library. It would be amazing to have a room SPECIFICALLY to retreat to while reading. <3

Love your list, the last on your list: the bonus I try with my father. I am the only one in the family who loves to read, so feel a little alone but it is also nice that nobody reads exactly the same books as me or books at all. No one who give me unwanted spoilers before I have finished reading a book. My number one as to be send my manuscript to a publisher, giving out a book is my greatest dream!

I have been to Prince Edward Island and done the Anne of Green Gables shebang about three or four times now, and I can tell you it is definitely worth it. L. M. Montgomery is fascinating and all the records she left have allowed the monuments to her to really come alive. And P.E.I. is absolutely gorgeous in the summer, so you really can’t go wrong.

Yes, finish the Harry Potter series! They’re soooooo good! And then you can do the Harry Potter Hogwarts tour for #9! I’d really love to visit PEI as well because I adore Anne! She’s just so cute and PEI is known for being absolutely BEAUTIFUL and since I only live a few provinces away, there’s really NO excuse for me NOT to go! A reading room would be super cool and a Little Free Library is such a cool idea! I’d love to start one but I don’t know who’d actually participate… I feel like it works better if you live in a really close knit neighborhood in the suburbs where everyone knows everyone and since I live basically in the center of a pretty urban city, I don’t know if it would go down so well. People probably be too stuck to their phones to even notice… And I hope you do get to working on your story! If you’ve found an idea that makes you feel so passionately, I definitely think you should continue! Good luck! And great list! 🙂

Awesome list! I love the story behind the idea for the book – I kind of have a similar thing, a personal experience that happened to me 10 years ago, an event that really shaped who I am and an issue I feel like I could really write about – I’ve been toying with different ideas and written something down, but I just haven’t found the right direction yet. I hope I one day do, because I feel like writing about it could be good for me.
The Little Free Library thing is brilliant as well!

Nice list! The British Library in London is awesome! Wonderful bookish museum inside…and it’s free 🙂
Cecil Court in London is also great – a street of booksellers.

My husband doesn’t read either. Even though he was a huge reader as a kid. He is Sports/Music guy and I’m Books/sort of music kind of girl so it works. He watches sports while I read, no fighting over the tv!

Oooh, I forgot about wanting to start a Little Free Library! My bookish list has been growing after checking out everyone’s TTT. As for the husband thing… good luck! I the almost 7 years I’ve known my guy, he has read ONE book, and it was only because he was working midnights and there was nothing else to do on his shift. Sigh. But at least he read one!

Ah, yes, finish Harry Potter!! I remember when you read the first one and I was so happy. Now you need to get on the rest!:) I’d also looove to have a reading room with shelves lining the walls and big windows and comfy chairs. That just sounds perfect, doesn’t it?! Also, I’ve never heard of Little Free Library but I’m totally going to go check that out!

These are all great ideas! I think if I could visit somewhere bookish I would choose Prince Edward Island too! As a huge Anne of Green Gables fan, I want to go there someday. Also, as a frequent library user, I would love to see libraries around the world.
