Today is FREEBIE week for Top Ten Tuesday — you can post a top ten bookish list about anything you wish! I decided to list my favorite contemporary YA reads. Sorry for all my readers of adult fiction! I’ve just been reading some really good contemporary YA lately!

9. Raw Blue by Kirsty Eager– This is one book that more people need to know about! It’s written by an Australian author (and SET in Austrailia) and it is wonderful! It was refreshing to read some older YA characters and I found it to easily fall among one of my favorite books I’ve read this year.
10. The Perks of Being A Wallflower 
Are there any YA contemps I MUST read? I really want to expand my list!

I don't read a lot of contemporary but I love Stephanie Perkins. Also Perks of a Wallflower is beyond amazing.

I'm going to bookmark this post! I know you read alot of YA and I totally trust your judgment. Next time I'm looking for a good YA read I'm coming back to this post.
Also, I'm drawn towards number one and totally want to read it because Lola is my middle name. 🙂

Have you read anything by Melissa Kantor? I just discovered her recently, and have been reading through her books. My favorites are The Darlings Are Forever and The Breakup Bible. I love your list!

Love so many of the books on your list! Anna, the 2 Gayle Forman's, Amy & Roger, Speak, etc! And I can't wait to read Lola and the Boy Next Door. I'll have to check out the few titles from here that I haven't read yet.

I loved The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Have you read Naive.Super by Erland Loe? I read it at about the same time as The Perks of Being a Wallflower and although it's very different, I liked it just as much.

I've heard so many good things about all the books on your list. I want to read Raw Blue. I've seen some aweosme reviews of it, and I have listed as let me know when it comes avaiable at book depository, but as of right now nothing. Anyways, good list. 🙂

Anything by Courtney Summers is a good contemporary read, though I did like Fall For Anything best. Nova Ren Suma's recent Imaginary Girls was quite a compelling read. I adored Fixing Delilah by Sarah Ockler. Also, Sean Griswold's Head by Lindsey Leavitt.

Great list! My topic this week is my top 10 books ever. I've only read Thirteen Reasons Why and Anna, but I loved them both, so I'll definitely be checking out the rest of the books. Thanks for the recs!

I love all of those books except If I stay(which I couldn't complete reading because it was too too intense and sad and while usually I dig depressing books,here I just couldn't) Weakling me!! And Amy & Roger doesn't seem my type :/
I need to Crank and Raw Edge!
But the rest of them would probably be in my list too!!

I've only read two of the books on your list, but I agree completely with them, especially Speak. It's such a powerful book! And, I loved Anna. I can't wait to read Lola.

Great list! You MUST read The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson. It's AWESOME! Beautiful, funny, painful, addictive. Also, another MUST: Saying Goodbye in Robot by Natalie Standiford. I adore YA contemps, too! 10 Things has been on my list for a while and you just bumped it to the top.

So I don't know if you've read her before or not but if not, you must simply try Melina Marchetta. She's also an Australian author and her books are set in Australia. But she has this incredible way of teasing out the emotion, of balancing the angst and funny. It's just so…remarkable. I might turn into a blubbering fool. Try Jellicoe Road. That one was incredible. And Saving Francesca and The Piper's Son were both beautiful too. I read one book and then had to hunt down and read everything else she had written. She's brilliant and okay, I will go away now because I've embarrassed myself gushing. Hehe.

John Green, David Levithan, and Courtney Summers are a few of my favorite contemp authors. I also really loved Jenny Han's Summer series and The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight.

yes yes YES Stephanie Perkins! I will have to read everything else on this list, because based on 1 and 2 you totally get me.
I would add everything by John Green [my fave is An Abundance of Katherines], Maureen Johnson’s Suite Scarlett and Little Blue Envelopes series, plus Gabrielle Zevin’s Elsewhere!

Actually, I was in desperate need for some YA for a Non-Fiction break, so I consulted this list and blasted through “10 Things We Did” in two days. So much fun!
