Top Ten Series I’d Want With Me On A Deserted Island

Since today was my day over at The Broke & The Bookish to do the Top Ten Tuesday I decided to switch it up here on my own blog so I didn’t repeat myself! So go read my Top Ten Books I’d Want With Me On A Deserted Island (IT WAS SOOO HARD) and then come back and read my list of top ten book series I’d want with me on a deserted island.

Series That I’ve NEVER EVER Started But Would Not Want To Possibly Die Without Reading

Series I Just Would Die Without Knowing The Endings Of (complete series that I just haven’t finished)

Series Whose Final Book(s) Aren’t Out Yet But Would NEED To Be Before I’ll Travel & Potentially Get Stuck On A Deserted Island

What about you guys? Which books on here would you urge me to read before I get shipwrecked or something? πŸ˜›

About Jamie

Jamie is a 32 year old married lady (with a new baby!!) who is in denial that she's actually that old to be a married lady and a mom. When she's not reading you can find her doing Pilates followed by eating ice cream, belting out Hamilton (loud and offkey) and having adventures with her husband, daughter and rescue dog.

  1. Yupp, I really need to start Harry Potter before I die. And totally LOVE your choices for series whose final book isn’t out yet.

  2. Ok .. seriously? You haven’t read Harry Potter? Well, there you go, they are perfect to close yourself of and just read!!

Oh and I would most likely take the Fever Series from KMM with me… I won’t ever go anywhere w/o them!

  3. You. Must. Read. Harry. Potter. Immediately. <3 But seriously, totally agree with the section of final books that haven't come out yet. I could not leave this Earth not knowing what happens to Aria/Perry, June/Day, JULIET/WARNER/ADAM, and Lena/Alex/Julian. Awesome choices! Oh and after reading The Raven Boys, I know I really should pick up Shiver…

  4. Great list! I still need to read ‘Shatter Me’! Here’s my TTT:

    Alice @ Alice in Readerland

  5. YOU NEED TO FINISH THE HARRY POTTER SERIES. (sorry if that seems a bit demanding)… but seriously, you can take all the books with you… they definitely count as one book. And oh my gosh, YES about the Delirium series. I’ve just been reminded about how crazy I am about that series and how I need the last book!

Great list! I hope you end up reading some of these books soon. (:

  6. Thought I was the only person who hasnt read The Harry Potter series lol.
Great list. Feel free to check out my TTT

  7. I like how you switched the topic. πŸ™‚
I never did finish Harry Potter (read only first three books), watched all the movies and now… I don’t know. Whenever someone mentions them I always say ‘I must finish them this year!’ but… Being with them on deserted island would finnaly make me do it. πŸ˜€
LOTR was my first peek into fantasy genre so it would always be my favorite.
I agree about Legend & Delirium – we need to know what happens! πŸ˜‰
As for the rest of the series, I still did not read any of them.

My weird and ‘reasonable’ list of top ten books I’d want on deserted island…

  8. GREAT topic! I was struggling to pick books that weren’t in series…which I wasn’t entirely successful with! Awesome picks!

  9. Harry Potter! *speechless* Go and read them already! πŸ˜€ I only watch the movies from LOTR, I just can’t read the books. I always get stuck in the first one.
Under the never sky, Legend & Shatter me; still need to get started in those. Great list!

  10. HP? I have no words.
Interesting picks, I see all of those I’ve either read or about to soon. πŸ™‚ Great list.

  11. I love your list! I think it could almost be a good thing that you haven’t read HP if you’re on a deserted island. You’d have plenty of reading material, that’s for sure!

  12. I’ve been addicted, heart and soul, to the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. She goes into such depth with her characters, you really start to feel they’re part of your family. They’re a wee part sci-fi, some romance, and lots of historic fiction. So far the series is at 7 volumes with #8 due out in Fall 2013, each one a minimum of 1000 pages. And no, I have no affiliation with her other than being a fan of her writing (she replaced Jane Austin on my list of favorite writers).

  13. love this list! and especially your books that will be released soon. i wouldnt go on any plane flight before they come out. Check out our TTT ~ Katie @ Inkk

  14. When I met someone who hasn’t read Harry Potter, at first I feel kind of sorry, and then I realize: everything I love about that series, they’re going to get to experience for the first time!

  15. I’m always thinking everyone has read Harry Potter, which is stupid! And I’m actually kinda jealous because when you read it you get the entire experience for the first time! I just want to go to a deserted book island! Because there’s no way I get to take enough books with me!

  16. Ahh! You have to read Harry Potter! Gosh, I keep trying to catch up on all my review books just so I can do a re-read of them. πŸ™‚ I just snagged the first in the Jessica Darling series, I can’t wait to start it!

  17. I would really recommend finishing the Summer series, especially if you liked the first book. I think the final book is the best. I would like to read the Lord of the Rings sometime too!

  18. I didn’t read Harry Potter until this year right before BEA. In fact, I actually finished book 7 while I was on the bus to NYC with April sitting next to me. So, I understand the whole not reading it thing but now that I’ve read it, I going to have to agree with everyone else, and say: READ IT NOW! Although, I can’t really say too much because out of all the series you have listed here, that is the only one I’ve read. Hmm…

  19. Harry Potter FOR SURE, because I would want the longest, most in depth series, so I would (hopefully) never get bored. πŸ™‚
I’d also choose (not much of a YA reader):
A Song of Ice and Fire series (Game of Thrones)
Earth’s Children series (Clan of the Cave Bear)
    Outlander series
Queen’s of England series (Jean Plaidy – kind of cheating but it IS a series!)

  20. I think everyone can safely agree that The Harry Potter series and Lord of the Rings are all amazing choices. So yeah, enough chat, get reading! πŸ˜›

  21. Those three series you haven’t read yet are actually three series that I’ve read and absolutely LOVED. They’re very different from one another and equally epic! The hardest series to read out of those three is The Lord of the Rings because there’s SO much information to take in.

  22. Harry Potter was one of my choices also. You MUST read it! I haven’t read Shiver yet either but it’s sitting on my shelf waiting for me. Great list!

  23. The Shiver trilogy!!! Ah. I haven’t read Harry Potter, either…heh. The Shade trilogy is so sweet! And I LOVE THE SUMMER TRILOGY. It’s one of those that just taps at my heart, you know? And the last four book, except Legend because I ahve not read it yet. I want to, though. Super great picks, Jamie!!

  24. Yeah Jessica Darling! Put yourself on an island and finish those!

  25. Great topic! I really need to read Legend (and subsequent novels) and the Jessica Darling series! I hope you’re able to get to Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings soon – they’re both fantastic series.

  26. Oh my gosh, put all those other books away and read LOTR immediately, lol! I love Scorpio Races but Shiver was not as good, sadly. Here’s Ours

  27. How did you discover your love for Maggie Stiefvater?

    • Through reading The Raven Boys! SO GOOD. I read the Scorpio Races and appreciated the beautiful writing also but just wasn’t a good time for me to have read that book. I couldn’t fully appreciate it while I was wedding planning — needed something more fast and not as dense! Definitely going to reread that one!

  28. Oh, Harry Potter! I have read that series at least a dozen times in it’s entirety and some of the books I’ve read more! I LOVE the Jessica Darling series, it’s been one of my favorites since I was 16[and that was nine years ago!]. Definitely finish that up! Love UtNS & Delirium, and I can’t wait until the next books in the series come out. Great list. :]

  29. I love this list! It’s perfect. Some serious Harry Potter reading needs to happen!

  30. yeah–you should get on that ;P

  31. I put off reading Harry Potter for a long time, but when I did read it, I couldn’t put it down. It has been a long time since a series captured my attention so thoroughly that I was reading constantly. Thankfully, I read them over summer break. Otherwise, I would’ve had to quit my job to keep reading. I will admit that the first one and the first half of the second one aren’t as fantastic, but once I got to that point I was completely hooked!

  32. Nice choices. πŸ˜€ I loved Shiver. πŸ˜€

  33. You’ve never read The Lord of the Rings? Tolkien is brilliant! I would totally get one that ;-). And I agree – Shatter Me was absolutely AMAZING!
