1. We had some issues with the pup:  Early in November we noticed Finn having a limp (w/ no apparent pain or slowing down of activity) when he would run (well not a full run but when he would more so trot) and we took him to the vet, they put him on anti-inflammatory meds and then he was still limping so we took him back for x-rays (which saddest thing ever..he was crying for me and scratching to get to me when she led him out) and found out that he has hip dysplasia. She didn’t recommend surgery yet so I don’t think it’s awful yet but we have to give him supplements to help with his joints and really just monitor the limp/everything he’s doing. He doesn’t act like he’s in pain at all but he probably is a little bit. Hoping we follow the vet’s plans and that it never gets too bad. Feel so bad for the little guy 🙁

2. I saw Mockingjay Part 2 with my book club — I really enjoyed it!! I cried quite a bit, not going to lie. So bittersweet for this franchise to be over but I truly enjoyed these movies just as much as I enjoyed the books.

3. Will and I booked our trip to Madrid and London: SO SO SO SO excited to return to London (Will has never been though) and visit Madrid for the first time (plus visit some friends who recently moved there AND had a baby last week!!). If you’ve got recs for either of those cities of MUST DO’S/SEES/EATS/DRINKS let me have them! Also maybe some of your favorite books set in either place?

4. I had two separate dates with a new group of lady friends– I got to try two new local places — one for brunch and one for an Italian dinner and both times were so fun! It’s always so hard to make new friends at this age and I’m so happy to find people again who I click with. I’m looking forward to more shenanigans with them next month.

5. I started culling my “to read” list on Goodreads: It was out of control at around 1300 books — due to being on Goodreads since 2008 and also my habit to had ANYTHING that I am even remotely interested in or want to remember or want to check out to that list. It’s been a tedious process but I feel really good about taking a first stab at weeding out books I’m not interested in anymore — whether it’s that my interests are different than from when I added it years ago or trusted friends have all disliked it or I’m just not SUPER excited about it like I was when I added it (or some I’m like WHY THE HECK DID I ADD THIS?!). There still are probably way too many books on there…more than I’ll ever read..but it’s a start to get out the obvious ones I know I’ll never get to or am 100% not interested in anymore.

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

Not surprising since An Ember in Ashes was a huge hyped up book this year!

mr10

“When a friendship crumbles, there are only really two things that can bring it back: a shitload of time, or a sincere apology.” — Just Visiting by Dahlia Adler
Seriously so true. I’ve seen both scenarios unfold in my own life. Sometimes time has brought us back and realizing how silly it was or realizing we missed the friendship or forgetting what we had even let our friendship fall away. I’ve reconnected recently with the best friend I had in 8th-10th grade. I don’t remember why we let differences of opinions in regards to certain high school things get in the way of our friendship (we started to be pulled in different directions) but it all seems so silly now. I know we’ll likely never be close again but I have hope we might be in each other’s lives. She was my first real friend when I moved in 8th grade and she was so important to me. And likewise with the apology….I’ve been on both sides of the giving and receiving a sincere apology and man it can do wonders. Like literally feel the hurt and anger melting away.

mr6

Ummm I really didn’t post much this month (I slow down a lot in November and December) so not much to wade through but here’s

1. The Tale of Two Warring Bookworms Within Me — Bookworm problems, man!

2. Recommendations Needs From YOU: It was nice to turn the tables and ask you all for book recs — in this case I was looking for comic books and graphic novels! AND BOY DID YOU ALL HELP. I am still wading through suggestions!! Thank you!

3. Ten Book To Movie Adaptions I Want To See: Already got to check Mockingjay off that list yay!

4. Whatcha In The Mood For? Happy to provide some recs for different moods! Hope you guys found some!

5. Beyond the Pages: Insecurities Then vs Now : It was nice to reflect on insecurities as a teen vs. now at 30 — “I think one of the things I’m learning about adulthood is that certain things that you experience as a young person don’t simply disappear as you get older…you just learn to deal with them differently/better and your tools for handling it are sharper. It could also be that you just simply run out of shits to give –you only have so much you can worry or care about and something has to give. ONLY A FINITE AMOUNT OF SHITS TO BE GIVEN.”

mr12Any book talks honestly! I just want to talk about booooks with you all.

mr7NOTHING.  Will Jamie ever return? WE SHALL SEE. Maybe in the new year.

1. How To Hygge (or 29 Ways To Actually Enjoy Winter) – Winter is the pits for me, guys. I get sad that the sun is out. I get miserable that the cold air assaults me as I leave my apartment. I kick my car when the door gets frozen with ice. I just miss the nice weather. Sure I love snuggling in my blankets with some hot cocoa and a book but BLAH winter just gives me major blues. SOOO I will be trying this list and forcing myself to change my attitude towards winter!

2. Now What? 5 Steps To Figuring Out What You Want To Do Next When You Don’t Have A Goddamn Clue: I just entered my 30’s in October and I feel like I *AM* at this crossroads where I’m like I don’t know at all where I want to go next. I feel like certain doors are closing and I need to rally and make a new game plan for life. Going to try some of her tips!

3. 30 Simple Ways To Take Care of Yourself Over the Holidays: I’m already looking at my calendar for December and I’m half tempted to just go curl in bed until the month is over. I’m EXCITED for all my plans and things to do but also…wow lots of peopling and being on the go. Need to remember to take care of myself — particularly because the holidays always have the tendency of making me sad (without me even really being aware that’s what it is going on) because I miss my mom.

4. Smoky Maple Chipotle Brussel Sprouts: Hey don’t judge me…brussel sprouts are DELICIOUS, YO. And these look amazing and Will is totally going to make them for us. Maybe next month I’ll get back to sharing desserts or yummy drinks…but BRUSSEL SPROUTS.

5. No emojis necessary from Write Meg!: I’ve enjoyed Meg’s blog for years and this experience she shared with connecting with a friend IRL and her reflection of friendship in the age of social media.

mr8

1. Jessica Jones: I loooooove it. Twitter is always on point with new show recs. I’m only a few episodes in but I’m so digging it.
2. Trader Joe’s Peppermint Joe Joe’s Ice Cream– I’ve been enjoying it a liiiiittle too much this month.
3. Planning our trip to Spain and England: it’s also probably why I haven’t blogged much because I just keep going down rabbit holes of SO MANY THINGS WE ARE GOING TO DO.

mr9

1. All the Christmas parties: Will’s work Christmas party, family Christmas party, book club Christmas party, Christmas party with new lady friends. ALL THE CHRISTMAS PARTIES.

 2. Slowing things down on the blog: For the past couple years I’ve slowed down on the blog to help rejuvenate before the new year, plan for what I want to do blog-wise, enjoy the time with friends and family and to conserve my energy because let’s be real…blogs have a slow time in December. It’s going to be so nice to not post very much…though I already kind of accidentally did that this past month.
3. My A Very Handmade Holiday giveaways + End of Year Survey: The 6th Annual End of Year Survey will go up this coming week and I will be back with the second year of week long giveaways from amazing bookish Etsy shops/small businesses!

What book do you hope Santa brings you this year? And what NON-book item do you hope he brings you this year? (seriously though why can’t Santa be actually real though quite alarming to have someone slinking around your house when you sleep I suppose.)

About Jamie

Jamie is a 32 year old married lady (with a new baby!!) who is in denial that she's actually that old to be a married lady and a mom. When she's not reading you can find her doing Pilates followed by eating ice cream, belting out Hamilton (loud and offkey) and having adventures with her husband, daughter and rescue dog.

I read about Finny on Twitter and awwhhh, I hope it doesn’t get too bad 🙁
I should take a look at my Goodreads to-read list. It’s even worse than your 1300 books, haha.
I can’t wait to read Passenger! I’ve already heard some good things about it and it sounds amazing.
Jessica Jones is waiting on my to-watch list on Netflix.
Ways to enjoy the Winter.. yeah, good luck with that. When the sun disappears and the temperatures drop, it’s already terrible for me. I’m really sensitive to cold – it affects my body and that affects my mood. I just need to get through it.

-Noteworthy this month: I GOT A FLIPPING JOB 😀 And it sounds like everything I was looking for.
    -New obessions: marzipan <3
-Song rec: Adele's new album. Especially When we were young.
-Best book: it's terrible, but I've only read 3 books this month.. And two were re-reads, haha.

Thanks lady! I hope it isn’t a big deal in his life and goes away (she said it possibly could though I don’t understand how haha).

It’s feeling like it’s taking a lot of weight off my shoulders to cull it. I mean, I’m not halfway done and there’s still 1200 books but BABY STEPS. I’m just interested in TOO MANY books I guess.

OMG YOU MUST WATCH JESSICA JONES SOON.

I’m so with you….the lack of sun and the bitter cold? MISERABLE and I just don’t want to get out of bed. I really do think I have seasonal depression :/

      OMG CONGRATS GIRL!!!!! How exciting.
      I’ve never had marzipan!!
YAS ADELE. I’ve been obsessed with Hello. I haven’t gotten a chance to grab the new album to really listen to all the songs but soon this month I’m just going to lay on the couch with that album and my big headphones and enjoy it!
And girl I feel you…the last couple months I had barely read ANYTHING. The one month it was 3 books EEP.

Your posts are always so interesting.
I wondered why you weren’t posting videos much, and there I was tagging you in things. >_< Fail! But yeah, not much to mention on my side other than bad stuff. Sigh. I'd been doing NaNoWriMo but am never getting to 50k when I'm at 27k now and there's only 2 days left. -.-
It's cool that you're coming to England. Hopefully the weather will be decent for you as even in May/June/July we can have really awful rain and such. Then again, sometimes we get heat waves. It's so confusing.

Aw thank you! And yeaaaaah I always struggle once it gets darker out in the fall and winter because our lighting in the apartment is shit anyways. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a routine going in the new year plus Will and I just bought a new camera so MOTIVATION.

I hope things get better for you!! <3 And hey...27K is still amazing!! It's better than the 0 I did!! Hopefully NaNo at least gave you the burst of motivation you needed.

FINGERS CROSSED WE HAVE NICE WEATHER. When I was there in 2007 it only drizzled one day and the rest it was beautiful and sunny! I must remember to pack an umbrella or just purchase one when we get there haha

I’m so sad about your pup, but woo hoo Europe! I’ve never been, and it is such a bucket list item for me! I haven’t tried the Trader Joe’s peppermint ice cream, but I’m now adding it to my list :). I’m hoping Santa brings me the Harry Potter books. I just started the series (I know, I know), and I’d like to have my own complete set as I finish the series up for #potterbinge!

I think it’s great that you’re working on clearing out your TO READ shelf on Goodreads! I actually wound up separating titles I was considering reading from the rest of my ACTUAL TBR, just so I had a better idea of what I had already to read and what I was considering checking out eventually. It was a lot of work, but definitely worth it in the end! Hope your culling process goes well 🙂

I really love the way you do your wrap-up posts. It sounds like this month has been pretty good to you. I, too, cried quite a bit watching Mockingjay Part 2. And I am so incredibly jealous that you get to go to London. I’m dying to pay a visit! I’m glad to see you’re loving Jessica Jones. I’ve heard tons of great things about it, but I’ve yet to start it.

    Such an interesting post!

I’m glad you liked Just Visiting, I’ve been DYING to read it. It’s definitely at the top of my Christmas list.
I’ve heard a ton about Jessica Jones, but I’m not huge on superhero shows so I was a little nervous. I might just give it a shot anyway.

Book I want “Santa” to bring me this year? Harry Potter: Film Wizardy! They’ve released an extended edition and I only have the one before they extended it! Oh, and hardcover of “Incarnate” by: Jodi Meadows (BECAUSE IT’S IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND)!
Non-book item that I hope “Santa” brings me this year? A truckload of Amazon gift cards LOL.

So, I actually had a pretty exciting month (half-way through)!! On November 12th, I won floor tickets and meet & greet through Coast 93.1 (a Maine radio station) to the So You Think You Can Dance tour!! And then the event was on the 14th! It was AMAZING, omg! All the dancers were so nice and down-to-earth! The dance part was awesome too. I posted tons of pictures from it on my instagram (@likewhoaaemmy) 🙂

No new obsessions, just a few reignited ones lol. Like for instance, peppermint bark and then Edy’s peppermint wonderland (peppermint stick) ice cream. Hallmark Christmas movies lol.
You’ve probably heard it, but “Hello” by: Adele haha.
Best books I read this month? A lot, actually!! “Heart of Betrayal” by: Mary E Pearson, “The Bronze Horseman” by: Paullina Simons, “Cinder” by: Marissa Meyer, and “I Was Here” by: Gayle Forman! And I only have about 39% left of “Open Road Summer” by: Emery Lord 🙂

    Full Dark, No Stars
    How to Seduce a Scot
    Illuminae

Glad to see you had a pretty good month. Hope next one is fantastic as well!

I’m sorry about Finn’s troubles 🙁 We’ve been struggling with our dog behavior-wise and seriously thought maybe we couldn’t keep her, but finally got her into an intense board & train program a week or so ago. She will be there for a month at least, but about two days after we dropped her off we were both totally missing her already! Would love to know which dog training book you read and what you thought of it.

Back in May I decided to get rid of my To Read list on Goodreads because it was stressing me out. Every time I picked up a book to read and it wasn’t on my list I felt so guilty! So, I deleted everything except the books for my TBR Pile Challenge. It is so freeing! My one fear is that I’d be ready to read something new and wouldn’t be able to remember anything I wanted to read, but so far that hasn’t happened. It probably helps that I work in a library and am surrounded by literally thousands of books. Good luck culling your list – I bet you’ll be glad you did!

I was in London a couple of months ago and one place you need to visit is Hatchard’s book store. They have two locations – one in Piccadilly and another in St Pancras International Station (conveniently located near Kings Cross Station and the Harry Potter shop if you’re into that. Which I am). And I really enjoyed the British Museum – but I think everyone has been there. I went to a whole bunch of places – mostly museums – and saw a play at Shakespeare’s Globe which is an amazing experience, if you’re into Shakespeare. But Hatchard’s is definitely a must-do.

Hi, just stumbled across your blog so apologies for the late response. I am based in London so if you haven’t already visited us let me know the sorts of things you like to do and I am sure I can make some recommendations. Not sure how much of London you have already seen but some random thoughts:

For example: Borough Market (near London Bridge Station) is a fabulous fresh food market selling artisan cheeses, breads, exotic meats etc – great to wander around and the stallholders offer free tastes. It is located just behind Southwark Cathedral – a cathedral has stood on that site for over 1,000 years. You could also book tickets to go to the top of the Shard (a large office block/hotel right on London Bridge station) to see London – warning tickets are quite pricey. Then you can either walk along the Embankment (bank of the River Thames) past The Golden Hind (Sir Walter Raleigh’s ship) and the Tate Modern art gallery towards the London Eye (think big wheel that has great views of London) – if you want to go on the Eye I recommend booking in advance and paying the extra for the Champagne trip (costs more but you don’t have to queue for 30 minutes to get on the capsule). Or you could walk across London Bridge and up Bishopsgate (a street), stop off at Leadenhall Market which was used to film some of the Diagon Alley scenes in Harry Potter – if the shops are open you may see rabbits and grouse hanging outside the butcher’s (not for the vegetarians!), then carry on up Bishopsgate and visit Spitalsfield market which is full of trendy little booths selling handmade bread/jumpers/hats as well as “antiques”, old records etc. There are also lots of places to eat ranging from pulled pork vans to Mexican, Italian, burgers at the casual end or Galvin la Chapelle at the high end for Michelin star dining. Nearby is the famous Petticoat Lane market although it mostly seems to be cheap rubbish these days. If you haven’t had enough of seeing London from up high you could also visit the Duck and Waffle pub on top of the Heron Tower (110 Bishopsgate) – have a drink and the signature duck and waffle dish!

Anyway, some alternative thoughts from the Tower of London, St Paul’s Cathedral, Buckingham Palace tours.

⁣
I managed to pick my next read, as chronicled in these photos, but it was not easy with so many options!

Decided to go with a most anticipated book of 2022 for me from an author who has written books I’ve really enjoyed.
⁣
I am about halfway through and cruising along because I NEED to figure out if Joseph is the worst or what really is going on here in this story that starts with 3 women being stood up by the same guy on Valentine’s Day. I feel like there is something more to this one but I can’t quite put my finger on it yet! ⁣
⁣
Hoping to finish it this weekend! What are you reading this weekend? And do you have trouble picking your next read? How do you choose amongst all the options?
Sunshine on my face and a mass market fitting perf Sunshine on my face and a mass market fitting perfectly in my hands.⁣…
⁣
Truly felt like there were zero things more joyful than the warm sun on my face after colder, dreary days and remembering how much I love the feel of reading a mass market paperback. It’s probably a very specific little joy of mine and I definitely reveled in it today.⁣
⁣
But the real big joy has been rereading this book and experiencing it all over again before @bridgertonnetflix season 2 — especially the Pall Mall scene. And something to do with a 🐝 😅 iykyk⁣
⁣
With all the joy I’m getting out of this reread it makes me wonder why I don’t prioritize rereading like I used to before I started blogging 10 years ago.⁣
⁣
In my head I just want to experience all the new stories and try to make a dent in my TBR but I forget, until I do it, the genuine pleasure in revisiting old companions and how it’s a different side of reading one can experience — the nostalgia, the person I’ve become since reading the book and the way I approach a book already knowing what happens. Well the general sense of what happens because my memory is 💩!⁣
⁣
Anyways that’s what I’m up to currently. Trying to finish this up so I can pack my books for a short trip I’m going on later this week. My first ✈️ since 2019!⁣
⁣
Whatcha reading? Do you reread often? And tell me a little teeny tiny joy from your day.
If I was a person who made Reels I would somehow m If I was a person who made Reels I would somehow mash up the “screaming, crying” Blank Space clip with the “emotional damage” refrain to the Bastille’s Pompeii to let you know how I feel after the last few chapters of #TheGildedCage !!⁣
⁣
And if you don’t understand what that means, I’m sorry 😅⁣
⁣
But woo boy do I need the third installment of this series!!! But I also think I’m going to be even more emotional damaged after that one soooo.⁣
⁣
Seriously, one of the best simple joys of my life is the feeling of being so wholly and totally invested in a series that you have to remind yourself it’s fiction lest you spend all day in bed crying about the devastated look a character had on their face — a face you didn’t even see with your own two eyes but you are so invested that you feel nauseous and gutted like you sure did.⁣
⁣
Just me orrrrrr?⁣
⁣
No but for real. If you love YA fantasy, go start #theprisonhealer so you can be caught up when The Blood Traitor comes out in June (and be my emotional support person for the duration of reading it). I love these characters and I dying to see what happens next.

Have you read this series yet? Last book series that had you SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP because of the EMOTIONAL DAMAGE it inflicted?

⁣
But y’all Black Cake is so good!! I’m almost halfway through and I know it’s A Choice to declare it one of the best books I’ve read all year but I’m feeling bold based on how it’s going.⁣
⁣
I love a good family story (especially one with a family secret!) and this is top notch. The writing is 👌🏻 and I know I’m going to be screaming when the pieces come together!⁣
⁣
In other news, I’m 65% of the way through The Dry by Jane Harper and I’m enjoying it so much that I ended up staying on the treadmill twice this weekend after my allotted time was over just so I could keep listening.⁣
⁣
Will and I FINALLY started Ted Lasso this weekend. It is a damn delight!! For all the hype and praise, it has overdelivered for me which is kind of shocking because normally hype is scary. I told Will that I feel like all the praise hasn’t even come close to how much I could love it. We are only 7 episodes in so no spoilers!⁣
⁣
I’m kinda mad we sat on starting it for so long but at the same time I think the timing is right to help me see my way out of this February funk I have found myself in the past couple weeks.⁣
⁣
Anyways, hope everyone is having a good weekend! Have you read Black Cake or The Dry? Where are my Ted Lasso fans at? I’m happy to join your ranks! Also please tell me your fave character bc I am finding it impossible to pick this far!
No but seriously every year I contemplate organizi No but seriously every year I contemplate organizing a search party for one Katjay Millay who wrote one beautiful and amazing book and then...vanished.

Like for real. She wrote a tweet in 2015 that she was taking a few weeks off and then.... no tweets, no new books. Radio silence.

I hope she’s okay, for real, and that she knows I obsessively stalk Goodreads/Twitter/the internet to make sure I haven’t missed new book news from her at least twice a year. 🥺

Is there any author who you’ve been waiting forever for a new release from??

I’d also like to add YA author Sarah Ockler to this list! Last release was 2015 😭😭
Ahhh some of my absolute OG young adult faves are Ahhh some of my absolute OG young adult faves are becoming movies/tv shows soon! And one of them is out TODAY!⁣
⁣
The Sky is Everywhere — it’s out today on AppleTV+ and I can’t wait to sob my brains out. One of my absolute most favorite books ever by one of my all time favorite authors. It’s gorgeous and heartbreaking in its poignant depiction of grief, first love and healing — all woven together in Jandy’s signature gorgeous, lyrical writing.⁣
⁣
Along For The Ride (out April 22) — one of a handful upcoming @sdessen books being adapted in the near future and I can’t wait! These books are so near and dear to my heart.⁣
⁣
No release dates yet for The Summer I Turned Pretty tv series (the ultimate coming of age summertime story!) or The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight (the cutest meet cute of all meet cutes all set in 24 hours) but I am HYPED and have all my fingers crossed for 2022 🤞🤞

Have you read any of these? Anyone else hyped for these adaptations.

Also, for the past few years, I’ve kept a running list of books becoming movies/tv shows for the year. Head to my bio to check out the list! I try to update it weekly and keep on top of it all but life ya know 😆 but I try!
Is this a book club? I think we just started a boo Is this a book club? I think we just started a book club. Or maybe just a @jenniferesmith appreciation club?? (partner @randomhouse )⁣

Either way, after loving Jennifer E. Smith's YA books for years, it's been a real treat to also read her debut picture book with Riley (we loved!!) as well as her adult debut out in 3 weeks!⁣
⁣
⁣So let me tell you about that adult debut — The Unsinkable Great James!!

This one just was the perfect warm-hearted read for a cold and gloomy January.

A perfect setting to escape into (Alaska), a tender-hearted meet cute and a poignant look at the shared grieving experience of those left behind.

I was initially drawn, like I always am, to the daughter losing a mother storyline and an exploration of that grief but I was so taken by the father/daughter relationship between two people who were left untethered by losing the person who held their family together.

Greta and her father don't see eye-to-eye on basically anything when they are thrown together on this Alaskan cruise, a trip Greta's father and mother were supposed to take, and you can feel the tension of their long-standing tumultuous and fractured relationship -- a relationship that feels like its hanging in a balance and could not recover.

The two are both hurting so much from this loss and it took my breath away at times in how true it rang to be in your own grief bubble and feeling like the loss is yours and yours alone while forgetting about the others shouldering their own piece of this loss. I loved watching them very slowly SEE one another.

I can't say enough good things about this one -- great setting, Greta's music, the meet-cute, the messy and imperfect nature of family and love. Definitely recommend!⁣
I was on a hot reading streak and now for the past I was on a hot reading streak and now for the past few days I get all cozy in bed to read at night and am asleep by 4 pages in. Will got a kick out of waking up to me basically spooning my kindle. Ebbs and flows, y’all.⁣
⁣
Let’s do a little reading update with an edition of Last, Current & Next.⁣
⁣
Last - The Girl With the Louding Voice: Adunni is by far one of the most memorable voices I’ve read in a book in a very long time. Her hope and resilience in the face of some awful situations kept me turning the pages and rooting for her. I can’t believe it took me so long to finally read it. Highly recommend!⁣
⁣
Now - Deep in Providence (thank you @fiercereads ): I’m about halfway through after I carved out some time to read early this morning and I’m enjoying this story of grief, love and magic. I’m nervous about these girls trying to resurrect their dead friend though! When I put it down today I was getting a little creeped by some things happening.⁣
⁣
Next - The Kiss of Deception: I’m rereading the first book in this YA fantasy series because it’s been forever and I really wanna finish the trilogy. I’ve been really wanting to go through series I’ve left unfinished for years (not for lack of interest but because I suck at juggling all the series I start) so this is one of them. I remember loving it so I’m excited to dive in and binge.

Whatcha reading? Have you read any of these? Anyone else on the struggle train with reading at night right now?
Braved the downpour to get my library holds. I hop Braved the downpour to get my library holds. I hope they are worth it! Please tell me they are!⁣
⁣
This is also, before I get to the stack, an appreciation post for my tiny library and wonderful librarians.⁣
⁣
They normally open at 9am during the week —except Fridays. Did I remember that? Nope. So I was I was SO proud of Riley and I for getting our butts in gear to be for around opening time to drop off a stack and get my new ones.⁣
⁣
And alas, I go to open the door and it’s locked. Now I’m holding Riley’s hand, two tote bags full of books, an umbrella that I’m trying to keep over the both of us, mind you. I’m thoroughly confused until it hits me that it’s Friday.⁣
⁣
So I’m like, welp, guess we are just dropping off in the bin so I try to grab my books out and put them in one-handed while juggling the umbrella and less than enthused Riley.⁣
⁣
Mercifully the door opens and our children’s librarian takes pity on us and lets us in to drop off and pick up the holds.⁣
⁣
Is this what being a VIP as a celebrity feels like?? Sure feels like it to me 😆 for real though, it pays to be a regular and have a cute kid in tow who is being pelted with rain.⁣
⁣
Anyways excited about this stack but especially Wahala, Daughter of the Moon Goddess and How High We Go In The Dark the most.⁣
⁣
Also have been meaning to snag The World Gives Way after @jordys.book.club recommendation!⁣
⁣
Have you read any of these? Any that you think were definitely worth the rain-soaked journey for??⁣
⁣
Alright now I’m off to curl up and read on this rainy, dreary day which is really what I think a day like this is meant for.

More about Jamie

Jamie is a 32 year old married lady (with a new baby!!) who is in denial that she's actually that old to be a married lady and a mom. When she's not reading you can find her doing Pilates followed by eating ice cream, belting out Hamilton (loud and offkey) and having adventures with her husband, daughter and rescue dog.

Looking for something?

“Why is it so hard to pick my next read?” — “Why is it so hard to pick my next read?” — she says as she is surrounded by piles on piles of books on the floor and desk and packed on her bookshelf and book cart. (Partner @berkleypub - thanks for the review copy).⁣

A real life reading photo because I couldn’t be A real life reading photo because I couldn’t be bothered to make it pretty — mismatching fuzzy sucks, coffee almost gone and Christmas pajama pants that are super old.⁣
