Top Ten Tuesday, as always, is hosted at my other blog — The Broke & the Bookish
This week’s topic: Top Ten Recent & Upcoming Book to Movie Adaptations I Want To Watch
I did Top Ten Book to Movie Adaptations I STILL Haven’t Watched over at TBTB back in September so I didn’t want to do that same spin on the topic so I figured I’d talk about the recently released and the upcoming movie adaptations that I really want to see!
1. Mockingjay Part 2: OMG OMG OMG I cannot even wait. Going with book club on the 21st! Although I know I’m going to cry about a certain character death!!! And honestly…as far as book to movie franchises go…The Hunger Games has just been so fantastic for me!
2. Pride & Prejudice & Zombies: It’s been a long time since I read this (or Pride & Prejudice for that matter) so I’m excited! I probably won’t re-read before but I think this will be fun!
3. Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children: I LOVED this book so much and I think it’s going to make a great movie!! I think this one comes out 2016!
4. The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight: This makes me sooo happy this is going to be a movie (according to IMDB it says 2016). I looved this adorable book and think it will make a cute movie with lots of swoooons.
5. The 5th Wave: Cannot WAIT to see this movie. It’s going to be so action packed and intense! I really need to read the second book so maybe I’ll do a reread in preparation for the movie AND to continue on.
6. Paper Towns: I meant to see this in the theater but never got a chance to! Though Looking For Alaska is still my favorite JG book I’m extremely excited for this movie!
7. Dark Places: This is one of those I haven’t read yet but definitely will before I watch the movie. It sounds SO GOOD. Just need to find time to read it first.
8. The Martian: Another one I still need to read before I watch the movie. I’m SO intrigued by it.
9. Wild: I love Reese and I really need to make Will grab this on Redbox one night.
10. A Walk In the Woods: I LOVE Bill Bryson and it’s been forever since I read this. Very cool that this is a movie — I hadn’t even realized it was coming out! If you like travelogues…check it out!
So tell me…are you excited about any of these? As for the ones that came out already…what did you think if you saw them? Tell me what other book to movie adaptions I should be excited about (and read the book of).
P.S. Ten Books I’d Love To See As Movies/TV Shows // Top Ten Of My ALL TIME Favorite Movies // Top Ten Best & Worst Book to Movie Adaptations // Like these tv shoes/movies? Read these books!

I’m definitely most excited for Mockingjay Part 2! I actually can’t believe the world of hunger games is going to be over so soon because it doesn’t feel like that long ago that The Hunger Games was released! and I’m actually pretty excited for Miss Peregrine’s too 🙂
Lauren says
It looks like we share quite a few!
I really enjoyed Dark Places as a book and I’m definitely interested in seeing what was made of the adaptation. The Martian, both book and movie, is pretty awesome!
Check out my TTT.
Anne @HeadFullofBooks says
Let’s see. I have either seen and liked or or want to see every movie on your list.

Chrissi Reads says
I really need to read Dark Places as well, before I watch the movie! I am also really intrigued to see what they do with Miss Peregrine!
Jaime says
Great list! I added TV shows to mine as well since I couldn’t think of that many movies I wanted to see lol

Lucy @ The Reading Date says
The Martian (book and movie) is so great- I think you’re gonna love it. And OMG I’m dying to see Mockingjay too. Love that you’re seeing it with your book club, and yeah I’ll be crying too I’m sure. And right- doesn’t Statistical seem made for the movies? It could be an even better movie than book (crosses fingers). Fab list, Jamie!
Amy @ Book Enthral says
I am so, so, so looking forward to The 5th Wave! I can’t wait! Only like a week until Mockingjay!!!! The Martian is a BRILLIANT book and movie!
Great list! 🙂
P.S did you make that graphic? Because it is fantastic! <3
Michelle @ Pink Polka Dot Books says
LOVE the journal graphic. And I can’t wait for more J-Law as Katniss!!! It’s SO close it’s starting to hurt! I saw Dark Places and it was pretty good. If you read the book, I felt it stuck pretty close to the book… but definitely watered down. There’s no way Diondra would have translated 100% to the movie bc she was SO vulgar. I also really want to see Paper Towns soon. I need to read the book first though 🙁
Joan @ Fiddler Blue says
I’m very excited for all these movies! My husband is also a big Bill Bryson fan so that last book would be much more up his alley :p
My Top Ten
Jess @ Curiouser and Curiouser says
Great list! Mockingjay and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies made my list this week, too. 🙂
Jazz @ Jazmin Jade Reviews says
Paper Towns is something I keep meaning to both read and see but I just haven’t for some reason. I am making my way through JG’s books though!
Dara says
I must admit that I’m not too excited for Mockingjay Pt. 2. I think the time between the first part and the second one is too long that I don’t really care about the latter anymore. Am I the only one who feels that way?
Tamara @ Tamaraniac says
I thought both the book and the movie for The Martian was great!
Rachel Writes Things says
I love the Dark Places book and I haven’t seen the movie yet. I’m a little nervous to! Oh and i had no idea Stastical…Love was going to be made into a movie, I have a few of those ‘wishfuls’ on my blog post today, aka I hope it comes true 🙂

Great picks! The Martian made my list as well. I really need to carve out some time to go see it while it’s in theaters.
Allyson says
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is so stinking exciting! I can’t wait for that one 🙂

Lindsay says
What a gorgeous TTT! I’m excited for most of the upcoming movies you listed, and I can vouch for “The Martian,” “Paper Towns” and “Wild.” I went to see “A Walk in the Woods” at the theater, though, and I was kinda disappointed. It was more farce than serious memoir — and I think hiking the AT is interesting enough without a bunch of dumb humor. The book was much better.
Leandra Wallace says
I started The 5th Wave awhile ago, but just haven’t gotten back into it yet. It was good, and I know I’d get into it if I picked it up again, just need to do it. But yeah, I think it’d make a kick-butt movie too. And P&P&Zombies! Haven’t read it, but know I’ll watch the movie. I love anything regency-type area. I’ve been struggling to read P&P, and I just…can’t. I don’t feel smart enough to read it, and it just loses me in all the words. But some of my fav books in the world are Marion Chesney’s Regency romances. I’ve reread those and reread those, they’re my comfort reads.
Annalisse says
I’m super excited for Mockingjay!!! Yes, I will be crying. Also looking forward to Miss Peregrine’s . It should be fantastic. The Martian is so freaking good, book and movie. The book was hilarious and so wonderful everyone should read it.
Meg says
Excellent list!! The P&P+Z trailer literally made me jump out of my chair and scream, I cannot wait.
I just watched Dark Places this weekend and was super into it though I kind of wish I read the book first. The Martian is sooooooooo goooooooooooood!
Lisa @ Captivated Reader says
Nice list!! I realize now that I forgot to add The Book Thief to my list this week too as I still have to read this book or watch the movie adaptation.

Charnell @ Reviews from a Bookworm says
Great movies on your list! There are quite a few on here that I want to watch myself. I NEED MOCKINGJAY PART 2 TO COME OUT ALREADY!!! I LOVED The Martian, it was sooooo good. Here’s my TTT.
malia says
I didn’t know Miss Peregrine’s Home was going to be a movie! Cannot wait, thanks for this post, there are definitely some movie’s I’ll have to add to my list:-)
Cait @ Paper Fury says
I’m so so looking forward to Mockingjay!! And by “looking forward to it” I mean SCREAMING BECAUSE I’M NOT EMOTIONALLY PREPARED FOR THAT ONE PERSON’S DEATH OR THAT OTHER PERSON OR ANY OF THE PERSONS. *breaks down sobbing*
Ahem.
But still!! I haven’t read The 5th Wave yet, but I loved the trailer. 😀 I also can’t wait for Looking for Alaska (although I still need to watch Paper Towns). And the Scorch Trials. XD And I know it’s not a movie, but I’m desperately anticipating the Lemony Snicket TV series that’s coming out next year!
Here’s my TTT!
Jessica @ a GREAT read says
OOoh nice picks! So excited for The 5th Wave!!! And P&P&Z looks pretty cool too though I never read the book(s)!
Here’s my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!

Ed Hoornaert says
I have a hard time imagining how anyone can make a movie of A Walk in the Woods. Although there’s a tiny bit of story, the book is mostly about the history of the Appalachian Trail. My TTT: http://eahoornaert.com/2015/11/10/top-ten-tuesday-movie-adaptations/
Charlotte @ Bookmarks and Blogging says
I can’t wait for Mockingjay part 2! It’ll be so bittersweet though, seeing as it’s the end of the series. 🙁 Miss Peregrine’s would make a very interesting movie as well. I’m not sure how they’d incorporate the photos though, and they were a very big part of it (for me anyway!)
Reading With Jade says
I had no idea Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children was being made in to a movie – where have I been?! I think it’ll be really interesting to see how that book is adapted in a visual film format seen as the book itself is already pretty visual what with the inclusion of pictures. That’ll be one to keep my eye out for.
Mel@thedailyprophecy says
1. That character death is going to ruin me. Bye, bye, favorite.
2. The trailer looks so promising!
3. I can’t wait for this movie. I think the story will work really well on screen.
8. I need to read the book soon, because the movie looks fantastic.
