I had such a great response to sharing a sneak peek at what was on my library holds list that I decided I’d do it periodically when I feel like my queue turns over a bit and has new stuff on it.
If you don’t know, I am a HUGE library lover (just check out my Instagram @perpetualpageturner lately) and my queue is always a LITTLE out of control!!
I’d love for you to let me know if you have read or are planning to read any of these! I know that these are all totally going to come in at the same time and I’m going to have to likely prioritize!

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens: STILL ON THE LIST FOR THIS ONE SINCE LAST TIME. Feels like 87 years I’ve waited. (#6 on the list)
An Orchestra of Minorities: this one was on my 2019 must read books list but it’s one I’ve heard probably the least about so I’m excited to dig in! (En route to my library).
I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh: This one was actually just added recently to my library list thanks to someone at book club! As with the next one from the same author! (En route)
I See You by Clare Mackintosh (en route)
An Anonymous Girl: I’ve really been in a thriller/mystery lately and this one was definitely a most anticipated book for me! (22 on the list)
The Au Pair: Another one the thrillers I’m so excited about for 2019!! (#7 on the list)
The Wicked King: SO PUMPED FOR THIS SEQUEL AND ALL THE WAYS IT MIGHT KILL ME. (#5 on the list)
Educated: I’ve heard nothing except raving things about this book so I had to see what it’s all about and get back to reading some non-fiction! (#365 on the list UGH)
There There: This is one I feel like I saw all over Instagram and had to add it to my list! (#17 on the list)
The Tattooist of Auschwitz: I’ve heard this book is incredible and I kept forgetting to add it to my library list but then heard someone ELSE raving about it so HERE IT IS. (#120 on the list)
Nine Perfect Strangers: I’ve heard mixed reviews on this book but it sounds interesting to me so we shall see! (#380 on the list)
The Gilded Wolves: This is one that was on my list of YA books to read in 2019 and I’m so excited! (#9 on the list)
Becoming: I am honestly kind of thinking I’m just going to buy this one (because it’s going to take like 10 years to get to me) but I’m still on the holds list for now. (#583 on the list)

I’ve read and loved many of these. Where the Crawdads Sing is amazing!!! Educated is also fabulous. I listened to Becoming because I love her voice. I’m currently listening to The Tattooist of Auschwitz and see why do many recommend it! Enjoy your reading. Thank you for making me feel ok about my looooong holds list at the library too!!

Yay I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed so many of these! And omg I didn’t even include the ones that aren’t currently out — I have a bunch of February and March releases that are in the system and I’m already on the holds list for but aren’t out yet! So yay for our long library holds list lol

I don’t use the library often, but my sole resolution was to go to the library more this year. The Wicked King….. OMG. It was so good! I’m glad you’re not too far from the top of the list for that book because you need to read it asap! I also want to read The Au Pair and An Anonymous Girl, they’re a little out of my wheelhouse right now but I think I need a break from YA fantasy so I don’t get burned out.

YAY for going to the library more! Also check to see if your library has stuff like passes for different attractions and museums. There’s SO many free things our library has. And YAY I’m so glad to hear you loved the wicked king. I’m so excited. And oh man yes thrillers are the perfect way to break up some YA fantasy…still fast paced but different!

Holy moly! I have never had longer than a 34 person wait (Crazy Rich Asians!) Seeing those waits in the 500s (!!!!) shocks me, and makes me think that if I ever move, I need to check out the library holds system before I decide to move haha!

hahahah you are my people! My strategy is that with new releases (that I’m already interested in before they come out) is I check pretty much weekly or so to see when they are added to the system and I can reserve them and I’m normally within the first 5 people doing it that way! Sometimes I hear about books after the fact/am now interested in them or I forget to add them to my library list and that’s when I get screwed with those long ones lol And I had NO idea this wasn’t normal to have huge waits.

Wow! Your library gets some reallllllly long hold lists! I think I’m lucky because my library is good about ordering lots of copies of popular books! I’ve read quite a few of these. I really enjoyed The Anonymous Girl, Educated, Becoming, The Tattooist of Auschwitz, and When the Crawdads Sing. They are all soooooo different so you could probably go with whatever you are in the mood for and be happy.

I am #17 for An Anonymous Girl and tomorrow because the library is actually open during the holiday I am going to pick up my hold of The Gilded Wolves. I love love these library lists — like I feel like my own personal reading has shifted more toward the library and just reading completely by mood.
ALSO Educated is AMAZING. It is such an engaging book, like impossible to stop listening (I listened to the audiobook and it was superb).

I just finished reading An Anonymous Girl last week and I think that it’s definitely a thriller that delivers. If you love morality themes then this one is heavy on it and it makes for an exciting start. Hope you enjoy it!

I thought I Let You Go was fantastic. I really enjoyed all of Mackintosh’s books, but that is still my favorite.

I just got The Gilded Wolves on ebook from my library! I put it on hold before it came out so luckily I was at the top of the list 🙂 I love putting ebooks on hold, or saving them to my library wishlist.

I really liked Nine Perfect Strangers! I don’t know why this one has had such mixed reviews.
I’m currently listening to Michelle Obama on audio – I didn’t get on the hold list early enough and would have been like #1700 or something (it’s the most popular book in our network right now, I think) so I decided to try the audio and downloaded it from Audible. She’s a really good narrator!

I love seeing bloggers promote library usage – YAY! This year I’m aiming to do the same myself, with a library wrap up each quarter.
You’re waiting on some well loved & hyped titles, many of which I’m keen to read myself. I’m in queue for Becoming at my library also, and am number 19 in queue – I thought that was bad enough, never mind 500 something!!! You sure have patience. Haha!
