My Book Haul For This Week AKA The Week I Died And Went To Bookish Heaven

Let me just preface this haul post (in the vein of IMM & Stacking The Shelves) by saying….

THIS KIND OF WEEK IS NOT TYPICAL.

I swear, this much epicness does not normally hit my doorstep/mailbox all in one week. Seriously.  I kid you not, I did so many happy dances and my poor non-bookish friend was subjected to one. Her response: “I knew you were a nerd but this takes it to a whole new level.” My response: “IT IS REQUIEM! DO NOT SPEAK!”

 

So let’s do this thang because I’m super excited about my books from this week! My husband?  NOT SO MUCH. Apparently they “overtake” our apartment.

Audrey, Wait! by Robin Benway
(AHH I read this one already and OMG SO GOOD!! Check out my review of Audrey, Wait!)
The List by Siobhan Vivian
( I just read Not That Kind Of Girl by Siobhan Vivian this year and love her writing so figured this one should be next!)

(So after I devoured Sloppy Firsts & Second Helpings I went to my shelf and realized I had ALL of the series except this one! FAIL!)

(Looks super cute! GENIES! *flashes of Aladdin enter my brain* Thanks Penguin!)
OCD, The Dude & Me by Lauren Roedy Vaughn
( I really love this cover! This sounds like it is going to be one of those touching, humorous books and I’m so excited to delve in! Thanks Penguin!)
Orleans by Sherri L. Smith
(Sounds like an interesting post-apocalyptic novel! Thanks Penguin!)

Out Of The Easy by Ruta Sepytus
( I am a HUGE fan of her novel Between Shades of Grey — she writes incredible historical fiction and this sounds SO intriguing plus my pal, Tara, is also a fan of her and read  Out Of The Easy and said it was FABULOUS! Thanks Penguin!)

The 39 Deaths of Adam Strand by Gregory Galloway
(I had never heard of this one before but it sounds SO intriguing. Adam Strand tries to kill himself but he wakes up and he’s never dead or hurt so he keeps trying all different ways. This one sounds like it has to be the potential to be a thought-provoking read! Thanks Penguin!)

The Ruining by Anna Collomore
(This one sounds really thrilling! For some reason also, because she is a nanny and I used to be a nanny, it makes me even more excited. Is that weird that sometimes I find little things like that and they make me excited. haha. Thanks Penguin!)

Wasteland by Susan Kim and Laurence Klavan
(This reminds me a little bit of Wither by Lauren DeStefano’s premise but more action-y. Curious about it!)
Period 8 by Chris Crutcher
(I honestly have NO idea what this one is about. At first I thought bullying from the back and then the sheet of paper that came in the box talking about it uses words like “thriller” and says there is shocking violence. I honestly just have no idea. Am I intrigued? You bet!)
Imposter by Jill Hathaway
(Truthfully, I have not read the first one in this so I’ll need to check it out & see if it is something I’d be into!)
Pretty Girl – 13 by Liz Coley
(Wow! This one sounds heartbreaking. It says it is “reminiscent of Elizabeth Smart case” and it’s about a girl who went missing, was held captive and later found. I think I’m going to need to prepare myself for this one!)
Mila 2.0 by Debra Driza
(Seriously EXCITED! The blurb about it said it’s “Bourne Identity” type sci-fi thriller! YES! With Androids! Definitely excited for this one)
Flowers In The Sky by Lynn Joseph
(Have not heard much about this one — it’s about a girl who has to move from the DR to New York to live with her brother and has to adjust from island life to city life.)
Requiem by Lauren Oliver
(AHHHH. AHHHH. With how Pandemonium ended. OH MY GOSH.)
Spellcaster by Claudia Gray
(Witches!! I am so excited! I seriously have not read any witch books!)

AND THEN….let me take you through what happened when my most anticipated book of 2013, aside from Requiem, came…

I wept.

Realized that I ACTUALLY had the book in my hands.

And obviously happy danced.

And that book WAS:

Just One Day by Gayle Forman (you know my love for If I Stay & Where She Went)

    Amazing books this week! I am extremely excited to read Requiem!! It’s one of my anticipated books for next year. I have to ask…. how in the world did you acquire all of these arcs? Is there a secret I’m missing out on in the book blogging world?!?!

    OMG — Requiem!!!! That is probably my #1 book that I can’t wait for in 2013. It’s also one book on my ever-growing list of books that will be published post-baby-arrival-due-date, and I’m still hopeful that I’ll have a quiet, calm baby that will still allow me time to read my favourite series when the next installment’s out. I haven’t read the second installment of Gayle Forman’s series, but I keep hearing good things about it, so I may have to give it a try — and based on your reaction it definitely seems like it’ll be worth my while!

    The Art of Wishing! Eeeeeeee! I read a few pages of an excerpt and loved it so I can’t wait to read more. White Lines looks awesome and Mila 2.0 too! Currently reading Audrey, Wait! and it’s so awesome – fun times! Just One Day! I didn’t really like If I Stay but since JOD looks amazing, I look forward to giving Forman another shot. I’ve yet to read Second Helping but hope you enjoy Charmed Thirds!

    Oh my gosh….. that is the best epic book haul I have seen…maybe ever! I have such an immense book envy for Requiem, I am dying for it! You got so many great books… The Ruining… Mila 2.0… wow. I hope you enjoy everything! And I loved the animations/pictures… especially the Christmas themed Carlton dance, haha.

    I read Audrey Wait in the beginning of the year and it was a quick fun read. I also read Out of The Easy not to long ago and it was really good. I enjoyed it! I hope you enjoy everything you got this week 🙂

    AAAAH! YAY!! You had an EPIC BOOK WEEK! I’m so happy for you and slightly jealous and if I didn’t live all the way across the Atlantic, I’d just crash at your house and not leave until I’d READ THEM ALL! I’m scared to read Pandemonium before I can get my hands on Requiem, so I’ve put it off for now, but I don’t know how long I can hold out… And Pretty Girl-13 sounds amazing and heartbreaking and just SO GOOD! It’s very much possible that it’ll end up getting pre-ordered soon.

    I have all the Megan Mccafferty books except the fourth one! And I can’t find it anywhere with the original cover, grr! I don’t WANT the new cover!! Just b/c of you, I’m going to have to read AUDREY, WAIT! now, you know! lol I know Harper just sent me a few ARCs and I have my fingers crossed that REQUIEM is one of them, because, exactly! It’s REQUIEM! I read a Chris Crutcher book once in uni that I enjoyed. STAYING FAT FOR…whateer the girl’s name was. I can’t think. I enjoyed it! I just heard about JUST ONE DAY this week and was intrigued to know more once it comes out! Enjoy all of your books!!

    This week, the book I got that I’ve been coveting for a while is THE CADET OF TILDOR, thanks to Netgalley! And last week, NG granted me POISON, which I’ve also been dying for! I love when you get something you want so incredibly much. I just want to wipe off what I’m reading for the goodies! LOL!

    I’m about to start that Gayle Foreman book, too. So excited about it. I finished Period 8 not too long ago and will be curious to know your thoughts. Also will be curious about your copy of Requiem. The copy I read a couple of months ago may have been incomplete, based on new reviews that are popping up on Goodreads.
