Top Ten Tuesday, as always, is hosted at my other blog — The Broke & the Bookish
This week’s topic: Top Ten Debut Authors Whose Sophomore Novel I NEED NOW
1. Becky Albertalli: OMG if I had to pick just ONE off this list..it would be Becky’s next book. I am not quick to add books to my NEW FAVORITES list but Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is one I’ve been raving about since I read it last December. I literally don’t care what Becky writes next but I NEEDS IT.
2. Katja Millay: The Sea of Tranquility is one of my faves and I’ve been WAITING SO LONG for her sophomore novel. The last time I waited this long for a sophomore novel recently was the wait in between Jandy Nelson’s The Sky Is Everywhere and I’ll Give You The Sun and is WELL worth the wait so I trust Katja and will wait patiently!!!
3. Sharon Biggs Waller: Really enjoyed Sharon’s historical YA A Mad Wicked Folly and I cannot wait for her sophomore novel, The Forbidden Orchid which is another historical YA, and thankfully it comes out in February!
4. Chelsey Philpot: I really loved Chelsey’s debut Even In Paradise and think it was sooo underrated last year. Cannot wait to see what she puts out next!!
5. Marcy Beller Paul: I really enjoyed her debut Underneath Everything when I read it this summer and would really like her sophomore novel ASAP. No pressure!
6. Joy N. Hensley: Joy’s novel Rites of Passage was one of my FAVES last year. It was one that I thought “oh i might like this” but then OMG LOVED. I’m just so eager to get something else from her!!
7. Stacey Lee: I looooved Under A Painted Sky! I’m sooo happy that her next book is also a historical fiction and is out next year (Outrun the Moon).
8. Kristin Rae: I devoured Wish You Were Italian — it was such a fun contemporary with an amazing setting and her sophomore novel that comes out in Spring looks super cute too!
9. David Arnold: Mosquitoland was sooooo good and I just loved David’s writing so I’m DYING for his next book which according to Goodreads is called Kids Of Appetite and it’s out next year and IDK what it is about but I WANT WANT WANT.
10. Tess Sharpe: Far From You was SO GOOD. I want her next book so bad but ALAS IT COMES OUT IN 2017 I believe.
So tell me…what sophomore novels do you need to get your hands on??

I can’t wait to read Underneath Everything. It sounds like such a “me” book. Also The Sea of Tranquility has been something I have wanted to read for so long and ALWAYS forget about. I’m going to go put it on my secret santa wishlist 🙂 Maybe if I own it, I’ll remember to read it!

I haven’t read anything by any of these authors. Sounds like I need to look into their books and read some.

Great list! I think Becky Albertalli’s going to be a popular choice this week – she made my list for sure; Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda is fantastic. 🙂

Your the third list I’ve read with Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda on it. That makes me happy because it’s on my list to read next month. I’m so excited to get to it! 🙂

MUST READ Underneath Everything. I can’t seem to get past the first 10%. It gets better, I’m guessing? =p
Rites of Passage! Gotta put that one higher on the TBR – sounds so cool.
I think Becky’s next book is on everyone’s list this week. =p

Great list. You have a few books on here that I have read and enjoyed myself. I think I am also going to have to add a few of these to my Christmas wishlist, it looks like I have missed out on some great debuts recently. I am especially excited to read Simon VS the Homo Sapiens Agenda, I have heard so many good things about that one. Here’s my TTT.

Becky made my list as well. As did Tess. I cannot BELIEVE I forgot about Katja Millay & Renee Ahdieh. I could kick myself right now for forgetting those two. I am currently reading Underneath Everything and liking it a lot. It seems like a “me” book.

I never finished Even In Paradise. 🙁 But I would die for another Chelsey Philpot book, that book was magic and relatable and oh my gosh, amazing (what I read of it, anyway).
I would love a new book by Joy N. Hensley, she’s a very popular pick for this TTT (for excellent reasons). 🙂
This isn’t a sophomore novel, but I would love for Lauren Miller to come out with a book sometime in the near future.

Just added Under a Painted Sky to my TBR. How cool is this YA western thing that’s happening!? My Top 10

Seriously, whyyyyy is there not a new Katja Millay book yet?! The wait is killing me! I need that woman’s writing back in my life. And I’m so excited for Becky Albertelli’s next book, too!
