So a long, long time ago I used to have this feature called Retail Therapy but I let it fall to the wayside like many other features I used to do — which is fine with me because I don’t want to do things I’m not passionate about anymore. So I let it go for a while but lately, as I reevaluate things for this blog in 2014, I’ve decided that I’d like to bring it back and breathe some fresh air into it. Originally it was just for bookish items and there will still be some of that but I’d like to really include anything I want or, after doing my book inspired Halloween costumes post, maybe more things based off of of books — like getting into the style of a character or things I would buy that character etc.
This edition of Retail Therapy comes right smack dab in the middle of snowstorm Hercules. LOL. I still can’t get over the fact that they named a snow storm Hercules. Anyways, I want to pine for things to keep me warm during what seems like it is going to be a KILLER winter in 2014. No seriously it’s supposed to feel like -2 out.
1. KITTEN SLIPPERS from Forever 21: I have 2 pairs of slippers already but I WANT THESE BECAUSE THEY ARE SO CUUUUUTE.
2. Hat from Modcloth: I have a couple of winter hats but I want this one because it is pretty!
3. Mittens from Urban Outfitters: Love the fingerless mittens!
4. Comfy sweater from Urban Outfitters: My most favorite thing is a warm, fuzzy or oversized sweater (or hoodies) in the winter. I WANT.
5. Boots from Charlotte Russe: I got 3 pairs of boots for Christmas but I HAVE AN OBSESSION.
6. Legwarmers from Urban Outfitters: To go with my high boots. DUH. Love legwarmers. Always have.
7. Scarf: I have a ton of scarves but I don’t really have many patterned ones. Love this!
Seriously, I’m dying to shop for cold weather stuff right now because OMG IT IS FRIGID OUT and I seriously have this feeling that 2014 is going to be snowy and cold this winter.

Earmuffs are essential for when it’s cold but you don’t want to mess up your hair! I have cute furry purple plaid ones.

Even though it doesn’t get as cold down here, I still have a few winter accessories. Last year I bought this fabulous purple wool scarf from Macy’s that is super cute & super warm. Over sized sweaters with leggings & boots is a favorite wintery outfit of mine, too. And I can’t help but giggle at the come back that leg warmers are having. I was a dancer for 15 years growing up, so leg warmers were part of my uniform. We would cut holes about a third of the way down so that you could wear them over your dance shoes.

I love shopping and cute things so I’m really happy to see Retail Therapy back! Especially this edition of Retail Therapy because my goodness, it is freezing here! I did the calculation and it is -13 degrees Fahrenheit which means that I am for sure staying inside. I love oversized and warm sweaters too and Urban Outfitters has the best ones. They’re just all so cozy and perfect for a really cold day spent inside with cocoa. And boots! They would be on my list too! I’ve never owned a pair of high boots but I love the silhouette. They definitely beat my gross furry winter boots. It looks like I’m wearing a dead skunk!

First of all, I adore this feature! Not that I need much encouragement as I already love to shop and look for any excuse to do so, but I’m always on the lookout for new things to buy. That’s what credit cards are for, right? 😉
As a Canadian, I’ve learned to become very creative with my warm weather wear, since I need it at least 50% of the year. Berets, scarves, gloves – You name it, I’ve likely got it in every colour, shape and size at this point. That said, I need those slippers in my life. They’re just too cute for words and look so cozy!
In terms of items I love, I’ve been coveting the ‘Skip to My Mew’ hat and gloves on Modcloth for some time, but can’t justify the shipping costs to Canada. I also really love this beret on Forever 21. It sparkles!

None of these items are appropriate where I live! I think it was like 70 degrees yesterday! I do like those leg warmers though! I use to be addicted to them, since I never wore pants and sometimes my legs would feel a bit nippy at school. 😛

Being a native Californian, I don’t even know how to shop for cold weather clothes, hahaha! But they are always so cute! I’m hoping it gets just a little bit colder out here so I can get away with the cute cold weather clothes 🙂

OMG YES TO ALL OF THESE! It’s getting so cold and I have to head out Midwest soon, where it’s even colder than the East Coast. I can never have too many sweaters and the Urban Outfitters one sounds so warm! I’ve been layering myself up with Uniqlo’s Heattech stuff, which are great because they’re thin but incredibly warm. I bought a cute snood/infinity scarf from H&M and I’m contemplating learning how to knit sometime… Hm.

Yes! This is so fantastic!! I’m kind of a compulsive shopper, and I actually own those mittens from Urban! I’ve always lived in warm weather (I’m home for break, and it’s 80 degrees out), but since moving for school – I’ve had to start shopping for wintery things, and it’s SO MUCH FUNNN.
My favorite website to shop for clothes is Ruche! It’s a lot like Modcloth! (:

I’m also dealing with Hercules (and you’re right, the fact they named it Hercules is indeed amusing) and I’m going to be facing negative temperatures in a few days. Time for cozy sweaters for me! That red one looks very comfy. 🙂 I must say, this is probably the coolest feature I’ve ever seen on a blog.

I love the oversized sweater! I have been searching for one but can’t seem to find one anywhere. Apparently we don’t carry them down South (my excuse for when I can’t find winter things I want). I should take to the internet! 🙂

All super nice stuff! I’ve been wanting to buy leg warmers for awhile but just haven’ t gotten arnd tok it yet. My fav suede boots have no starch to them and keep slouching down my legs=cold!

I like the idea behind this feature, might be somethng I should include in my weekly posts! I live in Northern Alberta, so I really have no suggestions for short term cold weather because I deal with for 4-5 months lol

Headphone earmuffs were my most recent awesome cold-weather purchase.
I like really thick infinity scarves that you can put over your coat.
And recently I’ve been really into ankle boots. I know they’re not TOTALLY practical for snowy weather, but at least these are waterproof and lined.

These posts are going to be the death of my wallet, if I can’t manage to keep my self-control! For this particular one, I’m obsessing over that GORGEOUS scarf and those ADORABLE mittens. This cold weather needs to leave, stat, but I also like the fact it brings gloriously lovely things like the ones in this post into my life 😉

Oversized sweaters are amazing!! I was in Chicago during the deep freeze and it felt like -35 one morning!! Omg. No. I went shopping while I was there and got this giant sweater from a store called Dry Goods that I now call my cuddle sweater. 🙂
