Happy Friday everyone!! This week has been really nice to jump back into the blog (if you missed it: what I’ve been doing while not blogging & some of the books I’ve been reading) and I thought a great way to end the week of my return is with a giveaway that I’ve partnered with Little Brown to bring to you.

Sunday afternoons my parents would drive around the back roads of East Texas looking for property to buy for their retirement. Nice lazy afternoons.

I love driving back roads for an afternoon, just to relax. If you can’t take a long road trip, sometimes just a few hours can be good. Road trips are the best way to get to know people or spend time with friends.

Most of my trips are road trips (THANK YOU EAST COAST!). I love them. My family & I have driven to FL, TN, VA, SC, NC, GA, NY, RI, MA, PA, NJ, MI, MD, CT, & maybe somewhere else in-between. One day I want to go on a cross country road tribute, but until then I think my favorite road trip was to MI when I was about 10. It was just my mom & I visiting a family friend and it was just such a fun time.

I remember taking road trips all the time growing up. My parents had a big van and the back seat folded down into a bed. My parents had to set rules for which kid got to lay on the bed and for how long before they had to get out and let a sibling lay on it. My brothers and I fought over it all the time!

I had no idea he wrote a book but now I want to read it! I’ve never road tripped in the US, but I’m in the process of putting together a googlemap of at least one literary destination for each state in the hopes that I’ll at least turn some part of it into a United States Literary Road trip. Seems like it would make great fodder for my blog! I feel like reading some US road trip memoirs would be a good place to start though.

When I was in college, I planned an elaborate road trip across PA going to see alllll the cool little things there are to see in our awesome state– like Centralia, The Crayola Factory, Hershey, Falling Water, taking a picture with the Intercourse PA sign, Kinzua, the shoe house, Gettysburg, Zippo Museum, Liberty Bell– it was a lot. We were going to camp or stay in cheap motels and it would’ve been awesome memories, but me and my friends never got it together enough to do more than plan.
