This week’s topic: Top Ten Books On My Fall 2013 TBR List

 I’m super terrible at sticking to any sort of list but I love making them and at least TRYING to prioritize each season what I’ll read. And because I just making lists and looking at my books and getting excited about them. haha.

The Duke And I by Julia Quinn: In my 2nd adult fiction pick from my Courting The Adult Genre project, I will tackle this historical fiction novel!

Diva by Jillian Larkin: This is the final book in the Flappers trilogy! I love this trilogy and I have waited far too long to finish it! Check out my review of Vixen to see what this series is all about!

What Happens Next by Colleen Clayton: Estelle over at Rather Be Reading let me borrow this one FOREVER ago and I haven’t picked it up yet. I AM THE WORST. Especially since I’ve heard great things!

These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman/Meagan Spooner: SPACE! SPACE! SPACE! I snagged this one at BEA and I’m excited to read it!

The Paradox of Vertical Flight: This looks like a ME book and super quirky and I’ve heard initial great things about it so WE WILL SEE.

Across A Star-Swept Sea by Diana Peterfreund: I loved For Darkness Shows The Stars and this book is set in the same world but different characters! Diana’s writing is so beautiful and lovely so I hope I will love this one!

All The Truth That’s In Me by Julie Berry: I always love a good mystery and this hadn’t been on my radar until it showed up in my mailbox and it looks so good. It sounds kind of twisted! I don’t know…that’s just the sense I get from the summary and the cover.

Love Letters From The Dead: I STARTED this one but had to put it down due to books with more pressing release dates but I want to pick it up ASAP because it’s awesome so far. The MC tells her story through letters to famous dead people. It had a hold on me within the first few pages.

The Promise of Amazing: This looks like a cute contemporary romance that’s been on my radar for a bit!

Cress by Marissa Meyer: I let a friend borrow this before she left the country and she said it was awesome so this is DEFINITELY on my Fall list. I’m starting Scarlet as we speak so it doesn’t quite make the “Fall” cut off or else I would have doubled up and put them together.

So tell me…have you read any of these? Any on your tbr list? What books are you making a priority this Fall? Which ones of my list should be of highest priority??

    I can’t wait for These Broken Stars! That one made my list too, definitely one of my most-anticipated books this year. I’m also really excited to read Across a Star-Swept Sea! Looooooved ‘Darkness’, and the fact that the sequel will follow different characters just makes me even more excited. 😀

    Jamie, you and I have one book in common in our lists this week. I am dying for Cress! I can’t wait to get my hands on that book. SO excited. I read What Happens Next in one sitting last winter and I really enjoyed it. It’s the type of book that you can read in one sitting. I hope you find time to get to all the books you mentioned and more this fall.

    I’m also absolutely terrible at actually sticking to this sort of list, so even the best laid plans and best intentions seem to go astray for me somewhere along the way. I was a little disappointed to find I had only read three of the ten books I chose for my Summer ‘to-be-read’ list, and I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to do better in the Fall. Fingers crossed! 😀

    I’ll be looking forward to reading your thoughts on What Happens Next. I read it in 2012 and while I did like it, I found it wasn’t without its fair share of problems, particularly in terms of the resolution (or lack thereof) at the conclusion of the novel. I do appreciate that it tackled such difficult, and important, subject matter for young adults, though.

    Like you, I’m also really looking forward to Love Letters From The Dead! I adore epistolary novels and I think the concept is absolutely unique. Plus, that cover? It’s a little bit to die for (No pun intended, surprisingly) 😉

    Wow, you have so many good books on your TBR. I’ve been hearing GREAT things about The Paradox of Vertical Flight. I’m hoping it lives up to the hype. It sounds like an interesting concept.

    THE PROMISE OF AMAZING and THESE BROKEN STARS (in fact, I’ve seen the latter on like every list) are on my list, too! They look so good! I want to read CRESS, and ah, DIVA–I still need to read that one, too; I love the trilogy! THE PARADOXICAL OF VERTICAL FLIGHT looks good, too. Great list!

    I cannot wait for Across A Star-Swept Sea to come out. I adore Diana Peterfreund, and the premise of the book intrigues me.

    I’m so glad you’re going to try Julia Quinn! I’ve read a few of hers, they were all warm and witty and so sweet. I haven’t read The Duke and I, but I brought it to a signing last year because I fully expect it to be a fave. That series is so well-loved by her readers.

    I made a TBR list for the summer and got distracted halfway through. 😉 But I do know this fall I’m hoping to read more Edith Wharton; I read The House of Mirth earlier this year and LOVED it!

    These Broken Stars is on my TBR list. I’m super looking forward to it! The cover is absolutely stunning!
    I’ll be adding For Darkness Shows The Stars and Across the Star-Swept Sea to my TBR list. The covers of these two books are so gorgeous!
    I’ll also be adding Marissa Meyer’s Cinder, Scarlet and Cress to my TBR pile. They seemed like a retelling of fairy tales with a sci-fi bent? Seems interesting!
    The Promise of Amazing seemed adorable and sweet! I’m gonna add it to my list too!

    These Broken Stars is AMAZING. The romance is one of the best written I’ve ever found in YA. All my personal favorite things: different social classes, slow burn, survival, etc. Love Letters to the Dead looks terrific as well! And Cress? Let me just sneak my hand through the computer screen and read while you’re not looking. I wasn’t a huge fan of For Darkness Shows the Stars but I still want to give Across a Star-Swept Sea a try.

    Wow! You have a HUGE pile to read this fall! I’m only going to select a few. Louis Duncan – the same author who wrote I know what you did last summer. Hopefully, he is still as awesome as I remember as a kid.

    Absolutely LOVELY list – and I’ve been itching to pick up some Julia Quinn too! – but I have to admit The Paradox of Vertical Flight was a huge DNF for me. It sounded FAB and I thought for sure it was a total Leah book, but I was wrong. The author is only 22 and the writing felt overly pretentious, like he was trying too hard to prove he’s a ~serious author~

    I hope you have better luck with it than I did!

    These Broken Stars looks really good! It seems to be on a lot of people’s lists! Across a Star-Swept Sea sounds good, I just got the first one from the library! And The Promise of Amazing looks adorable! I’m really excited for that one!

    I’m horrible at sticking to lists, too…but that doesn’t stop me from making dozens of them. It’s a compulsion! 😉 I almost added These Broken Stars and The Promise of Amazing to my list too but I’m going to wait as long as possible to read them (which might not actually happen) so I can get caught up on other books. Great list, Jamie! 🙂

    Great list! I haven’t actually heard of most of these books — will be looking forward to seeing what you think and then adding more to my TBR! I keep hearing SUCH amazing things about Cress, and was super excited to binge-read both Scarlet and Cress next year … only to find out that there’s a book four in the works? I want to finish the whole series NOW! *pouts*

    First of all, your dresses/skirts are ADORABLE. I can’t wait for cooler weather – though I’m not usually a seasonal-genre reader, for some reason I always want to read historical romance in the fall/winter. Lauren Willig is my go-to author for historical romance, so I might continue on with her Pink Carnation series. 🙂 And Love Letters from the Dead – JEALOUS. I can’t wait to read that one. And Cress, of course. Excellent list!

    The Duke and I is so cute. That whole series is easily my favorite historical romance set.

    These Broken Stars made my list as well. Such a gorgeous cover and I’ve heard so many great things.

    Across A Star-Swept Sea, All The Truth That’s In Me, Love Letters to the Dead and The Promise of Amazing are all on my tbr list, through not on my TTT list. There are so many great books coming out this fall it was hard to choose.

    I totally own the first two books in that Flappers series, but still haven’t read it. OOPS.

    These Broken Stars and The Paradox of Vertical Flight are both on my BEA ARC list too, though I think I’m getting the audio of the latter instead, because I think I might like this one better that way. Also, you will love Across a Star-Swept Sea. All the Truth That’s in Me is really original, but also very strange. I liked it!

    Please let Love Letters to the Dead be good. Also, how do you have Cress already? I NEEDS IT.
