Top Ten Tuesday, as always, is hosted at my other blog — The Broke & the Bookish
This week’s topic: Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR List — I’m definitely a person who tries to scatter my reading with older books, upcoming releases and further out releases so I have a mixture of things to read and blog about! As always, with my season TBR lists I only pick books I own because I am desperately trying to read the books on my shelves and this helps me at least try to tackle 10 books on my shelves instead of thinking about ones I don’t have.
(1) How To Say Goodbye In Robot by Natalie Standiford: My dear friend Carla LOVES this book and I’ve been meaning to pick it up but never have. LUCKILY my amazing Secret Santa this year, Nina, put this in my package so it’s a priority this Winter! I MUST.
(2) The Fault In Our Stars by John Green: I know. I know. JG is one of my favorite authors and I’ve yet to read this one. Truth? I’m TERRIFIED of it. TERRIFIED.
(3) Meant To Be by Lauren Morrill: I’m planning on reading this around Valentine’s Day because it seems super cute. Interestingly enough I didn’t realize I picked another Lauren Morrill book on this list until I started putting this together.
(4) The Impossible Knife of Memory by Laurie Halse Anderson: I love LHA so this is a no brainer for me.
(5) Being Sloane Jacobs by Lauren Morrill: Another Lauren Morrill on the list! This looks super cute and fun and I’m curious how the “trading places” thing will go.
(6) Maybe One Day by Melissa Kantor: I’ve been excited for this book for a long time. PLEASE BOOK GODS LET THIS ROCK MY WORLD.
(7) Split Second by Kasie West: I just finally read Pivot Point and I’m DYING to read the sequel.
(8) Panic by Lauren Oliver: Lauren always seems to hit you hard so I’m expecting big things for this one.
(9) Open Road Summer by Emory Lord: I need to read this in the Winter because it looks so fun and summery…very much NOT like PA in the winter.
(10) Don’t You Forget About Me by Kate Karyus Quinn: YEAH. This moved way up on my list after reading Another Little Piece by this author because I STILLLLL don’t have words for that book. I’m so intrigued! Funny story…I went to take this picture and my Kindle died. Ain’t nobody got time to wait for THAT so I just photoshopped the book cover in. BAM. I love technology.

The Fault In Our Stars is one of those books that has been sitting on my TBR for a while now. I don’t think I’ll be reading it this winter. I don’t think I’m in the mindset for it. I’m terrified of it as well. Maybe in the spring or summer I’ll be ready to read it. I heard good things about it. Even one of my male coworkers was like “that’s an awesome book.” So I have to read it eventually.

Look how pretty your post is! All these books sound pretty fab to me. And I like your strategy of including a summery book to help with the winter blues. TFioS is a tough one, so save a light and fluffy book to follow up. There are some humorous moments in the book though 🙂 Can’t wait to hear what you think.

I totally understand being terrified of starting John Green’s books. They are like precious little bits of perfect and starting one means that you will eventually finish it – but if you wait to start it it’ll take longer to finish… right? =)

I’m a lot like you in the sense that I really tried to strike a balance between new releases and books I already own for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic, leaning more heavily toward the latter as my collection of owned, unread books is becoming a little out of control at this point. I don’t think I can express how envious I am of your ARC of The Impossible Knife of Memory. I’m such a big fan of Laurie Halse Anderson’s work and I’ll be counting the minutes until the book’s release on January 7th. It just can’t get here soon enough! Nobody writes contemporary quite like her. I can’t wait to hear what you thought of it! 😀
Also, I just have to take a moment and comment on how adorable your graphics for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday are. The staging is so inventive and I love all the little snowflakes – They’re so pretty! Lovely work, Hun!

After getting you How to Say Goodbye in Robot now I really want a copy! It sounds so cute but my TBR list is already so huge. So I refrained from buying myself one. Also I’m totally jealous that you have The Impossible Knife of Memory! I loved Wintergirls and Fever 1793 so I can’t wait to read Laurie’s next book.

I just read MAYBE ONE DAY and cried the whole way through. Definitely a tear jerker. Lauren Morrill’s books are fun – easy light reading that make me smile. I also just read PANIC and sadly felt underwhelmed (I might be the only person so far…gah!) I hate loving an author so much it hurts and then reading a new book and feeling so blah about it- I just didn’t connect with the characters but loved the writing of PANIC so so so much.
I am also looking forward to THE IMPOSSIBLE KNIFE OF MEMORY so so badly. Is it out yet? LOL.

I have no idea what Open Road Summer is, but I’m sold on the cover!! Yeah, def not a PA winter read. I want to read Don’t You Forget About Me. That cover is pretty awesome too. Funny though, I think you forgot to upload a graphic because I don’t see Divergent on this list anywhere!! OHhhhh…. you got owned!

I’m swooning all over your TBR pile, just so you know. I ADORE The Fault in Our Stars. Yes, painful and heartbreaking but so worth it and so fantastic. JG is a master and you shouldn’t be afraid. Just be ready for the awesomeness coming your way. Lots of emotional reads this winter, no? My list is similar – for some reason, I like crying most during the winter. I think it’s probably because I’m not obligated to be among people at any time of day so full-on cry fests are legit and understandable.

It’s nice to see a good mixture of books featured in your TBR list. The Fault In Our Stars is one book we should all get round to reading, particularly you who is a John Green fan in general.

Maybe One Day was amazing. I was up until 2am devouring it. It was a seriously emotional book. To the point that I was sobbing violently. I was a COMPLETE emotional wreck. So I would recommend you spacing TFIOS and MOD FAAAAAR apart. Being Sloane Jacobs was an adorable book and I really enjoyed it.I haven’t read Panic yet but the e-ARC is currently sitting on my Kindle awaiting my powers of devouring.
I am SO excited for Split Second and The Impossible Knife of Memory. I am quite envious of those who have secured ARC’s for these two.

I can’t wait to read Open Road Summer! It seems like it has all the elements of a story that I enjoy, so I’m hoping I love the book. Maybe One Day is another book I’m highly anticipating, so I look forward to seeing what you think of it! The Fault in Our Stars is a wonderful, wonderful book, although it had me sobbing into a sofa cushion. (Not my most attractive look, I will admit!)

Reading has totally not been a priority for me lately. I’m in a major slump and I don’t know how to dig out. It sucks because it’s so cold here in Northern Nevada and there’s plenty of time for curling up under the covers with good books.

Awesome idea. I like putting older books on my list as well, especially because I am way behind on reviewing! I love How To Say Goodbye in Robot, and I’m glad I’m not the only one who hasn’t read The Fault In Our Stars yet, though sometimes it feels like i’m the only person left. 🙂

Meant to Be is one of my favorite books that I read this year! It’s SO cute and I can’t wait to read Being Sloane Jacobs also! I’m like you, have to tackle the books I already own first… lots of fantasy and historical titles I’ve been super excited for but haven’t had the time to read! The Burning Sky, Across a Star-Swept Sea, Untold, These Broken Stars, Empress of the Seven Hills, The Boleyn Deceit…. for Winter books coming out, I can’t wait for A Mad, Wicked Folly, Lady Thief and CRESS!!! My winter TBR pile is all backlist this time around – I really need to get to some of the older books on my shelf! That said, I haven’t picked up THE FAULT IN OUR STARS yet either, and I felt like the only book blogger left on the planet who hadn’t! So glad I’m not alone. Great list!

I can’t wait to read Split Second! I didn’t think I was going to like Pivot Point that much but it is one of my favs of 2013. The story was just so awesome and I can’t wait.

Such a pretty list! The Fault in Our Stars is good, just remember to stock up on tissues. I read Meant To Be this week and it’s super cute. It also made me want to travel to London, so prepare for some serious wanderlust! Maybe One Day sounds like it was written especially for me, so I CAN’T WAIT to get to that one. I really hope it won’t disappoint. And Split Second – I really need to re-read Pivot Point soon.

I, too, am hoping to get to Panic this winter. I am in love with Lauren Oliver’s writing, and I can’t imagine this one will disappoint. I’m hoping to get to Engines of the Broken World this winter because it sounds crazy and bizarre, and I think I’ll need winter break to give it my full attention. I also can’t wait to read This Song Will Save Your Life because of all the great things I’ve heard about it.
