Top Ten Tuesday, as always, is hosted at my other blog — The Broke & the Bookish
This week’s topic: Top Ten Books On My Spring TBR List
So many books coming out this Spring as well as SO many books I just haven’t gotten to yet plus Summer releases I want to get a jump start on…trying to prioritize! I’m REALLY REALLY proud of myself because I read/am currently reading now (Cinder) 7/10 books on my Winter TBR list. I normally SUCK at sticking to a list but apparently this Winter I was totally feeling my picks!
1. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta: I know, I know. I need to get on this so I’m doing it this Spring so you can all stop telling me how much I need to read it.
2. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell: Okay, technically this is not “long overdue” as it hasn’t been out that long BUT it’s long overdue considering all the raving I’ve heard about it and I’ve owned it for like 2 weeks already. MUST get to it soon.
3. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson: Considering my love for Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour I can’t believe I haven’t gotten to this one already and I think I’m finally ready. I’ve heard it was a tearjerker and I haven’t been sure I’m ready for it!
4. How To Save A Life by Sara Zarr: I loved Sweethearts when I read it last year and I need to get to this one finally PLUS it will give me something to read while I wait patiently for The Lucy Variations.
5. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Eyre: In my attempt to work on my bookish resolution about reading more of the classics sitting on my shelf, I’ve picked this one!
6. The Program by Suzanne Young: I’m so excited to have just received this for review and to read with my book club next month so this is obviously on the top of my priority list!
7. A Corner of White by Jaclyn Moriarty: I recieved this for review and am going to be part of an awesome promo for it! It’s one that I’ve been so excited about so YAY!
8. Golden by Jessi Kirby: This is high on my list because I love Jessi Kirby’s previous novels and she’s on my auto-buy list! I’ve heard this one is amazing and cannot wait to read it soon!
9. This Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith: My lovely friend Mitali let me borrow this one and I’m so stinking excited since I finally read The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight.
10. The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen: Obviously I bounced off the wall when this pretty thang came my way and Spring-time is the perfect time to read it to get in the mood for summer!
So tell me…
Asheley Tart (@BookwormAsheley) says

Jellicoe Road is $3 on B&N for the Nook. I’ve been eyeing it for a while. Now I’ll have to get it…
And, yes. You will LOVE Jane Eyre. It’s such a great classic.

I have Second Chance Sumer, Eleanor & Park, and How To Save a Life all on my up-next pile as we speak! Yay, now we (maybe) get to compare thoughts.
I’m also really looking forward to Golden and This is What Happy Looks Like, since I’ve heard great things about those authors.
Carla says
I am now refusing to speak to you until you read Jellicoe Road. Not even joking.
Carrie from Stalking the Bookshelves says
Jane Eyre is my favorite classic novel. Enjoy my friend!! I really want to read Eleanor & Park myself. There has been so much buzz surrounding this book that I feel silly for not reading it yet. How to Save a Life is sooo good. I know you will just love it. I just recently heard about A Corner of White and have quickly added it to my TBR list. Happy reading as always!
bookrockbetty says
Wait a minute… something must have gone wrong here. Maybe you accidentally copy and pasted wrong? Did you let Will do this week’s post??? Are my eyes failing me??? It’s like I’m playing Where’s Waldo, but searching for Divergent and Vampire Academy. 😉
Thumbs up for Jellicoe Road, The Program and How to Save a Life (even though any time i read that title i end up singing the fray)!
Kelly says
Jane Eyre is totally worth it IMO. Great classic! And I agree on Jellicoe Road, I am loooong overdue for that one…

You should definitely make sure that you pick up Jane Eyre this spring! I had to read it for my uni course and loved it. It’s not like other classics. It is dark and disturbing and a bit creepy with gothic elements. I hope you enjoy it! 🙂

Ohhh you HAVE to read Jane Eyre soon Jamie! It’s such a beautiful book and then you have to watch the BBC Mini Series- the 2006 one because it’s AMAZING!!!. I received Jellicoe Road as a present this past Christmas, but I haven’t gotten around to reading it. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Marchetta’s writing. I hope you enjoy all your books Jamie 🙂
Ashling says
I just got Cinder from Amazon, and put it on my TTT list. Cannot wait to read it!
I haven’t heard of a few of these books, but I do have The Program on my TBR list (not my Spring one, just my regular TBR list).
I really hope you enjoy Jane Eyre. It is one of my all-time favorite books, so I’m looking forward to reading what you thought of it.

Second Chance Summer! I loooooooved that one! And How to Save a Life! Gorgeous books. I hope you like them! I just finished Jane Eyre last night and wasn’t totally thrilled with it, so I’m interested to see how you like it.
I have The Moon and More and can’t wait to dig in! I know it’s going to be awesome. 🙂
Enjoy all your books, Jamie!
Alexa Y. says
You picked out some awesome titles for the Spring! I’m pretty stoked for you and your reading pile, as I’m sure you’re going to have an amazing time reading.
Jellicoe Road is a bit hard to get into at the start, but it’s worth it, I promise. I went in without any expectations and just allowed the story (and Melina’s impeccable writing) to blow me away.
Eleanor & Park is lovely! I think it’s a very authentic portrayal of those moments you share with your “first love”, and I enjoyed that immensely. Plus, there are definitely issues that each of the characters have to face individually which added dimension to the book overall.
Second Chance Summer is WONDERFUL. Morgan Matson wrote a story that made me feel highly emotional, and I sobbed a lot towards the latter half of the book (so prepare your tissues!).
I just got A Corner of White as well, and I’m looking forward to reading it. It sounds so intriguing, and it will be my first Moriarty book!
Also, Golden is phenomenal. I love it more than I loved In Honor (and I did like that book a lot). I’m trying to find the words for my review for it, but I still haven’t – it’s just that good.
Maggie says
Almost all of these are on my list as well. Good choices! Especially Jane Eyre, which I read for the first time a few years ago, it’s fantastic.
Brittany @ The Book Addict's Guide says
Eleanor & Park YAYYYYY <3
I JUST started Golden and I really like it so far! For as much as you can like one chapter haha.
Also really looking forward to new Jennifer E. Smith!!
Stormy says
Ah, I should have added Jellicoe Road to my TTT list, since I bought it about a week ago when it was a kindle sale. I don’t know if I would have normally picked it up, but everyone seems to love it and it does have that shiny Printz sticker. I’m also really excited for A Corner of White and The Program!
Thea says
I made the mistake of downloading the first 3 chapter sneak peak of This Is What Happy Looks Like. I say mistake because that sneak peak starts so incredibly strong, it is torture waiting for the rest of it.
Brandy @ A Little of the Book Life says
How to Save a Life I really really enjoyed. Jane Eyre should have made my TTT as well since I’m supposed to be reading it by June with friends of mine. 🙂
Brandy @ A Little of the Book Life

Dying for Eleanor and Park. EVERYONE is raving about it. Even John Green! Golden, This is What Happy Looks Like and Second Chance Summer are also on my list. JELLICOE ROAD is one of top 5 favorite books of all time, as is Jane Eyre. You have an epic spring coming, dear.
Christina (A Reader of Fictions) says
I also need to read Jellicoe Road! Let me know when you read it and if I can, I’ll read at the same time! Second Chance Summer and How to Save a Life are also ones I’ve been meaning to find time for. Read Eleanor & Park right now.
Also, I love the first half of Jane Eyre, but HATE Rochester, at least as a love interest. SIGH.
*makes grabby hands at second half of post* I am getting A Corner of White, but I don’t have ARCs of the rest, which means I’ll probably get to them when I’m fifty. lol.
Jenni Elyse says
I’ve wanted to read Jellicoe Road for a while. And, I’d also love to read How to Save a Life and Jane Eyre. Good picks!

Jane Eyre is straight up amazing! I love that book to pieces! And I want to get my hands on a copy of Elenore and Park as well! Great list!
Hollie @ Music, Books and Tea says
Jellicoe Road and Second Chance Summer are amazing reads! I started reading How to Save a Life but got distracted when I was only a couple of pages in and never picked it up again, but I’ll definitely go back to it soon. I’ll definitely be reading The Moon and More when it’s released, as well as This Is What Happy Looks Like. Great list!
